Best game of the year... biggest regular season win I can remember. We played our brand of ball and outran and outlasted the best team in the league and did so missing one of our key ponies. Despite sergio's dislike for Gallo's hair he's a key cog to what the Knicks do.

A fun game thread to read after a great win.. here were my favorite posts:

Great win on a 100 levels. The KNicks continue to come together and our young players are getting better all the time. Douglas is looking healthy again and the Knicks were like +11 in his almost 30 minutes. Thats HUGE when you consider the pace that Felton plays at.

Shawn Williams played really well off the bench.

We still need some size. I really think the next (and final piece) is a true center. crzy likes Nene. That would be a dream fit.

We have a really good young team.

Those Knicks made a statement winning last night's game in convincing fashion. That was GREAT to watch!

Amar'e, Felton and Chandler was our Big Three last night, and clearly outplayed Duncan, Parker and Ginobili. Looking at the faces of the Spurs' big three sitting on the bench pissed off was priceless, w/Manu slamming towels to the floor...lol

We need to do that to more good teams, and continue to put the NBA on notice.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Good post.

The only win that would have felt bigger this season was if they'd pulled off that Boston win. (or either of the Heat games)

I do like Nene, though I have to give credit to Martin for the idea, but the more I think about it - the more I like it. And, there was talk at the draft in 2002 about how he really wanted to come to NY because of the large Brazilian population here. So I think there's a real chance he'd be interested in coming here. The next step is convincing D'Antoni that the Knicks are at their best when Amar'e and Wilson can play their natural positions.

Felton
Fields
Wilson
Amare
Nene

bench: Toney, Gallo, Shawne Williams, Turiaf

and we'd still have a little cap space to add a guy like Rudy Fernandez or something. That would be a brutal and awesome lineup.

What I liked about this game was that every time the Spurs tried to take the lead, the Knicks fought them back. You could tell the Spurs thought they could just flip a switch and put the Knicks in their rearview mirror but they couldn't. When the Spurs realized that they were in trouble, they got rattled and Pops subbed out the starters.

Great win without Gallo. Still more moves need to be made though.

If a Knicks game plays on NBA TV and you're in the NY area, it gets blacked out.

If we do get Nene in the offseason then I think the starting 5 will be Felton, Chandler, Gallo, Amare, Nene. Bench will be Fields, TD, Shawne Williams, Turiaf.

That is a team that can contend for the championship. Assuming TD keeps improving and stop the being a black hole.

Heck, no. Fields is the SG.

Gallo can be our Kukoc off the bench. It's an important role. And if Wilson is having an off game or Amar'e is in foul trouble, Gallo can step right in there.

Great take from the Spurs point of view:

http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursnation/2011/01/04/buck-harvey-popovich%E2%80%99s-message-%E2%80%94-forget-the-record/

For those who had trouble remembering what it was like when the Spurs lost a game, Tuesday evening reminded everyone. For one, the losses seem to involve Amare Stoudemire.

The last time Stoudemire saw the Spurs, he was sweeping them in the playoffs. He’s now 5-0 against a franchise that has lost only four other games since May.

Stoudemire was remarkable in this one, too, and one move showed that. Then, in the fourth quarter, he did to Tim Duncan what Duncan has done to others for more than a decade.

Duncan reached out over Stoudemire, and Stoudemire rose, created the contact and drew the foul on Duncan. As Stoudemire went to the line, the New York chant pointed at the one responsible for the Knicks’ rebirth. “MVP, MVP.”

His teammates followed him to the rim with similar accuracy, which is why Popovich began his postgame remarks this way: “The New York Knicks kicked our ass.”

For those who had trouble remembering what it was like when the Spurs lost a game, Popovich’s words should jog a few memories.

But he was playful as he continued talking. Asked what he would do to adjust for the Celtics, Popovich deadpanned, “I’ll think up new plays.”

Someone then asked him about pulling his players, and he shrugged. “We have a game tomorrow, and it’s a long season,” he said. “The chances of winning the game were not good.”

Check this out by Will Leitch...

The Knicks beat the Spurs 128–115 last night, and the carnage was such that Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, with the Celtics looming tonight, pulled his starters with three and a half minutes left. The Knicks played the type of game last night that, if you were an alien being with an obsession with basketball but no professional team loyalty, and someone gave you a NBA League Pass subscription, you would wonder why in the world anyone would cheer for anyone other than the Knicks. That was about as much fun as you can have watching a professional basketball team.

I can see why, i have watch a lot of spurs games and they have comeback more then a few times, like I said in my spurs fly low thread, they won quite a few games they should have lost.

Man it just keeps getting better and better. The world is taking notice and showing respect for the Knicks. The viewership is up and thank God that many times we've actually played some exciting games. I used to hate when we got our few national shots, we'd get blown out every time.

Knicks were focus tonight

i agree... the Knicks always seem to play the Spurs tough... even in the past couple years we were a crappy team, i don't ever remember getting blown out by the Spurs at MSG.

even still, it was a very impressive win tonight... i'm surprised Pop gave up with so much time left in the 4th quarter, but like u said he knew they weren't coming back in that game... the Knicks had the legs tonight, the Spurs didn't.

we have a terrible record against the spurs since duncan has arrived.

i think we had 1 win in the past 9 games or something like that.

do u have a source for that? for some reason i seem to remember us beating the Spurs a couple times in the past couple years, & even in the losses we play them close... remember having a few discussions about "moral victories" in the past when we played them... i may be mistaken but i could swear that to be the case.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
