Yeah I like Crowder. He'd be good depth. But it sounds like Boston and he both want to do a multi-year deal this summer.

Carroll would like to play for the Knicks and fisher, and is unrestricted, so he's the more realistic option- Crowder is unfortunately restricted.

I think the Lakers and the Knicks are both going to be bidding on Carroll though. His price range may get up to like $15M per season... that's way high for him. I'm go up to $12M in year 1... but not much higher than that.

Think the Lakers pick up Jordan Hill's $9mm option? If not he might be a nice reasonbly priced target. At 27 years old he's improved his game and might be a decent fit

If they take Russell, which is something I continue to believe they could do, they might want to keep Hill for now...No?

If they take OK4, I would think he'd be gone, but who knows.

Wonder what Phil thinks of his game and how it fits his system?

If Ok4 came to #4 thats a player Id keep.

If OK4 falls to 4, I think Phil may have a heart attack. This is why I don't want to make any promises or agreements to trade BEFORE the draft. There is a fair chance that Okafor or Russell slip to 4. If that happens - we run to the hills with an all-star.

If not we take Stein or Mudiay or Winslow and have a good chip to build around.

But even if there is only a 5% chance that OK4 falls to 4 - I want to be sitting at four with no promises and no deals to draft Porzingis for Minnesota or some such. I want to be able to take BPA at 4 - ESPECIALLY if one of the big three slips for whatever reason.

I dont believe it works that way.....at 4 we are in control of all trades. If we pick ok4....then all trades are off.....you have the trade agreed between both parties....that way its only a 2min discussion or less before we pick. Thats when its official. But all that doesnt matter....we pick stein...overpay crowder.....buy a second rounder.....phil will be busy this off season. The UK board will be filled with BRIGGS threads.

Most people think Winslow will be a very good but not outstanding player. I've been thinking about this for a while and I think that's fine. A very good player on a rookie contract is great because he takes up little cap space, or alternatively is a great trade asset. I think it's at least as likely that we could use Winslow in a trade to get a superstar (pulling off a James Harden like trade like Morey did) as it is that Mudiay or any of these other guys available at 4 are to become superstars. Or at least as likely that Winslow improves the team and makes this a more desirable FA spot.

Winslow is a very good defender and a guy who does the intangibles...His intangibles were huge in the run to an NCAA championship..I didn't realize he shot 42% from the three with 3 attempts per, while not being a good shooter..He finishes well around the rim...If he can guard SF and SG, I think it's a no brainer...

the upside questions are a bit overblown... he's 19... ppl talk about him like he's a college senior...

he's better than a lot of SG/SF's at the same the age... probably not as good as dwyane wade or durant but that's about it...

He's a young 19, too- late March b-day, I think.

Dying to see videos of him shooting off the dribble.

He's considered a smart kid and a winner.

I've been backing other players for the Knicks to take, but if he can show me an improved shot off the dribble and perhaps some midrange shooting ability, I think you could make an extremely strong case for him at #4.

Just wish he and OK4 would put out some bloody workout videos, even of the non-team type that we saw with Towns and Stein.

I am curious why that has not happened just yet

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

The workout tape we saw from Towns, Russell, Stein was very clearly a marketing campaign for them. It was a smart move. I'm a fan of all three guys - but to me the only thing that says is that they have a better marketing plan than Winslow and Okafor.

Some guys don't perform well in 1 on 1 video's.....I believe thats the case with Mudiay. I think he has star potential, but due to his workout video, some lucky team will draft in mid first round.

towns russell and stein are with CAA so it was a joint workout to get their faces and games out there...

winslow is with roc nation.. jay z's agency... which i thought was a bad move but i don't think it matters much either way...

Interesting. Well, we know the CAA ties run deep with Melo and NYK.

That is true, but everyone knew his stroke was pure. I think it is easier to get stronger and work on some shooting footwork than it is to retool you shooting form.

Winslow has a lot to prove as a shooter, despite his success from the college 3.

He's working out today...no?

Hoping that he shows some more polish. He has all the other qualities and intangibles you want as a player.

I agree. Given how many NBA players struggle with their shooting for their entire careers, I'm surprised how easily fixable some here think this issue is. That's a big concern of mine with Mudiay. I'm not that concerned about Winslow's shooting since he did so well from 3 point range. That shows a lot of promise already.

Winslow has documented issues with shooting off the dribble, which scares me. (2/19, or something like that)

I think the scouting reports talked about him not being regarded as a good outside shooter coming into college. Was his shooting % from 3 this year an outlier? Would he have done the same if he had stayed another year in college and teams put quicker players on him?

His ability to drive against bigger players in college probably helped his ability to hit the 3. Can he drive at will against NBA 2's and 3's? Wonder how many of his 3s had anyone in the vicinity when he shot? How quickly can he set up for the shot, or his he someone who needs time or space to set-up and get ready to shoot.

Hopefully we get some good info coming out of his workout today, as well as some videos.

I don't think the Knicks have traditionally shown video of their workouts, just interviews. It'll be interesting if that changes this year. Maybe to try to justify their guy, whether it's Winslow, Stein, Payne, whoever.

True. Never liked his form, but the drop-off was pretty amazing. Had some elbow issues which hurt him in Toronto...maybe that issue began with the Knicks.

Seemed like he was going to be a valuable asset.

One thing to remember- he was a guy the Knicks did not want to give to Denver in the Anthony trade. If we had been willing to include Fields would we have been able to keep Mosgov?

I think it had a lot to do with the fact that he played the four and benefitted from OK4's passing put of the double team. The good news is that he's shown the ability to knock them down. Similar guys like Quentin Richardson, Jimmy Butler and Jerry Stackhouse have shown that things like ahot releases and shooting of curls can be refined through repetition.

If we had been willing to include Fields would we have been able to keep Mosgov?

nah ... walsh wanted moz more than lance.

lances shooting was declining fast while he was still here.

this is why short term stats are a bit scary. Winslow had lots of space at duke to get off 3's. Won't be like that in the NBA.

all that being said, I still would choose either him or stein.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

he's better than a lot of SG/SF's at the same the age... probably not as good as dwyane wade or durant but that's about it...

He is young and these things takes time..Clay Thompson was a spot up shooter when he entered the league...
