mardy collins looks like he may not even last in the d-league. the game is moving much faster than he is.

crowd booed big time as they introduced isiah.
crowd booed even bigger as they introduced steph.

when steph scored, they cheered, but most of the time they booed him.

i agree - the "fi-re isiah" chant was mega cheese. golden state kept us in the game by missing countless # of wide open 3's. we should've been down 25 points by halftime. it was annoying actually how gs let the knicks hang around.

that was an absolute embarrassment. end this nightmare already.

btw, jim dolan wasn't there for the intros, then showed up in the 1st, sitting slumped over like he was on the toilet. mills was sitting next to him shining dolan's shoes. barry watkins were next to them too.

this team has quit...again.

are we REALLY in a better spot today than the day layden was fired? my answer is no.

but it's all good tho - as long as chicago isn't winning, or the nets...then this team should get a pass.

It's funny cuz some people want to make it sound like we don't ave any players on this team worth keeping and to me that's not true. They may not be superstars, but GS shows you that you don't need superstars to play some good ball.
The kids Isiah has brought in need good coaching and a stable atmosphere. You think any one of those guys you listed wouldn't be more productive in the right situation? Lee, Balk and Chandler are good young players caught up in a bad situation. I think they care and want to play hard.

I just want to see this team play up to it's potential and I KNOW that this recent stretch is not it. Isiah had 2 days to work with this team and get them ready and they looked horrible. He looked horrible. GS wasn't even playing well and he couldn't figure out how to get his team out of it's funk.

Nobody thinks an 0-7 run is the best this team is capable of, but nor is it the worst (as we'll probably witness in the next few days), so please, stop pretending we're witnessing something beyond the realm or normalcy here. Wild mood swings and dire plummets have totally characterized Isiah's term here. Does 33, 23, 33 ring a bell?

But if you want to proclaim it was Lenny's fault, Herb's fault, Larry's fault, and now Isiah the coach's but not the GM's fault, and never the team's fault, go for it.

Just don't be surprised if everyone doesn't join your bandwagon when our season peaks with a month of .500 ball followed by another precipitous drop.

Man there is a way to play this team and get more out of it than we've seen so far. Just cuz Isiah has mucked it up, doesn't mean that there's no proper use of the players we have. I'm not saying that we don't need changes or improvements, cuz obviously we do, but i've seen this very same group play better and I don't agree with the way this team is being run. We're playing so timid and out of synch right now. It doesn't look like Dolan will fire Isiah, so he's got to find a way to use these players better. He was terrible tonight. No one can look at this game and not see that the team was lost. They didn't know what they were doing. Guys were bumping into each other and posting on the same side of the court. Jamal and the other perimeter players were caught just standing in place and there were no cutters or any motion that would create room for our offense to operate. That's a coaching problem. For whatever reason he's not gotten thru to this team.

Also he's refusing to play guys that might have given the team a lift. How long was he going to sit there and just watch the team fail to execute?

WARD SAYS TEAM NEEDS ROLE PLAYERS
By LENN ROBBINS

May 17, 2006 -- Former Knicks guard Charlie Ward is sickened by what he sees.

It's not the losing. The former Heisman Trophy winner at Florida State and longtime Knicks point guard has endured his share of painful losses, great wins and personal successes, including yesterday's selection into the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame.

It's the way the Knicks lost this season, their utter lack of team play, that Ward can't stomach.

"You look at the roster and they have a lot of guys who come from a I-need-the-ball-to-be-effective mentality," Ward said yesterday. "You've got to have role players. You can't have all superstars or superstar mentality."

Ward was proud of the fact that even though he often started at point guard, he was a quintessential role player in his 10 seasons with the Knicks. He averaged 6.3 points and 4.0 assists, the Knicks were a winning team, and Ward was happy to play his part.

"Everyone wanted a superstar point guard while I was here," Ward said. "They've got a big name now and they're dealing with the consequences."

Ward didn't utter Stephon Marbury's name, and Ward said the Knicks' failure wasn't just one player's fault. But Ward always played a leadership position: quarterback at FSU, where he led the Seminoles to their first national championship, then point guard in the NBA. The floor general sets the tone for the team.

"Guys are different," Ward said. "I really can't fathom people saying they can't succeed in a certain system."

Marbury and soon-to-be ex-coach Larry Brown openly clashed over the guard's inability to fit into Brown's system. As reported exclusively by Peter Vecsey in Sunday's Post, the Knicks and Brown are looking into ways to end their relationship after one horrendous season.

Ward was an assistant coach with the Houston Rockets this season and said he's preparing himself to be an NBA head coach. But he said he wouldn't want to coach in New York, and after watching the three-ring circus (James Dolan, Isiah Thomas and Brown) that was the 2005-06 Knicks, who can blame him.

"If Coach Brown is out, whoever the next coach is will have to work a miracle," Ward said. "It's going to be tough. I don't know who led the revolt, but for it to become public and guys to say they can't work in a style is really disheartening.

"Look at Coach Brown's resume," Ward continued. "From the outside looking in, he's had short stints but he's been successful. For players to feel they can't play a system . . . the Detroit Pistons won a title. They might not have liked the system, but they won. The same thing in Indiana. I just think the Knicks are immature."

If Isiah wanted only leadership and defense out of the PG position than why did he ship off Ward and bring in Marbury. The only skills Ward had that a PG needs is leadership and defense. Marbury of course had everything but those 2.

Because Isiah's goal was to get younger and more athletic.
