I’ve said this before. KAT is playing the game wrong way. He is not playing to his strengths, he holds the ball and forces shots while doing it. He is extremely talented and a great passer but his defense is mostly mental, he has the size and (expected) quickness to defend better.

He needs to drop some weight and become more agile like his 1st few seasons in the league. We need that KAT and not the head down drive into traffic and hope for a call but get an offensive foul KAT. Or this chuck a 3 and pray KAT.

But as already said in this thread, we cannot win with this version of KAT.

We also cannot win with this version of Brickes, I mean Bridges. He needs to go.

I really think this roster will change a bit after the deadline.

We can’t keep so many inefficient players for the rest of the season and it’s clear that we are not a lock for the finals.

Leon has his work cut out for him and the Villanova trio must end.

Why end the Villanova trio just to end it ? They are the culture of the team. It’s what works. Fix the stuff that doesn’t work.

I don’t want to trade KAT for nothing, but it’s becoming very clear that eventually the Knicks will need to make decisions around the second apron and can pretty much resign deuce and Mitch, plus add another defensive center and good scorer all for the combined price of KAT if they do it right.

Wonder if Kevin Love would be an upgrade over Yabu that would fit in the playoffs.

Only as a very very last resort and probably only after he got waived or bought out. Which means that Knicks would have needed to get that far underneath the second apron.

Why trade Yabu and a second for Love when someone like Alvarado is sitting there too and is a similar need and useful beyond this year?

He needs to lose weight. It would make him quicker and he would still have a size advantage

With Clarkson and even Kolek seemingly out of the rotation, I can see Alvarado playing here

Knicks have to make sure there isn’t a Giannis trade, but I’d guess this’ll happen

Bare bones trade: Yabu, cash, second rounder

Well I hope we do trade Yabu for Alvarado and Missi, and get Love as a buyout. I just wonder if Love would fit off the bench and contribute on defense.

in order to sign Love they need to shed money in this Yabu trade to afford a pro-rated veteran min. We also need to convert McCullar's 2 way if you want him in the playoffs and he will also need a pro-rated vet min. They have like 60K of apron space so they need to shed a lot of money in the deal to do that.

Missi is in play with Indy being in the mix for Mathurin. If true, I don't see Missie AND alvarado for just Yabu.
Also what is Missi's long term upside and can we fulfill it? If not, he won't stay. As long as its for the parade, thats cool.
Where does he fit? Behind Mitch? We trading mitch? Question is who will pay mitch and how much?

Love once upon a time was an elite rebounder and outlet passer. He could be servicable in spots.

There has been some talk about a 3 team trade with milwakee, portland and NY to get Gianis. Would we want/need to keep KAT with Gianis?

Fischer already offered one potential solution, citing longstanding Portland interest in Knicks forward Mikal Bridges. The Knicks are the one team Antetokounmpo is known to have expressed interest in, and the Bucks, presumably going young after Antetokounmpo, wouldn't have much reason to keep Bridges. That creates a straightforward three-team alignment: New York gets Antetokounmpo, Portland gets Bridges, Milwaukee gets a bunch of other stuff from the Knicks or a possible fourth team along with some of its own picks back from Portland.

Need to see that "bunch of other stuff" before making comment. We not concerned Giannis calf issues?

Nope. If we swipe Towns for Giannis we should have a straight enough path to the Championship. With Brown or without him. I mean, Giannis is two way. He gets calls. He is like the anti-Towns. Yes we might need to change the offense a bit, maybe. Yes we aren't going to be as deep, but a team with Brunson and Giannis could really have many great options for vet min or MLE signings. Even with Brunson and Towns we already had our share of vets willing to come here for peanuts to chase that ring.

Hope there is a good KAT trade out there, but the reality is he may be very difficult to trade.

We may be stuck with him which is too bad, because there is no chance we contend with him on the roster.

You may get to the ECF, but you don't win there or in the Finals without defense.

Unless Mitch can play 30 minutes every playoff game, we'd get cooked by teams with young athletic wings and defensive bigs.

If we faced Detroit in the first round, we'd lose this time.

If Rose can get good value for KAT, my hats off to him. It's a tall order.

The real prayer here is Giannis playing hardball and letting the rest of the league know he won't extend with anyone but the Knicks. That's our primary hope right now.

Media frenzy knows how to fuel recent losing slide with oodles and oodles of trade rumores to satisfy the most intense fan.
It will come and go and unless we get a blockbuster will we not be disappointed? Angry?
Of course. Then we get to more articles of summertime.

Let me remind that teams need to overcome adveristy and its part of the journey to a chip. Few teams hit a rough spot as we did and then just bail on its formula.

"but its not working"..........

True to some extent. Now, the gray area's are there are deals that might make sense. Few teams do mid year blockbusters and then succeed for many reasons. If Leon was presented with an offer he could not refuse, he should do it. But one that might bring in a star but leave the roster incomplete is best suited for an off season move.

"but the window is open now......."

It is. Which is why i'd rather bank on knicks in year two pushing thru with what we got. This was never a slam dunk we'd come out of the east. NOt in the age of parity. Too many wild cards. We might have been favorites on a statistial basis. even a 33% chance also comes with 66% it don't.

Enjoy the ride and the journeyfilled with adversity! Its why chips are special when they occur. Not taking a end to end season of domination and eventual coronation as a bad thing, but its rare in pro sports these days.

"We will neer win with KAT!"...........what are the real odds of winning without him?

"Giannis is the path".......Is one for one trade really a reality? If not, what is the true cost?

"is an OG as core piece, and say Mitch/Dadiet/pick for Giannis worth it? Hate to lose OG, but KAT/Giannis frontline is enticing!

"Portland give back all its picks for KAT/MIkal? Is this like a haters wet dream concoction for those fans needing an outlet for Mika/Kat frustrations. Dial that **** in and get the clicks! It the algorithm that draws you in and validates the dark side wihtout the "darkness" associated! Closes the mind into a revenue generationg click! Never mind Jrue is owned 70 mil AFTER this year will be 36 by this seasons end. Giannis keeps popping his calfs. What can go wrong?

"Stay the course".........Boring. Yes it is.

Right now, this is the bottleneck. I think there are agents out there courting Giannis who have the leverage to make a trade happen.

Waiting until the last minute has consequences.

There's going to be a trade
