Wasn't that the same name we gave to the Curry+Frye frontcourt though?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Fact is, our DEFENSE got better as a result of this trade.

Instead of giving 20 mpg to Frye we're giving 35 to Zach. How does that improve the defense? It just gives 15 more mpg of extremely soft defense.

Fair enough Andy.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I like this deal. I think Curry will be the primary option and Zach outside hitting jumpers until Curry comes out and then we unleash Zach. Also, Dickau is a good pickup. I want to see Nate get moved.

I don't think there's any way Zeke get's rid of Nate. For all of Nate's problems he is still a real talent. He IMO just needs to mature and I believe he'll eventually calm down and stop acting like a 2 yr old. When he does start to act more professional he's going to be a serious weapon off the bench. I'd be just a bit more patient with him and see how he does this year.

If Curry and Zach can co-exist I'll buy season tickets.

Not to worry though, that ain't happening.

Hey you guys on this blog are sick. the blog Exile from the New York times blog are loving this deal. Zeke didn't have many options. We have an all out scorer in Zack and the majority of his points come from not being under the basket. The majority of you guys are not getting it. All of the media a sports people say that Zeke pulled off a great deal. Stop being hatters on this blog. Give Zeke credit and we did get a second round pick, a pure shooter. Zeke ain't finished yet.

I dislike the word *hater* . Let me give you my point of view without this scks rant rave yada yada and stick to numbers.

It's a proven NBA statistical fact that the +- ratio in shotblocking is directly linked to actual WL performance. We were 2nd to last in both shot blocking and defending the three point shot---both along with a lack of depth in terms of jumpshooters caused our demise last year. We did not improve this--in fact we probably are worse.

I kind of thought that we could play off Balkman and Lee with Curry as the primary post scorer and hoping that Channing would regain some of what he lost from year 1 as both he and Jefferies improved from within. But the main piece{Curry] I wanted to see an expansion of his role in the offense because he shot nearly 60% and averaged nearly 20 points on ONLY 12 shots a game. Zach Randolph is a VOLUME shooter --he hasnt been the best % player the past few years--it took him 19 shots per game to average 23 points and while he does have some skills away from the basket-- he primarily is a post feed and I realy believe that each player will not have a clue when they are the *off man* in any particular set which will bloat the post taking away from slashing/driving opportunties from other players and a LOT of TO's and FB going the other way.. EDDY should be th ONLY man in the primary post and I really dont know how they are going to do this effectively. Way to many players with high FGA in the starting line up and the guy we want to move into a higher FGA is now directly effected. Where does this leave David Lee?
Shaq never had a player in the 4 spot who was such a domineering type sidekick. It's shaq's area. He had guys like Horry Haslem Samaki Walker Mark Madsen--guys who were role players. It would be different if we got a KG but we didnt--we traded for a volume shooter and that is his main contribution to a team. Did we need this? NO I thought IT was going in the right direction building a team and after 4 year I realize that he's just a gambler who has a huge pocketbook and also likes the plublicity of taking players who we could acquire in the 2nd round so he can be stroked for the one thing he ha done well. By the way he has had a LOT of latitude.
So if there are a bunch of individuals who believe the Knicks did nothing to improve all important chemistry/ team balance and improve what we were bad at--well at face value we didnt--that doesnt make a person a hater----its just a person who has been watching the NBA for many years and understands the formula for winning championships.

Lol.

Watch everyone trying to rationalize a Isiah move is like watching a deer in the headlights.

Randolph had 11 games last season when he scored at least 30 points and pulled down at least 10 rebounds. That is pretty damn impressive.

At the very least, we need to see how this works out before saying this is a bad deal, especially since we gave up virtually nothing.

And PLEASE don't compare this to the Francis trade. We all knew that Francis was way past his prime. Randolph is just entering his prime and is just becoming a truly dominant player.

I checked out what Blazer fans think of the trade, and most are not happy. The consensus is that the Knicks got a steal.

Yes, taking on another huge contract hurts, but I think it's worth a shot. Agaiin, we did not give up anything substantial. Who knows ... maybe Randolph is that franchise player we've all been waiting for. Maybe with another trade or two, the Knicks quickly become players in the watered-down East.

Let's face it: If the Cavs can make it to the Finals that quickly, there is some hope. I know they have LeBron, but c'mon. They are not a team worthy of going to the Finals. Just shows you how dismal the East is these days.

bobs3304 - have you studied the variety of Randolph's game?

"The notion Curry and Randolph can't coexist because they both excel on the low block is nitpicking. Randolph is a great scorer and can hit from 15 feet."

If berman actually likes a trade then Id say give it a chance. Ill be curious to see if it can work, but if it does, we will have a very dangerous team.

Troubling...last year blazers were 32-50.

With Zach: 25-46
Without Zach: 7-6

Most teams took portland lightly when zach was out of the lineup.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

That win/loss is scary though.

Granted Pau Gasol didn't do much better, but still...

Ouch.

And what does them being able to play with eachother have anything to do with it being a good trade.

Unless they get the kind of chemistry Boozer and Okur have, and barring any Kirilenko addition at SF, our defense is gonna suffer alot.
