The loss doesn't bother me, nor would a win placate me. What bothers me is the lack of rebounding and cohesion when Stat, Melo and Chandler are out there. I think it mostly has to do with Stat and Chandler. Also, Felton with a game 6TO's, if you are going to put up that Lin Line, then get some assists. Just one game so no worries. It will take some time for our big three to mesh.

On a positive, very nice to see Prigioni putting up nice stats across the board. Looks like a complete player. Novak with 5 rebounds, wow! Again, we have a new team so it will take some time for them to gel for sure.

Just take the positives at this point..What you saw in the first quarter is a team that executed the plays it wanted to...Amare is healthy again with post moves...He has to finish but he have 3 or 4 new moves which is a little maddening when u think this kid could have done this 5 years ago...But the flow of the game in the first quarter which u know the coach outlined went well...Play broke down as subs came in and different players match up with others...Whats concerning is that play slowed as older players entered the game...So with that in mind, I want to keep White and Copeland...I like KT's ruggedness under the boards but not sure how he hangs with the more athletic PF's off the bench...I'm chalking this all up to rust...After last year's playoffs, just being able to field 5 very capable guys to compete is ecstatic for me...They will work on their game together going forward...Long layoff between game hurts especially this time of year...If u played ball, u know u rust in just one week of non-play...I'm optimistic...Celt's a little later...Go Knicks!!!

Houston traded Lowry huh...

They traded Lowry and failed to resign Dragic. Both dumb moves.

Not sure about the entire story, but I know Kyle wanted out at some point and kinda forced the issue.

Yeah, it's preseason. I mean, the Kings beat the Lakers last night. It was nice to STAT moving fluidly.

since we like posting landry fields quotes.. here is one more..

Fields was asked if he was shocked the Knicks let his best friend leave.

In a subtle shot at the franchise’s instability, Fields answered, “Not really. The last two years with the Knicks, it’s been such a roller coaster pretty much. I’m used to that. If things were consistent, that would surprise me.’’

this franchise continues to be a joke....

We are the only team in the league to have lost a preseason game! Disaster! Looks like TKF and 3g4g were right all along! Cancel the season!

This loss proved:

Melo is evil
The team will never improve
Melo was jealous of Lin
Melo was responsible for us not matching Lin
Lin
The team will never play well together- one preseason game conclusively proves this despite us missing JR, Brewer, shump and Camby
Perspective and reason are excuses used to trick people
Landry lies to protect evil Melo against Lin
You can predict an entire season based on a preseason game
Lin is a god
Felton sucks because although he played well in the first two games, this one game means more because he didn't play well in it
Tyson will never average more than 2 rebounds a game
Amar'e has actually hindered every team he has played with as the team was -16 with him on the court
Lin

Here is the issue with the Knicks. They really don't know how to stick to a plan and execute it. Dolan pushed for Melo and while the pieces we gave up weren't all stars Melo isn't a game changer. He is cast as one but when it comes to winning games his impact doesn't match what they gave up. Trading for Tyson Chandler was a stupid move. We got the defensive player of the year, but finished in 7th place last year. Do we like his energy, sure, but the guy can't score the ball and if you didn't have a deal to trade Amare the deal should have never be done. The three stars we have don't fit well together in fact they fit very poorly. So you trade a veteran point guard in the last year of your his contract and lose your amnesty. You have no point guard and without a buyout for Davis and Smith coming back from China we are the 9th best team in the conference.

So is preseason a big deal. Absolutely. We have a starting unit that has no shooter and rebounds poorly. Old players that need to stay healthy, one young prospect on the entire roster, no draft picks and an offense that shuts down when are star goes off.

Same problems persist. Clearly we are missing important guys, but you're not gaining a lot of offense outside of JR. Scoring is going to be a big problem for this team. We will improve defensively when healthy, but we still have guys that talk a tough game then don't help on defense, shoot every time they touch it and talk about jelling.

Kidd-JR-Brewer-Melo-Chandler - Felton,Priggs/Shump when healthy, Novak, Amare Camby is where you need to go with the Line ups. This needs to be constructed exactly like 99 with two different teams bringing entirely different things.

Taken from above:

THINGS WE SAW
#1: Stoudemire, Chandler and Anthony played a little under 19 minutes together. In those minutes, the Knicks were -17, which works out to -43.22 points per 48 minutes. :-( (MFC)

#2: Prediction: The Knicks are going to miss Jared Jeffries a lot. Our three new bigs — Thomas, Camby and Wallace — are all excellent post defenders and/or paint protectors, but they are not too nimble. Against a slow paced, isolation offense, being big is more important than being quick as the game becomes more about positioning. However, against an uptempo team, unless your big man is the type of low post threat who can force opponents to play bigger, slower guys, mobility is far more important. Not only was getting back on defense an issue for New York’s lumbering bigs tonight, but they struggled to trap the pick and roll, resulting in lots of paint shots and the bevy of top-of-the-key threes Toronto made to ice the game. It also led to a huge offensive rebounding advantage for Toronto as New York’s bigs were unable to get back in rebounding position after chasing around Toronto’s pesky little guards. (MFC)
#3: If there are cynics out there seeking a singular passage of play to represent their greatest fears about the 2012-13 season and beyond, the leader in the clubhouse is now a sequence that occurred at exactly the ten minute mark of the third quarter. Kyle Lowry brings the ball across halfcourt and is met by Raymond Felton about 5 feet beyond the arc. Andrea Bargnani (guarded by Tyson Chandler) steps out to the left wing and beckons for Lowry to go sideline as the rest of the team clears out. Lowry dribbles left, running Felton into a fairly half-hearted Bargnani screen. Seeing both 1) the softness of the screen and 2) Toronto’s intent to create a Bargnani/Felton mismatch, Chandler elects not to bite and stays with Bargnani, trusting Felton to come under the screen quickly enough to deny Lowry a path to the rim. And then:

1) Felton comes under the screen sluggishly, leaving literally zero blue shirts occupying the 23 feet between Lowry and the basket.
2) Chandler, immediately recognizing that Felton has been beaten but still unwilling to concede the open Bargnani look that was likely Option A, points to the open space, knowing that three of his teammates (Anthony, Stoudemire, White) surround the key.
3) Lowry actually slips and nearly falls, seemingly squandering his opportunity for an uncontested layup…seemingly.
4) Melo and Amare converge on the rim as Lowry recovers from his slip and drives.
5) All three players arrive at the same moment with Felton frantically chasing Lowry from behind. Lowry rises. And none…NONE…of the three Knicks at the rim jump, raise their arms, or make any other recognizable attempt to contest Lowry’s layup. Amare bumps him waist on waist, Melo goes with a two handed swipe at his abdomen, and Felton pulls up before making contact and looks the laziest of the three but, hey, at least his chosen tactic wasn’t a guaranteed foul. Lowry finishes easily, the obvious foul is called on Stoudemire (it looked like Anthony probably could have also been whistled, though it was pretty soft contact), and Chandler and Woodson (and if you watch the video please look closely for this because it comes and goes quickly) simultaneously toss their palms out as if in frustrated disbelief before the former affects an akimboed daze and the latter calls timeout.

There, in just ten seconds, is the image of our collective worst-case scenario: the two superstars and the much-maligned point guard being beaten by a combination of poor positioning, limited defensive skill, and general detachment while the team’s two defensive authoritities look on in horror, unable to save them from themselves. (KM)

Are you a cynic? Also, do you think there is any chance Felton fights through the Bargs screen a little bit harder if the game wasn't a preseason game?

Crushalot - That was written by Max Fisher-Cohen AND Kevin McElroy. In general I am not a cynic. Not an optimist nor a pessimist as both cloud their views with expectations. I report what I see and have seen. See, that is why things seem cynical with the Knicks. I guess you want optimism. I bring more realism. And if you want proof of that, just look at the last few years, which I'm not holding against us but when I see it continuing... Same excuses. If I saw great play out there I would post it, and likewise.
