We need to take someone who can play Center over a SF like a Granger or a Graham. Unfortunately, even if those 2 becomes better players over the long haul then a Frye per say, by making this trade, unless we sign a C, we have a gaping hole now.

Another thing, I know Granger and Graham are great defenders, but I still want to give Ariza the shot to become our starting SF. By drafting one of them, we'd stunt his growth/pt.

Come draft day, I want to just ignore positions. We have to draft the best player available no matter what. Fortunately for us, it sounds like Bynum just may be the best player available.
Let's just remember, Weis filled a need too.

We aren't good enough to address needs rather than take the best player available. If Granger falls to 8, we better take him. But just cause we have a need at center doesn't mean we HAVE to select one. Graham would help this team so much and with guys like Hunter, Gadzuric, and Chris Anderson on the market we'd be better off grabbing Graham who will develop anywhere between Bruce Bowen and Artest (without the drama).

Also, what if Miami said lets not take Wade because it might stunt the growth of Caron Butler and they already had Eddie Jones? They had a gaping need at center also but went with the best player available and it paid off big time. We need to do this! My draft list is Deron Williams, Bynum, Granger, Graham, Paul, Felton... Only Bynum is a center but I'm interested in getting the guy who plays on BOTH ends and has the potential to be an allstar year in, year out.

if we don't bring in a center this summer, either via the draft or through free agency, we will not win 30 games next season.

second, if the deal is Q AND a conditional #1 - then this is isiah's best trade to date and hopefully and sign of things to come.

conditional #1 leads me to believe it's a future pick and not one this year.

My point is this is a process. We'd be better off signing Chris Anderson with some of the MLE and start him, play him 30 mins a night. He'll provide us with what Jeff Foster provides Indiana. He'll give us the shot blocking we need.

I'd rather sign Hunter or Anderson and take Graham/Granger is my point. It would help the overall development of the team in my opinion.

I follow your point and taking the BPA is always of course most desirable for any team. But it's never that simple. If one guys is significantly better then another, then you take him regardless of position, but if player A (who doesn't fill a need) is graded an A and player B (who does fill a need) is graded an A- or even a B+, 9 times out a 10, the team is taking player B...it's just reality.

And what says that we don't already have a very good SF in the making in T Ariza?

I keep reading that Q is 6'6''. I know that's what he's listed at on the Suns website but I'm almost positive the Clipps had him listed as 6'4. On the court he definitely looks small.

However, he is definitely able to make up for this height difference due to long arms and the fact that he's as strong as an ox. He loves posting up and plays bigger than he is. However, I think he's a 2 all the way and think he'd be playing out of position at the 3.

I agree that we should take Bynum, Granger, or Graham. Granger is going to be gone at 6 more than likely. However, you put a beast like Graham at the 3 next to Marbury and Q and we have ourselves a very nice foundation. It gives us the flexibility to move either Crawford or Marbury. Q instantly becomes our best post player and we would have a very effective offense. Add a guy like Boozer and we are so solid on both ends of the court for years to come.

Marbury, Q, Graham, Boozer, Hunter(MLE)
w/ Crawford, Ariza, Sweetney, Rose, pick 30 off the bench

Thats a youthful team that can play at both ends. We address perimeter defense (Graham), post defense (Boozer, Rose), and shotblocking (hunter). We have some post up options on offense with Q and Sweets.

now we're talking! If Isiah isn't going to surprise us by taking Bynum at 8 we must draft Granger or Graham and truly solidy the frontline through trades and the MLE Not with the 8th pick in the draft! I think Q used to be listed at 6-5 as a clipper

Ariza has a lot of holes in his game and room for improvement at only 20yrs old. He's not Lebron folks! We could always use a guy like Ariza as a spark plug and injury insurance of the bench.

I know talent and I do have a good feelings for who will pan out...Bynum will take at least 6 years to finally play like a Center....He is not ready for the league and by the time he gets there, he will be in a different uniform...Frye is the better player, but Taft will be the Amare of the draft....However, Frye believe it or not is the one with the mean streak....Get Oak in to teach him how to be even meaner, and let my man Laimbeer polish him up some....

Would it just be too bold or "insane" of me to ask you where you got this perception from? Or should I just assume you "intuited" it?

Well, following Ford's Mock Draft, we could get Taft with the #30 PICK...

Anyone still think Isiah made a mistake by giving Kurt that contract extension?? Assuming this trade occurs, giving Kurt the extension enabled us to add Q-Rich.

Good point Bonn. I dont think it was a mistake either way, I know alot of people want to blame Kurt for the Knicks problems but it wasn't all his fault, he played out of position nightly for this team and he still was a productive player. It seems like things are starting to happen in Knick-land

Here's something nice from the realgm article about the trade:

" There has been confusion over which side would receive the draft choice, but when this story was first broke by RealGM.com, late Wednesday night, my source said that the Suns would receive the pick, but it is now appearing that the Knicks will receive the conditional pick from Phoenix."

"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

It wasn't a mistake at all...we couldn't really afford to let talent go, b/c being over the cap we couldn't replace him. As long as they could make a move when Kurt still had value, it made sense. We also didn't have the PF glut at the time.

AWESOME. We recieve the pick and don't swap first rounders??? That would make this a GREAT trade.

If this report was true, it's a fantastic deal. And some people were saying to just stay put, make no trades this summer, just draft and sign players.

I'd love to get the Suns #21 this year in the deal. We'd be completely robbing them!
