You know NOTHING! Tony Allen made a career Off Defense and he’s not even close to the passer Frank is. Guys like Frank tend to stick in the NBA! Fans are assuming Frank isn’t going to improve his offense but chances are he will.

It's safe to say he's just trolling with that comment.

Found this quote from the Berman article on Frank. Its in reponse to being ready to be a starting PG.

If it's going to be now for me, then why not?" Ntilikina said. "I'm taking care of being ready for the moment."

That comment concerns me as a fan because it sounds like someone who doesnt understand how bad he is on offense. Goes back to what I was saying about Frank not getting it. Doesnt look close to a starting PG.

I think he will too but he's missing a certain aggressiveness. He's too passive. He's not on a Tony Allen level. He doesn't have that motor. It's not fair to say he's a bust yet, but it's also not fair to give him a pass cuz he's young. He signed up for this.

You gotta be more patient. I understand you want to win immediately, you want frank to be a success immediately but thats just not reality. I think you make some fair points about him BUT saying he sucks is just inaccurate. He has been up and down which isnt a unusual for a 19 year old kid. I think he has shown some good flashes on offense espcially when he has played with mudiay. Does he need to be more aggressive on offense? Of course but thats all about being a rookie and learning the pro game.

I'm not taking about wins and losses. I'm just talking about Frank and how we go about developing him. I keep saying over and over that I'm not giving up on the kid...

I keep getting the comment for me to be patient.... the same could be said to the ingress that want to force him to play minutes that he doesn't deserve. If you can be patient maybe Frank can earn his minutes if he gets better.

Then you don't really understand how the NBA works or how teams value defense. Again, his impact right now rates above Smith, Fox, etc. Flashy plays and points aren't everything.

So... putting on my Mr. Obvious hat... when learning the game of basketball, we're taught to move the ball if 1) we're double teamed or under pressure 2) we're not in a position to score or 3) someone else is in a better position to score. That's the game he's been taught.

He has played so well at doing what he's been doing that he was rewarded a professional basketball contract in his mid-teens, and $3.5 million this year as a 19 year old in the NBA.

By the end of this season, I wouldn't be surprised if he'll have made over $4 million before the age of 20! More than most of us will make in a lifetime.

With all that said, I think he's very conscious about his offensive deficiencies - but he's been taught not to force the issue. By playing at an early age against bigger, stronger competition has helped reinforce that.

US-born and raised players are used to dominating same-age competition with their sheer physical talents that they develop a certain recklessness - they're used to going full speed into the paint with reckless abandon, with confidence that they can improvise once they're in the paint, and heck, I'm bigger than those "big men"! No problem!

I think one of the more obvious problems with Frank is that he doesn't want to possess the ball after he crosses half court. Getting rid of the ball seems to be the goal more than setting up teammate for a better shot. Also, I can't remember Frank facing a double team. He gets rid of the ball before he has a second player commit to defending him. I don't watch Frank and think that I am seeing a better, more pure point guard because he isn't aggressive and doesn't put pressure on the defense. I don't see him as a guy that moves the ball so well because he is looking to set up his teammates. I see a guy that moves the ball because he doesn't want to have the ball after he crosses half court.

first off i dont think he is bad on offense. Im not saying he will ever be a bigtime scorer but he definetly has offensive skills that will get better with more experience. I actually like his quote. Frank is a humble kid but i like that he is starting to crave for more responsibility

Don't get your panties in a snit. It's my prediction. Just as you're looking into that cracked crystal ball of yours making a prediction, that he'll develop an offensive game, based on nothing, zero facts or foundation. You make overly optimistic predictions about the Knicks' rookies every single year, and say how this time it's different, and *I'm* the one who knows nothing? So you're whole point is that the Knicks "knew he was raw offensively". Yeah, so? What does that prove? That says he'll magically be able to become a developed and effective offensive NBA player in 3 years? Based on what? Back the F up with your "You know NOTHING!"
If I'm wrong I'll be happy to eat crow. But my prediction is more likely to be right than yours. Like every other year.

The reason our scouts have confidence in Frank’s ability to improve is based on their close observations of his progress and underlying talent. Just cuz he’s not yet a good shooter doesn’t mean a Pro Scout can’t predict whether he can become one. Just watching him it’s obvious that Frank has touch and needs more work but I see nothing that should prohibit him from continuing to improve.

You clearly missed the point I made. Tony Allen has made a CAREER as a defensive guard. He’s not the passer that Frank is already. Allen was 23 in his rookie year. Frank has time to develop his offense and confidence in his scoring. IMO Frank is smart enough to know he’s not developed enough to be hoisting up too many bad shots right now.

I’m not comparing HOF KG and Kobe to Frank. I said they had ups and down.
And nobody was comparing them to HOF players in their rookie years. KG was drafted 5th? I forgot. Kobe was 13th pick. Take a rookie tape, edit and look back.

I’m rooting for my man whose mother was a refugee and lived an exile of hell to raise three boys more impressive than most of us here. Family whose older brothers looked after the kid so he cold blossom and become perhaps a famous global athlete. A kid who given a chance could rise up.
I’m rooting for a knick rookie and if it’s a big delusional so be it. Not sure what all the hate toward his talent is but some of it is kind of over done.
Upside is about risk. In the face of what some of you are writing I applauded the risk and embrace it then the gutless wonders some of you exhibit. Knicks go know where when they trade picks for safe talent and y’all whine. Then they change gears and draft with upside and fear of the unknown and lamenting in hindsight is pretty weak in my opinion.
Many of you wanted Malik Monk as well. I would not write off his career either at age 19.

200 post about a kid who is avg 5 points..The bottom line is, if he doesn't show a vast improvement next season he will be traded. Clearly the knicks don't have a lot of faith in him, or else they wouldn't be scouring the nba circut's for cheap pgs to help

What Knick fan isn't rooting for Frank? I just don't see any similarities between him and the guys mentioned other than they were young when they were drafted. If you compare a prospect to guys with elite athleticism and the prospect doesn't have that you are going to get called out for the comparison. Making a bad comparison is on you. It doesn't make other fans haters.

I said hating on his talent. Not on him.
I said HOF rookies had inconsistencies. Kobe was over confident.

I don’t care about what a players says. The context of being interviewed is different than making a statement.
All that matters is what’s on teh court and we all see the good and the bad.

BTW, do we think frank passes too early because he is afraid? If his coach wanted otherwise do we think he would not say it? And we then assume frank is ignoring him? “Frank, dribble deeper into the play!” Anything think there is a benefit to it? Or do we want a ball dominant stagnation like Wall? Wall is an allstar but is his game good for his team? Kylie is superior at this. Frank is not KYrie, and not yet Wall either, so why ask him to control the ball later in the cycle? Also, he can get the ball back. To me, he plays like a rookie, and he plays like a coach wants his rookie to play. A rookie not yet polished and has a lot of upside.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on Frank's offense.

To me it consists mostly of Frank giving up the ball ASAP, wether or not its in the flow of the offense.

I thought Frank was the worst player on the world team in the rising stars game, He is so bad offensively even when no one plays defense the kid can't create of the dribble its unreal. Its very disheartening, and hearing he is going back to France this offseason won't help his offensive game either.

This kid is far from ready and he really hasn't shown much progress, look at his scouting report from a yr ago, and tell me you don't see the same issues now..

thats cool i respect your opinion. I think you make fair points abour frank giving up the ball quickly BUT i think most of that has to do with lack of experience. That will get better with time
