If the games come down to 1 possession then true but if not?

Get it to him anyway, if this was earlier in the season. This probably would have been a jump shot by felton or tony douglas. They never got the ball to the best scorer. I recognize Billups on that one, they played melo well, and Chauncey waited and got it to him. You ride your stars in crunch time.

We beat the Pacers at MSG with the former team this year and it didn't take a clutch shot to pull out the victory and we held them comfortably under 100. I get a kick out of fans that think games are going to exclusively come down to 1 possession in the post-season

oh man you miss the point. We beat alot of teams comfortably, earlier in the season what does that mean?

It's a team game, obviously if the team isnt playing well, then they won't win. But the point is, when the game is on the line in crunch time in the playoffs, the offense is usually run through the best players. It is great that we have Melo and Stat to take those shots. Boston has Pierce, Bulls have Rose, Lakers have Kobe, Heat have Wade and James, OKC has Durant, and now knicks have Melo.

They are called "closers"
We got one

We actually have 2 of them...as I will include Billups. Assuming Amar'e gets his second wind in the post-season we may have 3. Getting to the next level has very little to do about our offense but more so the other side of the ball.

Yeah but I know Melo had this ability. He's been clutch, before being a Knick. I'm rather not talk about his clutch shooting but instead his defensive stand and how that could transcend throughout the team.

We've been talking about both his D and his clutch offense in the last 7 wins. Just cuz someone is happy about his game winning shots doesn't mean we aren't equally as happy that he's been stepping up on D.

It's a weird, but GOOD feeling... It's been a helluva long time (since 03-04 if I heard correctly) since we had a winning record for the season.

I think we can get used to this... KNICKS, baby!

That's the last time we made the playoffs, the year we traded for Marbury. Last time we finished over .500 was 2000-01. For some perspective on how long ago that was, we lost in the playoffs to a Raptors team led by Vince Carter and TMac.

Thanks for the correction, VCoug. You know it's wild that the last time we had a winning season record was 10 YEARS ago... wow...

I remember that playoff series, though. I'm looking forward to the Knicks 1st round this year erasing that Raptors series from our memories.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

He was off this game, but he's had some good games. He'll have bad shooting nights like this, what i like is that he didn't let that affect his hustle and he played good enough D for us to get some stops. It's why he was on the floor.

I agree, Williams made some key stops and was instrumental in this win, but he's in the game mostly for his 3pt shooting. At least Melo has been hot from behind the arc and Billups and Douglas can shoot the three as well.

his D has been much better and what i like about him lately is that he is running back to play D instead of walking or sulking. The man is trying his best lately.

I hope for his sake and ours this isn't a ride of good vibes and that he can transform his career and be known as a player who gets it done on both ends every night. Obviously his offensive game will be more potent than his defensive. He said in the timeout...ONE-STOP...ONE-STOP....and he went out and got that Stop. That's huge but it's gotta be a part of who he is and not a phase

Oh and one more thing. You know when people say "stranger things have happened"?

Well Jared Jeffries took two shots including one 3-pointer and two free throws. He hit them all. That's the stranger things that happen.

It sure as hell is, man! All the haters who talked crap about the Knicks during the dark ages are awfully quiet now. Only one of them called me after tonight's game, and I let him have it!

There needs to be an UltimateKnicks meetup for the playoffs....

Am I the only one perplexed at the fact that Shelden is playing well and grabbing 5 rebounds in 9 minutes but gets benched for Jeffries and Turiaf? No offense to Turiaf, he's a good shot blocker but he does little else. Jeffries just sucks, regardless of his fluke shots tonight. Shelden needs to play more, especially in the playoffs. He's a bulky guy who will help us with interior defense, more-so than toothpick Jeffries and Turiaf's skinny legs.

When Turiaf is healthy, the Knicks seem to play better when he's on the floor because he has good defensive energy and can move the ball offensively. I don't see the point in Jeffries- if there is something to him, I don't get it, but I highly believe there is nothing to get. Shelden has been surprisingly good on both ends. He has been much better offensively than I thought he'd be. I think he's finally finding his role in the NBA.

Melo is such a beast. Blew his defenders face off for the game winner. Plus he got fouled on that play and they didnt call it.

Yes on that last play, easy to see too. He got fouled a LOT tonight and didn't get calls.

Jeffries is from Indiana. He outdid himself.
He scored 7 points shooting 2-2 from field 2-2 ft, 5 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal, 1 assist, 2 TOs.

Well the only way I look at it is that we held the Pacers to 13 4th qtr points!!!!! How can you question what Mike did when the team had a great defensive qtr to close out the game with Jared and Turiaf playing? This is why we disagree so much. Your judgement is getting clouded by your dislike of D'Antoni!
