One thing clear is this team needs a vocal leader who actually plays on the court. CP3 is turning into my main target Ngl. 2013 Kidd vibes

Good read. My takeaway is that the locker room was missing a veteran presence and despite the solid performance it’s still learning how to click.

Chris Paul should be here next year …. Hopefully for vet min

Agree...after reading the article, you have to think CP would be a huge addition for leadership and smarts. Jason Kidd's corpse did a lot for the team that 1 year.

Maybe split the MLE between Paul and Horford. Get two vocal leaders who will actually play on the court. And then explore trades with Hart and Mitch. Extend Mikal.

I think Vet min at 3mm is more than splitting the 5.7 MLE. These guys have made a ton of money so maybe they play for 3mm and we save the MLE for a Laravia.

Honestly, I think you have to explore moving KAT. I’d call Sacramento and see if there’s a path to a Sabonis swap — better defender, better passer, and a cleaner fit with this group.

Would love to see us use the full mid-level on Dennis Schröder — gives us another ball handler and adds some needed edge and toughness.

Minnesota could shake things up too. A McBride-for-DDV deal wouldn’t be lopsided either way, and might work for both sides.

Between Kolek, Dadiet, and Hakaporti, I really believe we have two future rotation guys in that group.

Going forward, health has to be the bet — it’s hard to bank on getting a group this intact again. And Brunson needs to lean a bit more into facilitation. OG has more to offer offensively than we’ve tapped into.

Priority should be to move KAT and Hart and get some consistent shooters. Other subtle moves like moving Payne and Wright could help in the process.

You’re probably only getting one of them with the $5 million MLE if we are lucky. I would prefer Chris Paul he can take Cam Payne spot in the rotation.

Thibs is getting another year. He locked himself in after the win over Boston. He was clearly outcoached by Carlisle this series and I’m still furious about Mitch riding pine most of the second half last night but in all fairness Thibs deserves at least next season.

Everyone is screaming to trade KAT but the guy the Knicks need to trade is Hart. He is Jalen’s boy so he’s going nowhere.

We may just have to explore a KAT for KD trade.

KD is a better scorer and defender even if much older.

Mitch/Huki at C, and try to sign a guy like Hortford.

Move Hart to bench.

Mitch
KD
OG
Mikal
Brunson

honestly i would even think of expanding a deal with Mikal going back to PHO and Grayson Allen coming here. Much better shooter and fit at SG.

Depends on them - do they value a couple extra million at this stage versus a ring.

I agree this has to be on the table. Probably the best chance we have to get out of KATs contract if we determine his deficiencies are too much to overcome. Durant on paper fills a ton of holes we saw exposed on this team in the playoffs in terms of deep shooting and even ball handling / secondary creation. He would probably be the best #2 option in the league immediately on this roster.

Jalen - Mikal - OG - Durant - Mitch would be the best defensive team in the league with zero holes to exploit incessantly like we have to deal with w. KAT.

I didn’t realize KAT and Booker were college teammates but they were

Paul got $10 million from the spurs this season. Yes he’s 40 but he’s still a name. Maybe Paul takes a paycut to try to win a ring in NYC to crown his career I would think it makes sense for him even if he can make more money playing in some podunk market with no shot at a championship

PHO has some interesting piece, and KAT is the best player they'd be able to get for KD, and he's great friends with Booker.

KAT & Mikal for KD, Grayson and Nick Richards would solve alot of issues for this team.

Mitch/Huki/Richards
KD
OG
Grayson
Brunson

with Hart and Deuce off the bench plus whatever youth steps up. IDK if we'd do something that drastic but it would make us better and deeper.

But maybe its as simple as KAT for KD.

Durant rejected the Knicks for the nets he told the Knicks how he really felt. Kevin Durant is not coming here and he can’t handle the pressure of nyc.

Basically his longtime agent Leon would need to convince him to take the vet min and sacrifice a couple million so they could then use the MLE on another piece.

He didn’t want to be a savior and he wouldn’t have to be one. This is Jalen’s team.

Knicks are in a different position than they were a few years ago. They are actually the place you go to find a stable franchise with a star player and great odds at a championship. We are not in the Steve Mills era simply begging people to come because of NYC fame and fortune. So whatever happened when that was the case is irrelevant to us now.
