Mike Check One, Two...

(For the hearing impaired)

"I was (at Greenburgh) all morning getting lots and lots of treatment. But tomorrow's a new day, get some more rest today, get some more treatment later on and see what happens from there. But I've had a groin injury before and it's nowhere near the first one. I like to take it off the dribble, so as far as being explosive, I really don't know how that's going to affect it. But we shall see. I'm going to go out there and play and see what happens."

Translation: I am playing because my team needs me.

"I pray for (Amar'e), we're praying for him as a team. One of our soldiers is down and we just want him to get healthy. Hopefully he can come back pretty soon and continue his run with us and continue to have fun with what we have going on. (Amar'e being out) just makes me have to step my game up and become the complete player that the team is looking for. We're going to miss him. We don't really know what his timetable for his return or what's really going on with his back."

Translation: We have bonded as a team. Missing one of our leaders hurts. It may not be pretty, we understand we are in a fight and are ready to rumble regardless.

Translation: I'm terrible at basketball, but I want to come and drop the buckets and be the star with the ball, because I don't want another Linsanity to happen.

Translation: I'm gonna tell you about what I'm gonna do so you'll think I'll do it. And this will buy me some time to make a few more All-Star teams.

What He Really Meant

"I was (at Greenburgh) all morning getting lots and lots of treatment. But tomorrow's a new day, get some more rest today, get some more treatment later on and see what happens from there. But I've had a groin injury before and it's nowhere near the first one. I like to take it off the dribble, so as far as being explosive, I really don't know how that's going to affect it. But we shall see. I'm going to go out there and play and see what happens."

What MarburyAnd1Crossover Heard: "I missed my appointment for treatment because I was out late last night getting my freak on with LaLa and two of her buddies. I don't need no treatment, (Allan Iverson intonation) I'm the MVP!" I'll show up 15 minutes before tipoff and see what happens."

MarburyAnd1Crossover Translation: I ain't never prayed for nothing except my shot going in. That is only after praying I get my standard entitlement of 25 shots per game. Amar'e being out just means I can hoist that much more. He can chill until next season... who needs him?

Translation: More touches for Melo. Melo want some love. Amare does weight watchers and all love him, Linsanity make me look bad, now its MELO TIME! Got my people working on a new t-shirts and working some "theme" ideas. Im hoping me and Lin can create our own "Mel-Lin" type hype. Got my people actually creating a new kind of fruit and we relabel it "Happy Mel-Lin" and market it world wide. "Its sweet, makes you smile, and makes you smarter!"

What He Did

"I'm going to go out there and play and see what happens."

What Carmelo Did: Set the tone by passing aggressively early. Six assists. 9 of 15 for 25 points.

"We're going to miss Amar'e. We don't really know what his timetable for his return or what's really going on with his back."

What Carmelo Did: He smiled as usual. He and Shumpert were extra large in setting the tone. Shump had 6 more shot attempts (21 total) than Carmelo, which flies in the face of anticipated ball hoggeration by number 7.

Some things just cannot be explained.

Gotta give big props to JR this game. When the knicks were down by 9ish early, it was JR's shooting that kept them in the game

With Josh Harrellson falling for pump fakes like Charlie Brown after the football, and Jeffries on the shelf until after Easter - we can expect Carmelo to see more minutes at the four spot. He will have played every position except center.

Anthony was asked to run the team before Linsanity, score from the two spot, match up at small forward against the Paul Pierce's of the league, and now he must turn into a defender of big men. He must make the pass and score. He must box out and rebound. He must be held responsible to do whatever it takes.

Nobody talks about that.

Why would they? It would paint him in a positive light.

Think Melo deserves some positive light with all the CRAP NY
and nba media put out. You can criticize a star without ALL being targeted to 1 sole Person, Melo.

When or if NYK makes playoffs and makes a run winning few games or even 1 series if they get that
far believe you me Carmelo Anthony still WOULD NOT GET ANY credit around here for squat!

that is unfair

Folks feel and want D'Antoni whom I've said many times isnt NY, wasnt ever going to be NY and could care less for the great
NewYork fans as many NY knicks fans believed from D'Antoni.

He's in his ponch fancy Italy homes or out west smiling with his $24 million dollar investment freebies he
got as NY Knickerbocker basketball coach..

Of course I Aint fool to blame every single thing on MDA, it isnt and never 1 sole persons fault
as we/they/media all try to put towards MELO.

However D'Antoni doghouse for folks whom got into his "Doghouse" such as Melo Anthony serves only to me to
let me realize what a can-niver & misleader D'Antoni was really here.

ITs all about him and his systems.
a Coaching Pro hoops system which has yet to win D'Antoni a Pro sports NBA title on his way to riches $$$

Good for him
enjoy yo' $money Mike

Dude this is getting about as tired as the dudes who take every possible opportunity to relate every thread here to Melo is a cancer/sucks/etc.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Thank You To The Groin Injury

“The ball was going in for me tonight, I started to get a little rhythm out there. Why not enjoy these games? This season has been rocky with a lot going on. A lot has happened. But the playoffs are coming, and these are the fun times.” - Carmelo

Forget everything anyone says, it was the decisive ball movement that was the team epiphany last night. With Carmelo in the post, and limited by his injury, he was forced to be selective. The moment the double team arrived, Anthony was ready to dish. The passing became contagious and Shumpert became outrageous. The rare occasions that Carmelo resorted to playing bus driver were in the paint and take them to school he did.

“Well, he (put us on his shoulders). The last two games I’ve tried to utilize him in that way. I’m still learning about this team, too.”

- Mike Woodson

Play Better He Did

nixluva wrote:It does matter that Melo needs to play better. When everything is equal, meaning you go up against the Bulls or Heat, you need an edge to win. You don't want to be struggling to score. You want to be playing great D and O. That's what we sold off all that talent for!!! We did it for an Elite Scorer. Melo has to earn his salary doing what he's supposed to do as our resident Star and leader.

“This was one of the top games. Overtime, Easter Sunday, everybody’s watching, everybody’s in the Garden.”

Harping about Melo's salary is a game for people looking for reasons to resent him. All pro athletes make obscene amounts of chedda. You are paid what someone who sign s the checks thinks you are worth.

We sold off "all that talent" for days like yesterday that send a chill through your entire body and make you scream.

Carmelo Anthony made us spill our popcorn.

So I wonder if any Knicks fan were thinking of Gallinari, Mozgov, Chandler, Felton, as those 2 monster 3's were going through the hoop at the end of regulation and overtime...

ChuckBuck - think of it this way, with the extended courtship it feels like Carmelo has been in New York for five years. In reality, he just got here. Dude has barely played a few games past a full season.

After all the drama and discussion, he is still settling in and we are still adjusting to having him.

Reporters have probed and dissected his every move.

His moves yesterday were pretty good.

That's what I don't get. You'd think with all the hate he receives, he's been here a long time and just completely stunk up the joint. The dude just landed here last February.

Oh, rest assured, the mad hatters 'gon continue the hate. Mark it, we can win a chip, and you'll still be reading, "...well that's what we gave up the whole team for..." SMH

You can cite stats, you can show clips of Melo playing D, dishing, towel waving on the sidelines and it won't matter. The folks in here with eternal Gallo hardonitis are never going to die off.

I don't see any hate. I see strong criticism, which any superstar should welcome, but not hate. He earned the criticism with his play for through most of March but has earned the praise with his play since then.

It's patently amazing how hitting two insanely clutch threes against the best team in the league will do for people's vision impairments.

Doctor! Doctor! I can't see it! I can't see it! It's a miracle! The hate is gone! It's all gone!!!
