The Roster is right! Just entertaining the thought of hiring IT back is retarded! Dolan is sending this franchise back into the abyss of laughing stockness! I just don't understand this dude. Is it really about winning, or just racking up a bunch of Stars so MSG can be filled.

If his supposed cancer bonehead lazy thuglife chuckfest enemy Carmelo doesn't suggest to D'Antoni to play Jeremy Lin in the New Jersey game, Lin doesn't fulfill his prophecy and become the chosen one.

How you like them apples?

Which shows when Melo wants to speak up in favor of teammates(people in his circle) he can and will. Just like he did for his boy Josh Selby but in this case the organization decided to go with Shump, only for Melo to follow up with an immature tweet about it. Guess what Shump and the Knicks made Melo get over Selby

The question is when it came time to speaking up for Lin again when it involved money and team import....Melo decided I'm speaking differently on it now this time without full support of a fellow teammate. The persona of Lin proved to be too much for Melo

Melo's quote regarding Lin's contract offer was presented and explained in context during the summer league game the day before things blew up about his words when they were taken out of the context in which he said them. Nothing wrong with what he said if its taken in context.

Also, several posters keep suggesting that the Knicks should have waited for free agency to sign Melo. Remember that the owners had told the players they were locking them out and that big changes were coming. Melo was going to get his before the more player friendly cba expired. If the Knicks didn't make the trade for Melo he goes somewhere else at the deadline.

No that was damage control at it's FINEST

But let's take what he said in context...He's still an idiot for saying it publicly especially since no contract had been agreed to at the time of him speaking on it.

And to continue...

Lin's contract breaks down to $8.3mil/yr. That's what his cap hit will be for Houston each year. 2yrs ago we paid Felton 2yrs/$13.5mil that's $6.5mil/$7mil respectively if you add another year that's $7.5mil in yr 3. 2yrs prior to we paid Duhon 2 yrs $11.5mil that's $5.5mil/$6mil respectively if you add another year that's $6.5mil in yr 3.

Which by comparison Lin received a contract that was fiscally richer by $4mil and $7mil in total value based on what Felton's/Duhon's pay scale would have been in progression. Is it really that "RIDICULOUS"

Okay but the contract breaks down differently with Lin

1yr $5mil
2yr $5.25mil
3yr $14.75mil

In year 1 the contract isn't "RIDICULOUS"(could prove to be well underpaid)

In year 2 the contract isn't "RIDICULOUS"(could prove to be well underpaid)

In year 3 the contract isn't "RIDICULOUS"(because it's an "EXPIRING YEAR" what Knick fans have claimed is always valuable to have to facilitate trades in particular larger one's right?)

So what the hell was Melo really trying to say that would make what he said make sense? You can't clean up or clarify what was said and if you need to do this after the fact, then maybe just maybe the comment was OUTERSPACE to begin with.

Just because we had Lux Tax issue doesn't mean Lin's offer per what the market value suggested pgs were signing for this off-season, was "RIDICULOUS."

I tell you what is "RIDICULOUS"......anyone trying to defend Melo over what he said

I think you need to directly quote the entire interview not 'interpet the contract'. Also, am I correct in guessing that you didn't see the summer league game where the interveiw was played in its entirety?

I saw it and he's still a fool for saying it.

The sad part you don't get it and you never will.

You can pick whichever angle you want and it's dumb of him to say what he said

If he's saying Houston is dumb or "RIDICULOUS" for offering LIN the contract(which is what you're trying to spin it to favor Melo's rep) or the structure of the contract is "RIDICULOUS."

Well.....

It's still unwise on his part. There's nothing "RIDICULOUS" about Lin's contract nothing at all.

Am I correct in guessing You nor Melo understand the cap implication from Houston's perspective? I highlighted in the previous post another reason why it was unwise of him to say what he said.

Besides J.R. Smith made comments after Melo stating if Lin's contract was matched it would be a locker room problem. Take your pick as to who you think Earl has good rapport with on this team. Oh and Melo did not once try and clean up what Smith said or suggest Smith clean up his comments.... which is telling especially if by his comments he could be implicating you as one who could have an axe to grind with a former teammate over money that ain't theirs.

I think you are mistaken and don't realize that what every thing Melo says is spun some how into him being a villain. I have no problem with guys being pissed Lin wasn't resigned. It sucked. But the reaction to several words taken out of context by Melo by some is 'ridiculous'.

No everything Melo says is not taken out of context but of course you'll try and paint him as some misunderstood sheep. There are some things he just shouldn't say period. I believe he was thinking Houston's offering him the contract was "RIDICULOUS" which once again is dumb on his part to say. I'm trying to show you even if his initial statement was misunderstood even when trying to clean it up he still comes off as a fool.

Take for instance Melo said he feels "His Time Is Coming" and there's no taking this out of context. I personally feel it's kind of canned and corny. I think Durant said the same thing except Durant qualified his statement in that he shouldn't have to wait until it's his prime yrs to feel "His Time Is Coming" and that "His Time Is Now."

Once again not everything Melo says is taken out of context. Melo unfortunately has said some pretty moronic stuff this off-season for sure and it's not debatable.

It was a very dumb thing to do/say. Athletes say dumb things too often (e.g. Ewing). I do not give him a pass on this one.

Apparently you are one of many. If heard in context I just don't see the reason for all the hate. Lin leaving sucked. That contract sucked. Fans reactions to the media spin on Anthony's commet, ridiculous.

Don't think we need to delve into context. A simple "No Comment" would suffice when asked or discussing another players contract. Why put himself in this predicament - just shut up and say nothing.

How come Novak gets no blow back from this...Didn't he basically say the same thing..Like anything else people who don't like him will use a parking ticket to blame him for the things they don't like about the Knicks...For Christ sake, they are blaming him for Landry Fields play, Amare's play with no PG and injuries and Lin not resigning...Think about that...They have built what they think is an educated argument as to why he played a role in Lin not being resigned and argue this point for months on end...

Novak is/was wrong but nobody cares about Novak and Novak does not make headlines.

Of course the idiots blame Melo for everything - its their therapy. That does not make what he did right. He broke a cardinal rule. He should have been smarter than that - just like when he told the media and fed the vultures with the "I am playing harder for Coach Woodson" quote. He cannot be that dumb and he should know that there are all the Gallo and MDA lovers out there waiting for him to stick his silver foot in his mouth. He's gotta learn from his mistakes.

I am a Melo fan but I have no problem stating when I think he was wrong.

I do however find him to be pretty affable over all and for the most part good with the media (unlike Ewing).

Novak shouldn't have said much about the Lin situation but he was somewhat put in harms way for damage control and we know Novak had a great working relationship with Lin.

Nevertheless the "EARN STRIPES" rule should say no GROWN ARSE MAN should talk about another GROWN ARSE MAN'S MONEY to the press.

POINT BLANK PERIOD!

Looking at the roster:

- 4 best offensive players on the team who can't play defense worth a lick *JR and Melo, inefficient chucker *Stat and Novak, one dimensional offense.
- 4-5 players who are the polar opposite of players above.
- Signed 2 PG's whose priority is to resisitate an injury prone Max player AND somehow figure out a way to make the other max player to play happily with him, which neither had any prior experiences.
- signed a bunch of old vets to long term contracts who are one injury away from ending their career...

It's too bad that game is not played where Knicks can sub in all their offensive players when they have the ball, and sub out when they dont. So at either end of the court, Knicks wouldnt have 2-3 exposed weak spots.

Melo is often labeled as a 'pure scorer' or a 'pure shooter.' My question is this: Why is he a poor 3P shooter? Doesn't logic dictate that a career 32.2 % in 3P isn't really that good of a shooter?

His rookie year, arguable was his best year where he took Nuggets from a bottom-3 to playoffs. Though Lebron won ROY, it was Melo who made a bigger impact to their respective teams. Looking back, Lebron evolved and becoming the player he is today and Melo hadn't. His defense is still piss poor, and his shot selection is as inefficient as ever. Does he carries the superstar brand and price but without the superstar production???

Comparing Melo/Lbj is like comparing Drexler and Jordan. Both were great, and both were dream teamers. One was one of the best ever. LeBron might be the most physically gifted player in the history of the nba. Is anyone evolving to be that type of player? The other thing is Lebron isn't even considered a gym rat. Some 'experts' have said that he could be a lot better if he put in the time.

LoL @ womanly. TKF is the scorned female still whining about trades from yester-year that have turned out to be great trades. As I said, last night Melo served the great GALLO when it counted most.

Um yes. Melo scored more points and scored more when they counted. Oh, and we won. I know ur mad, but go to ultimategallo and drool over your boy toy. This is a Knicks fan site. We like the players that play on the Knicks. We r happy when they win. We dont root for the other team here.

so basically after the rockets smashed us, was it a mistake to let lin and Douglas go as well?

the logic here escapes me.. gallo had a GREAT game last night. nuggets lost, no biggie, they will lose again sometime this year I am sure, but does that change what he said? did the knicks win the finals last night? or are you watching basketball in another universe?

that is the problem you like players that play on the knicks, regardless of what they represent.. I have standards, I just don't root for anyone, I don't care if they wear a knick jersey... that is the difference between me and you.. I don't homer....
