Im willing to step up and say Ive been pretty wrong about Woodson. Obviously I still want to see how we do in the playoffs but hes definitely made me look stupid so far.

From the start of the year I felt Woody had to help get this team to the ECF's in order for this team to have reached it's potential and that hasn't changed. Woody has done his job up to this point. He and the team have achieved all their goals for the season. Win the Atlantic and then get the 1st or 2nd seed. Due to injuries they weren't able to really battle for 1st seed IMO. Despite the win streak by the Heat I think this team would've been a lot closer to MIA if not for all the injuries. Who knows maybe it's the Knicks who go on a 20+ win streak.

I still don't know how good Woody is yet cuz the real test IMO will come with how he guides the team thru the playoffs. I feel much more comfortable with him as coach tho. He's adjusted to this roster very well and seems to have a nice feel for his players and how best to use them now. All I know is he's coached his team to a guaranteed home series in the 1st and 2nd rd of the playoffs and that's a major accomplishment, especially with a TON of injuries.

I agree with your post. He has done a great job this (regular) season.

If he can make sure that Melo and especially JR keep the ball moving then we have a great chance to get to the ECF. If the ball does not move and there are many ISO and 1 on one's, he has failed.

the Knicks were 37-22 when you created the thread... is that correct? 15 games over .500. Every team goes through stretches of not so good ball unless you are completely healthy and/or elite. You kind of jumped the gun.

Balance.

Dantoni and Woodson are too polarizing

As much as we would never win a ring with Dantoni's lack of defense

We will never win a ring with Woodson's low IQ offensive strategies(low IQ like his fav player JR). If you can call it strategy

Does Thibs lose his job for the same??...George Karl??...Woody has his team performing as good if not better than those highly regarded coaches despite the injuries...So why is Woody held to a different standard??

Of course you're not qualified to speak on anything really. You still apologize for Stephon Marbury and Isiah Thomas.

Vogel isn't getting eliminated in the first round. Besides, his team is missing arguably its best player and only scorer. He has a built-in excuse. But even without the excuse he guided his team to the 2nd round last year and gave the Heat a run for their money with an inferior team. His team plays some of the best defense in the entire league. He's proven himself. Woodson hasn't.

Thibodeau has proven himself as a coach. He's also missing his franchise player but still has his team in the playoffs. Let's not forget the elite defense his team plays consistently. Woodson doesn't have that cache...yet.

George Karl has won everywhere he has been. He is one of the all-time coaching legends. He has proven himself. Woodson hasn't.

Mike Woodson has won in the REGULAR SEASON before and been owned in the playoffs. By owned I mean completely embarrassed. It's worth nothing that he was fired because his team got swept out of the playoffs 2 years in a row and his players began his resent hid favoritism of certain players. We'll see if he learned from his mistakes. But until then, yes, of course he'll be held to a different standard. He hasn't done anything in comparison to any of those coaches. Why do you think there are rumors of Vinny Del Negro being fired after guiding the Clippers to their first ever division title and 50+ wins? He has sucked in the playoffs his whole career. If he doesn't perform up to par this year he'll likely get the boot. And he has a great winning percentage there. But guess what? Regular season wins mean jack squat. I don't do cartwheels for winning 50 games. The Spurs have been doing that for a decade. No Spurs fan even cares about that anymore. It's all about winning the big one. And until Woodson can prove he can guide his team to at least an Eastern Conference Finals appearance then he is nowhere near any of those coaches.

misterearl, who has been wrong more than Kim Kardashian has had sex partners, continues to bump this thread to show people that for once in his life he wasn't completely wrong on the Knicks. That for once he didn't make a playoff prediction during a 23-win Isiah season. That for once he can celebrate himself being right by trying to poke other fellow fans into an argument. Except I never bumped all his awful threads where he was wrong on everything. I never taunted him. Perhaps I am more forgiving than others. Perhaps I just don't care. Or perhaps I just consider everyone here and everywhere a diehard Knicks fan and don't separate people into groups. That's something people like misterearl, with his poor attempt at riddles that Clyde would frown upon, fails to understand.

On to the playoffs. I hope to see the best from this team and a championship in 2013.

and mine. Love the asshurt fans that only post when we are doing bad. You know who you are T....never mind. Woody is coach of the year. He took a bunch of guys that have underachieved, surrounded them with no-nonsense vets along with his I will get in your face personality and made then believe in themselves.

I think this is the biggest difference in JR's play. He has a coach that believed in him and no, I believe that JR truly BELIEVES IN HIMSLEF.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

You have your opinion and this is perfectly fine ... what I don't understand is your insistence to repeat it over and over again in this thread when Woodson has the Knicks playing their best season in more than 10 years. Maybe a wait and see approach could be an interesting alternative ?

And let's be fair, the Knicks haven't been healthy all year, so the injuries excuses for the above mentioned coaches seem to me like you are grasping for some (invalid in my eyes, so let's agree to disagree) arguments to prove your point about Mike Woodson.

It's funny that you mention Vogel because apart going to the 2nd round (something Mike Woodson has also done), I'm not sure what is the different standard for him except for your strongly negative opinion on Mike Woodson (and why the standard should be different for Vogel and Woodson is still quite mysterious for me despite your above explanation).

Once again, you can have your opinion and I respect it (and I think that everyone knows it by now), but for my part I will see what will happen in the playoffs and enjoy for now the first division title and #2 seed for the Knicks in 19 years. Go orange and blue !

JamesKPolk - if you think The Answer Man worries a nanosecond about being right or wrong, you are sadly mistaken. Your personal resentment of The Answer Man, during the best Beat Boston Week of Knicks basketball in two decades, while a universal happy dance is being performed, are wonderfully transparent.

The bumped threads are for discussion purposes only. It's not personal. It's entertainment. Anyone who takes a basketball conversation as proof of superiority needs to have their head examined. If you do not enjoy positive comments, you can sit on the bench and sulk. It's a just set of characters on a screen dude. In the final analysis, we are both loyal Knicks followers. The only difference between us is that when they lose 3 in a row ... The Answer Man does not turn on them like a rabid dog.

At the same time, if you cannot handle some friendly chin music, perhaps you would be better of at The Sesame Street thread down the hall. This is a 53-27 team, under a stubborn and clueless head coach, and that means only one thing:

"It's PARTY TIME!"

“I’ve seen a team with a lot of heart that’s committed. Everybody in that locker room has been committed all season. I’ve been able to call on every player in that locker room at one time or another." - Mike Woodson

The man said heart.

One more thing JamesKPolk, It is a stone cold fact that if the Knicks do not win a championship you will be the first to drop the science about Mike Woodson being an inferior head coach. Today, that is simply not the case. Thanks to the steady hand of Mike Woodson, the Knicks are back.

"I’ve been able to call on every player in that locker room at one time or another."

Veterans up, crybabies down.
