Basically Felton didn't run his team very well tonight. After Amar'e he's the next most important player. If he doesn't have a good game we're screwed. It has to start with those 2. Not to mention the crazy night at the FT line. Like the last game we had our chances to a win but we couldn't get that clutch basket. Still let's remember that these are ROAD games against TOP teams and not just games we're supposed to win. So keeping that in perspective I think it was a good lesson for this team, which is very young. We tend to forget that from time to time. This is still one of the youngest teams in the league.

Came down to a few things tonight:

- getting down by 20 or whatever at the half = unacceptable

- we need another capable big to guard bigger guys, give fouls and grab rebounds. Amar'e was good tonight scoring the ball all while having to tip toe through the entire game with foul trouble but what did he grab, 4 rebounds? 5 maybe? Unacceptable..Hey that's Amar'e man--most of the time he'll be near 10 for the game but there's gonna be games like tonight where he's under, sometimes well under. Foul trouble had something to do with it but still, there's no denying we need another big that can rebound the ball in the worst way possible. Would I rather have a well-rounded veteran big that can score & rebound? Sure, but not at the expense of depleting assets. I think Randolph could be that guy (he showed me enough at the NBA level in his time with the GS Warriors where I know for a fact he could be that guy) but this coach refuses to play him. That leaves a d-league call up or a cost effective FA big man pick up..I can't help but think someone like Dwayne Jones would be effective here -- that type of player would've been perfect tonight. Jones isn't that super sexy player, not even that much of a threat offensively (though he did average something like 17 & 16 last year in the NBDL) but he's big, he could've offered some better resistance defending Howard and he could've competed with Howard for some of those rebounds -- that alone would've had an impact in a game like tonight's, esp down the stretch where Amar'e had to continue to step away with the foul trouble. STAT's foul woes left the store wide open continually and it had an impact on Amar'e going for rebounds..I would give anything for a Mason Jr for Dwayne Jones swap RIGHT NOW. We can do a smart lateral move like that RIGHT THIS SECOND that could help the immediate cause while not sacrificing future trade assets or cap room. So what's the deal? Why hasn't a move like this been made already? What are we waiting for? Is releasing Mason Jr really that big of a deal? If so, WHY????????? There's plenty of depth at 2 guard..I can only pray that a move like this is being considered by management..

- not much outta Gallo and surprisingly nothing out of Fields tonight. That hurt. If a move for Melo never comes to pass I would seriously consider shopping Gallo for a solid impact center in the offseason provided we can't get one a different way. The backcourt's basically set as is 2/3 of the frontcourt -- Amar'e 4 and a resigned Chandler 3. Now all that's left is a 6'10"-7'0" that can ball on both ends. Gallo to me just isn't a big time player -- I'd much rather have a guy that can bring it down low over Gallinari's soft, inconsistent perimeter/drive game..I'll find another shooter somewhere else -- gimme another post presence...If we can get that legit 5 that can contribute a little on both ends, everyone goes back to their normal positions and the starting lineup will be set..If we can't get a 7 footer, I'll even take a solid PF type where Amar'e continues playing C. We can win with Amar'e at the 5 -- he proved it in PHX and he's proving it here in NY..No problem going after a real good 4 or 5 eventually, as long as the guy can play and have an impact..

- I like Ronny Turiaf but you can't really argue it: he really doesn't supply enough production on the court. I really wish he'd look for his own offense more..When he takes himself out of it offensively, whether it's by design or whether he really is that passive &/or unselfish to a fault as he appears to be I'm not sure but it hurts the team..Too many times we're playing 4 on 5 offensively with Turiaf in the game, and it's magnified even further with Amar'e on the bench. I'd feel a little better about him if he'd just looked to shoot the ball a little more. Turiaf really can never be the sole interior presence on the court at any given time -- he needs to be in there next to Amar'e or someone else we can hopefully pick up in the interim that can contribute. Turiaf in the middle, Gallo out on the perimeter with a well undersize Chandler trying to guard post players is a major problem.

- Around 4 minutes to go it was a one possession game after that clear path foul where we got 4 FTs, 2 from Chandler 2 from STAT..Right after that, Richardson hits a 3, then Turk with a 3. Any Magic miss after that resulted in a Howard offensive rebound..We needed stops on at least some of those possessions to have a shot but couldn't come up with any. Ball game right there.

what sucks is i keep getting sucked into these fourth quarter fails. but it is like the homer kicks in, and i genuinely believe the knicks can pull a comeback win. which just makes the loss suck that much more.

Last year Duhon was supposedly freezing out Gallo. Now Felton is supposedly freezing out Gallo.

Gallo's teammates cant force him to shoot. He gets plenty of touches. If he chooses to pass that is on him. Chandler could pass up touches too. He just chooses not too.

come to play? he outrebounded our franchise player tonight.. he just got 5 shots.. do you guys not watch the game? felton and chandler had almost 40 shots combined in the first half.. not good basketball....

I saw his game differently. He got boards but at times it was like he was invisible out there. I think you found his one positive on the stat sheet. It didn't translate to what I saw while he was playing.

The Knicks lost because they got 15 points in 100 minutes of player time. Gallo had 10 points in 40+ minutes, Douglas had 5 points in 20 minutes, Fields had 0 points in 28 minutes, Turiaff had 0 points in 6 minutes, Walker had 0 in 5 minutes. Consistency is going to be problem with the Knicks. Young players = inconsistency. How long do we wait on them to become consistent, STAT's window is only so long. MDA isn't helping the bench situation, I thought he had a dog house but it seems like it more like the out house.

I think Kerr indirectly pointed out one of the major problems with D'Antoni and that his over playing his starters and having short practices to save their legs. How are these young guys going to learn and get a break if they aren't getting minutes and are not practicing. I don't know how long practices are now but when D'Antoni was in Phoenix Grant Hill was quoted as saying,"Sometimes we even practice for 45 minutes." I have a lot of issues with this but staying on topic, the young guys can't improve with limited practice time and no hope of game minutes. What was Walker supposed to do tonight? He hasn't seen the court for quite awhile and has no game rythm or in game chemistry with the guys he is out there with. He also has to be looking over his shoulder a bit at the coach. I know the argument for D'Antoni's approach with the young guys is its a man's game and toughen up but there is a lot more to it than that. I don't think things are going to change with D'Antoni and I think that means the ceiling for this team will always be limited. D'Antoni's formula has enough success to tease and tempt people to embrace. However, when you analyze the approach, short practices, focusing only on running and perfecting the offense so that teams have to adjust to the mismatches your line up presents on offense is not a formula for long term success. There is a cute saying about doing the same thing over and over again but I don't remember it. However, I think it is wrong for a coach to approach his job like he is a line worker in a factory always doing the same thing no matter what. It is a great way to cut out the hours required to do the job but I don't think it ever achieves significant success.

Stubborn coach rarely change but did anyone notice that San Antonio changed their game? Pops the best coach in the league...

good personal game for chandler...29 points season high.. Best part of the game for him, when he drove and dished the ball to an open williams for a three.. that is good offense.. we need more of that and less looking to shoot when he drives...

Gallo. 2-5, gotta get this kid more shots.. finished 10/7/1.... this offense misuses his skills..

Amare: great scoring game, although in foul trouble.. gotta rebound man!! 4 boards?

Felton: gotta pass and initiate more.. 6-22? come on

fields: continues to struggle, but I think this also goes hand in hand with this, got for your's type of offense we are seeing now..

Williams: nice shooting game.. needs to focus on defense...

We made hedo look great... christ jesus

We made dwight look like with.. really this guy is so overrated.. but whatever...

we need to beat indy, who will also be a tough game with their size in the middle..

i will give you the reason why

did you catch mda and gallo on the sidelines during the game. sigh. it was like best friends forever. gallo is passing up shot after shot. LET HIM KNOW THIS. be a coach, gallo already has a girlfriend. ffs.

In this free wheeling offense, how does a starter only get 5 shots? I know TD got more than 5 shots

Come on! How many times did Gallo drive to the basket only to throw the ball back out to someone. He was afraid to finish his shot. Maybe Howard spooked him.

Well then maybe we should forfeit the games with San Antonio, Miami, Dallas, and LA. Maybe we should stay home and not play.

MDA should use those games to get AR, Mozgov and rest of the bench a long run. They aren't going to beat those teams should think of it as an opportunity to get the bench some minutes.

you would think a guy like AR could get a shot in the next game after Turiaf & Walker contribute nothing off the bench in the last game, but i'm not confident that's gonna happen... how much worse can you look than putting up a donut? i totally understand not playing AR against a big physical C like Dwight, but in games we play vs. the smaller teams i don't see why we can't get this guy out on the floor & see if he can help us in some capacity.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Actually ..no. Douglas never took a shot in the first half. He was 2-4 and 1-2 from downtown. All during a second half stretch where he played point and not SG. Also during a stretch where they closed the gap with Felton and Stat on the bench.

d'A needs to take the reins off TD and let him PG 10-12 Doing it this way overburdens Felton and cuts TD's growth rate since he doesn't get enough time at the point to blossom

Thats the whole thing. Without Amare my expectations are totally different. With him we need to make a move to be contenders because we can be with another big piece like Melo.

Otherwise whats the point, just to be respectable for 6 years? This is New York. We desire and deserve a championship.
