simrud - don't listen to Isiah Thomas.

You can judge the reshaping of the Knicks frontcourt for yourself, or you can wish for the days of Felton Spencer, Frederick Weis, Clarence Weatherspoon, Travis Knight and Eric Chenowith

6'11 Eddy Curry

6'11 Jared Jeffries

6'11 Channing Frye

and The Hearthrob of The Garden

6'9.5 David Lee

what's not to like dude?

What's not to like is that we are building around Frye/Curry/Lee/Crawford and not of them is a franchise player that we can build around. Are they nice players? Sure they are. Fact is, you need franchise players in the NBA to win championships and this team has 0 franchise players and we won't have the flexibility to get one until Marbury/Francis come off the salary cap in 2009. And who knows then if Isiah Thomas will be shrewd enough to make the right decision and get the right players when/if that does indeed happen.

Fire Isiah now, bring in someone who has rebuilt before. If Jerry West is indeed done in Memphis after this year, he is the guy that should be calling the shots for this basketball franchise.

nyk4ever - have you checked the Memphis record?

Franchise players do not grow on trees

Then again, unless you have one specific "franchise" target you think the Knicks can acquire by simply firing Isiah Thomas.

who did you have in mind?

Earl, you crack me up sometimes.

Have you checked Memphis record every year since West has been there? They have won 45+ games 3 out of the 4 years he's been there and this year, THEIR franchise player has been out with injury and is just coming back now. West also pulled the steal of the draft last year by trading Shane Battier for Rudy Gay.

The only way you get franchise players is by getting the top 3 picks in the lottery and the Knicks have been bad enough the last 3 years to get one of those picks but we've won just enough games to keep ourselves out of those spots in the lottery. Someone like Jerry West wouldn't be so dumb to keep himself out of it when he knows his team is going to be in the lottery anyway.

Fact is, this year we won't have a lottery pick because your buddy Isiah will have it swapped. Just another reason to fire him. Let's bring in someone who won't be so stupid in trading away lottery picks for average NBA players.

I don't care who is on the roster right now. The fact is we are way over the cap, traded away lottery picks, and the team is clearly not good enough to compete, as is evident from their performance.

You can't just blame it all on Layden because IT has brought ALL of these guys in. He should have just rebuilt.

You can go ahead and start making stuff up about how Dolan would not let him, but that is just guessing on anyone's part. Either way, the "not rebuilding" plan has been botched as well. It it was not, we would be in the middle of a playoff race right now.

And don't even bring the we are going to win the superfantastic division of ours. Making the plaoyffs while being under .500 is a disgrace to the NBA and should not happen, ever.

help me out here

This is the deepest draft in YEARS and we don't have a lotto pick. There is going to be multiple franchise players in this draft. Oden, Durant, Brandon Wright, Daquan Cook even could end up being a franchise player.

I love when you ask these kinds of questions that are impossible to answer, like the one you posed to me here. Who do I have in mind as a franchise player, I don't know whose coming out in the draft but there are atleast 2 franchise players in every draft, if you have the top lotto picks to draft them. Unfortunately for us, Isiah traded ours for an average NBA player.

You ask alot of questions misterearl but you hardly EVER answer any that are directed towards yourself.

Oden is the only sure fire franchise player who could be coming out in this at this time. Could change later, but Durant, Wright and Cook are not Franchise players right now. Durant hasBig time Talant, but so does Gay, being a Franchise player in college is a BIgtime label...

Two franchise players in every draft is simply untrue.

nyk4sometimes - Depends on how you define "franchise"

Is Iverson franchise? He was picked first overall.

Duane Wade?

Tracy McGrady franchise?

Greg Oden my butt

The last franchise player was Lebron.

How many years were the Cavs putrid to line THAT one up?

I guarantee that if we had Wade on this team instead of say, Crackbury and Fransucks, we would be one the better teams in the Eastern Conference.

simrud,

I thought it was funny and it does come with the territory. Calling him a pedobury, terrorbury, wife-beaterbury, might be taking it too far.
