Dallas has significantly better in conference record than both NO and Lakers.

I’m assuming that would give Mavs the tie breaker if they end tied with either LA or NO - is that right?

It’s annoying this wasn’t an unprotected pick because at the time KP had that type of perceived value.

He was hurt, but I agree. That pick was to protected. Should have been 1-4.

We waited way too long to trade KP. The exact right time was 2017 when Phil got barbecued by most Knicks and the entire media for even asking other GMs what they were willing to give us for him. The trade Perry did later on still worked out I guess we got rid of him and dumped THJ’s crappy contract which allowed us to sign Randle

Phil wanted to trade KP for Lauri, who was just as injury prone. Coincidentally they're both having their breakout season.

There were several trades Phil was negotiating. One was KP straight up for Dearron Fox. The kings ultimately said no after thinking about it. The Celtics offered us Jaylen Brown plus picks and Dolan vetoed it.

As far as I can tell, both teams said the Knicks were asking for too much. Nothing about Dolan vetoing the trade.

There is a possibility that the mavs might not win any mire games. The pick moving up to the top 10 is very much possible. That team just dont know how to play defense. Looking at doncic, he is all offense and barely plays defense. Aside from his fit with Jalen, not sure i want him as a knick.

If we add Luka we need 3 defenders around them. And the SF must be able to defend 1-3 and maybe that’s Hart.

We can still win a chip, but it will be based on our offense. Luka and Brunson will be attacked all game so one of them has to be on the worse offensive player and hart (for example) will defend the most dynamic player from position 1-3.

Actually wouldn’t Luka just replace RJ. There defense is probably equal but on offense, it’s a major upgrade. So actually it might be a great fit, depending if and who we have to give up if this is via a trade.

Luka could not have defended herro and Butler as RJ and Josh Hart did last night.
I agree Luka at the 3 is perhaps where he goes but he has to stop whining and get back on defense. RJ might not be all defensive team, but Luka is really bad in defensive transition.
In no circumstance do I not trade RJ as part of a luka package.
There is a logic were Dallas needs Randle scoring fans to cheer for somebody and IQ or Brunson as part of a big deal.
RJ makes three starters and I assume they want pick or two.
There would be voids to fill and sometimes prices are too high.
At this time we can be fine with either Brunson or IQ Remaining with Deuce as back up. Also Ihart or Mitch remaining with sims as back up.
As windy said Knicks can make two deals. This is very much true.

Luka/Grimes
Brunson/duece
Jhart/?
Obi/?
Mitch-Ihart/Simms

WE give Dallas 3 starters. one is an allstar, Iq is rising star, RJ is solid 20pt scorer at 22 years old.
It hurts, but Luka could be worth it.

Do I do that? Im not there yet.
