When you could go to a Mets game at Shea and buy a general admission upper deck ticket and sit in the mezzanine, because they would literally close the entire upper deck due to a low fan turnout.

From the mid-'70s to the early '80s, I can recall going to many midweek afternoon games, and there were frequently, if not usually, no more than 3,000 people in the stands. Those were the days when, on TV, you could hear conversations between the vendors and the fans. The place was so dead, it was unreal.

I can still hear the PA announcer: "Now batting, the leftfielder, No. 5, Steve Henderson"

--Lindsey Nelson's plaid, glow-in-the-dark sports jackets.
--When baseball announcers would rotate during games between the TV and radio booths.
--Shea Stadium's green outfield walls.
--Bobby Murcer running between the monuments to chase a ball down in deep center field at the old Yankee Stadium.
--Cleon Jones arrested in St. Petersburg for indecent exposure (I think he was sleeping naked in his care, or something like that).
--No-nonsense PA announcer John Condon telling the Garden crowd: "Count the basket, the basket counts -- that was goaltending!"

Back when Richie Guerin, Carl Braun, Kenny Sears, Willie Naulls and Ray Felix were the starting five with Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton coming off the bench. My allowance was five bucks a week and I could get into the "Old" Garden for fifty cents and my G.O. card so you know I saw a lotta games. Snuck down to the better seats when we could and got to sit behind Walter Dukes one night when we played George Yardly and Detroit. Think Dukes was injured or sumpin' that night.

How about the Bowery Boys! Satch and Slip Mahoney. Whenever I hear Kevin Roney, Tyson's old trainer, talk I think of Slip.

Remember head shops?
Real Record stores!
Cigerettes $.55
Gas $.75 a gallon
Waiting in line over nite for gas falling asleep in line with buddies in car and cops waking you up to move it but laughing at same time.
spilling the bong in your friends car, and he did not care?
When "shooting from the line" in the NBA had cocaine reference?
When Magic Johnson was cool?

I'm 80's old. Some of you guys are 50's and 60's old! Maybe even older than that.

I think I might be too young to post in this thread anymore, lol.
