So I still don't get your logic. BRIGGS suggests that Lee should be getting a $60M dollar contract and that means Lee thinks he himself is a franchise player?

I mean, you don't add your own perspective to things?

This is your original:

I like Lee too but if he thinks he is a franchise player and worthy of max contract then he will be criticize by me. Lee is great for now because his contract is more than reasonable.

Nowhere anywhere has Lee or his agent suggested that he is a franchise player. Nor have they demanded a max contract.

I bet his agent is angling to get as much money as he can though, just like anyone in his position would.

I am going from the logic that king is as close to Lee as he protrayed in the past. He seemed so sure that Lee didn't refuse a trade to Memphis. Now he says he only knows him from a run in at the Holiday Inn. ok. My bad he doesn't know Lee at all.

My perspective is that he isn't worth a max contract. Whether that means $90 million, $77 million or $60 million. The contract that I have been in favor has been $42 million. Again how does anyone know what Lee and his agent demanded then. All I know is that no extension was worked out prior to the season. So as I say again if Lee thinks he is a franchise player or a max guy he will continue to get criticize by me.

I don't want this guy to hold the KNicks up for major money. Take the $42 million and be done with it.

Friggin trade him for picks... it's too difficult to make up for the mismatches that Lee creates on D.

If we had Camby or Sheed we could make it work, but since none of our GM's over Lee's tenure here have figured out who to pair him with, it's time to cut bait and trade the dude. We should have done it at the deadline, but you've got to do what you can now to retain value.

These debates about Lee and Nate are endless. They aren't franchise players at all. If they were, you could throw three scrubs out there with them and they would make you competitive. That's not the case.

would be great if we could keep Lee & Nate & still attract a max FA in 2010, but unless Walsh can pull some miracle outta his hat next season at the trade deadline by dumping Fishlips & Curry for expirings, this team is gonna have to make the tough decision what to do w/those guys.

TMS, you can sign one Max UFA in 2010 and sign Lee and Nate as long as their total deals are around 11 mil.

The question is weather or not that's the right course of action since Lee and Nate have played extended minutes for a losing team for years.

Lee & Nate combined will be making at least $15 mil IMO... we're not getting Lee for less than $9 mil per & Nate will likely sign a contract around the $6-7 mil per range is my guess... we're gonna have to dump Fishlips or Curry at the very least if u wanna hold onto both Lee & Nate & still have the cap space to sign 1 max FA... u gotta factor in the salary increases of Gallo, Chandler as well as the lottery pick we take in this year's draft:

max UFA $15 mil
Curry $11 mil
Lee $9 mil
Nate $6 mil
Fishlips $7 mil
Gallo $3 mil
Chandler $2 mil
'09 lottery pick $2 mil

right there that's $55 mil for just 8 roster spots, & u still have to fill at the very least 4 more spots, & knowing the Knicks they'll carry at least 14 guys on the roster so that makes 6 more spots u gotta fill... they're not gonna sign up 6 minimum contract players realistically... i guess it all depends on what the cap figure is set at in 2010.

that's an avg of $7M over a 6 year deal. That's what you are talking about?

Considering Lee and Nate, I think that Lee was the better player in the first half of the season and Nate is the better player since the break. Both have matured very nicely and are a big part of this team. Like others before them, both have thrived under D'Antoni.

Yeah, $7 million for him and $6 million for Nate or vice versa, I don't care who gets more. Let them go out on 34th Street and fight it out but both of these guys should accept $13 million between them. None of this talk about $9 or $10 million a year stuff. You can throw in trade kickers to keep them happy with an option for the 6th year. That way you can sign your $13 million max player. I don't think you are going to see anymore $15million player for a few years particularly in 2010. That's why agents are trying to get their players to take it this off season.

Yeah, $7 million for him and $6 million for Nate or vice versa, I don't care who gets more.

For either, that's a starting salary of about MLE if you give 10% raises over 6 years. Not reasonable.
