before you reply well they have to show mda. look we need players playing more than we need mda benchmark of what is or is not enough practice to prove you ready to play. our top five are wearing thin, and it shows.

sorry this mda won't play these guys who we need story is becoming amusing.

mda played randolph, mozgov (he was the starter!) and walker...

WHO ALL PROCEEDED TO PLAY THEIR WAY OUT OF THE ROTATION!

again, so you are okay with playing guys who can't hack it for us some minutes?

did you not see how badly all 3 played before being removed from the rotation?

i believe if we get better replacements that they will get time, and we will see other guys shift down the bench, or off the team.

You can't expect guys to be effective without consistent minutes. There are productive players on the bench but they haven't been given a chance in awhile. D'Antoni needs to spread out the minutes more. At some point the starters are going to wear down. The second night of a back to back where the team travels is a great example of when that is going to happen. Playing against a great defensive team where every possession is a physical struggle is another example. Guys get worn down. If you are a coach you need to develop and use your bench. If it means moving Chandler or Gallo to the bench and starting someone else to make the bench stronger do it.

right, so then you are okay with losing games while they develop?

see, that's one of THE MAJOR REASON'S (i believe) that we have a short rotation.

the knicks NEED to win games more than most teams with the playoff level talent we have as a low level to borderline playoff team (that's the level of talent here, imho).

we can't afford to have our bench make bonehead plays.

we play douglas minutes because he does give you defense, and we have no one else to back up felton.

we play turiaf because of the same reasons with amar'e nor any other legit big.

gallo and chandler are borderline starters, but we have no one else to replace them (chandler has played better of late, mostly).

i wish we had a healthy azu.

I think the guy D'Antoni needs to figure out is Randolph. Maybe committing token starter minutes to him like Mosgov got and Monty Williams got would help. Randolph may not have the mental make up to deal with being screamed at by the coach for every mistake. He may not be at a place where he can prove himself in practice if he thinks it doesn't matter anyway. He is a very young guy and while tremendously talented, he may need something different from his coach than the other players. I think D'Antoni might need to look at him and ask himself what does he need from me to be successful on the court. This could help both of them tremendously and I know it would change my opinion of D'Antoni if he was able to do this. He started two rookies and may be using a former troubled player in his rotation so maybe this is the year of change for him.

and if those better replacements mda finds fault in them as well, then what

does it take a players meeting (ala miami heat) for mda to get the message, keep your top five fresh.

He didn't get the message last year until the GM traveled with the team. Hopefully it doesn't come to that this year. But all of the bad guys or so called low iq guys are contributing and having good years with other teams except Larry Hughes.

I never have called any player a low iq player but it is common practice on this forum. Hill, Nate, and Harrington may have even been called that last year. It was never the coach, always the players and I don't agree with that. Also, Duhon was run into the ground either by the minutes he was given or his alleged partying off the court. Whatever it was he would have benefitted from a break.

I don't disagree with how duhon was run into the ground but harrington is always and will always be harrington (head down drive to basket) as I saw with his game against the knicks an gdub.

sorry, those guys do not merit playing in a big game, right now.

Papabear Says

Wow hey lets just burn out Amear and Felton like we did our other point guard last year. Make it a tight 5 man rotation.

well then you're okay with losing games, because that's what going to happen a lot more if we rely on the rest of our bench.

i agree, down the road and in back to backs it will be a problem.

i think we are going to make at least one deal (maybe 2) before the deadline.

we cannot go on relying on things for the reasons you stated.

The bench is decent enough to give our starters a quick rest. It just needs a decent backup PG because Douglas stalls the offense.

Playing our starters heavy minutes is not the answer.

I love gallo, a huge fan of his and I know he will be a fantastic playe one day..

I like chandler, I feel he will be a good player as well..

I didn't watch the game, I taped it, was out drinking with friends..

I saw chandler didn't do much and gallo shot 1-10 from three..

losing to cleveland is inexcuseable..

time to get melo at all cost.. End of story.. I am on board..

That says a lot because you have a paragraph for any anti gallo sentence. Maybe its time to mix it up.

Problem Is we don't know what we have on the bench. After mda admitted to holding back on williams for whatever silly reason he had , tells me he's 2nd guessing his moves...its also up to amare and felt to let him know when the need a breather.....

It will take Amear to go to Walsh and Dolan to make Mike D to play the bench and if he refuse and continue to loose he is out the door.

I don't think Amare ever wants to come out and it maybe the same for Felton. D'Antoni is making 5 mil to make those decisions. He needs to make sure those guys get some rest.

I saw cleveland get a open layup in crunch time and a 5 foot floater to send the game to OT... He doesn't stress defenese..

I watched our starters get gassed from playing major minutes... dantoni doesn't develop players.....

if he can't improve on these things.. then he needs to go.. real talk..

One of the worst teams in the league on a ten game losing streak is a big game? The starters were too spent to beat them, its almost 2 months to the all star break, when is it a good time to play them?
