Oh, and although we got the turnover count, I will mention Melo the Inefficent got 30 on 19 shots. I'm sure that's due just to ball hogging jab stepping iso revisionism though.

Dude i think you are pushing the "melo hatred" thing way too far. There might be 1 or 2 clowns that are just trying to push the buttons on]f knick fans. 99.9% of fans agree that melo should take the final shot because he is our best player. The only time i wouldnt is if he has 3 guys on him. I think you are a good fan but you overreact to the "supposed melo hate"

I am not yellowboy or Uptown, my friend. I'm pretty sure either of them will gladly fight you to provide verification of that fact.

It's one post in the whole thread; not exactly flaming the board with triple spaced couplets, am I?

Its just something i have noticed. Im not calling you out at all. Im just saying i dont think melo gets the hate that some thinks he does. I agree he does have a microscope on him more than others ecause of his talent and wat he makes. However like i said 99% of fans want melo to have the ball in his hands in crunch time

Funny, I'm not calling you out either, but did you notice the next two posts after yours? I'm not the only one who notices it and takes note.

Trust me, Melo gets more concentrated hate on this board (granted, the voices are very few, but very shrill) than probably anywhere else.

And if it wasn't for Melo's sudden efficiency this preseason, you'd be reading the same dozens of posts from last season/offseason whining about TS% and how much better PG is.

I caught the game and I just read the whole game thread to see what guys were talking about.

While they both had high TO games you would think from this thread Melo and Stat were Marbury and Francis.

They combined to shoot 16-27 (59%). Amare "the worst rebounder in the league" pulled down 8 boards in about 20 minutes. Melo's TOs were bad. Agree but he chipped in 3 assists and 3 steals, and Mr. Blackhole shot 11-19. The pair combined for +1 in a game won in the Knick's final possession (who hit that shot?).

Larkin has to learn how to play under control. If he slows down too much he's useless. If he plays out of control he's useless. But when he's under control and aggressive he's not only effective but good. Dont be suprised about the rebounding. He's a football player, dude is tough. He's also got 50 NBA games under his belt. He needs experience and confidence.

Pablo can shoot it. Nice clutch shot late. Nice job sealing it by Melo. Horrible job almost giving it up by JR.

I always liked Sammy and really wanted him a few years ago. He's looking great.

Sorry for the white guy to white guy comparison but Jason Smith reminds me of a slightly more athletic Doleac.

What I get from this thread is whether its Acy, Larkin, Shumpert... whoever, guys are desperate to root for anyone besides Melo, Stat or JR.

They shot well last night but what happens when they are off?

4 assists and 9 turnovers wont cut it (1 -> 5 for Amare)

They are not looking to pass, they are only looking to score. That sh1tty mentality has to change and it was pretty glaring last night.

Amare did rebound well though his defense was awful (of course).

Amare isnt a passer. He's a finisher. Amare will move the ball in set plays but his job should be to score and at 55% that is how he is going to impact the game positively. I dont have a big problem with a guy who scores at that rate being a stopper.

No excuses for Melo, Phil has called him out on exactly the same, but you have to give him adjustment time as well. Yes he needs to trust his teammates. That goes both ways... his teammates have to play with confidence and effectiveness. This goes both ways and is going to take some time. Ive been hearing this for a long time. When guys are playing well Melo doesnt pass enough. We they are playing poorly it because Melo doesnt make guys around him better.

It would appear he's inconsistent so far....some good shooting and some not so good. Definitely not a sudden efficiency as he has been. The thing that is something to look out for is his threes havent been good so far.

Man it's almost getting embarrassing with these guys looking to take a negative angle on everything. This team is trying to make a MASSIVE change from selfish ISO BB to a completely different system. Many players have talked about how hard it is to make this transition to the Triangle and so far a lot of our players have actually shown a fairly good adjustment to it. Melo is a guy that really had to make a significant change in how he thinks the game and to play within the system. He's showing signs of getting the hang of it too.

These negative guys are just upset cuz the preseason hasn't been a complete disaster as they anticipated. More of the players are getting the Triangle than they said would. According to the guys who are down on the team we didn't have enough players capable of playing in the Triangle. One prediction was that Fisher would be forced to ditch the Triangle and run something else before too long. So they have to jump on Melo cuz well not much else to talk about at this point. Gotta have something negative to say...

Reading is fundamental I said that some thought he would be "forced to ditch the Triangle and run something else before too long." That doesn't mean preseason. You just always want to look for the most ridiculous thing to key on. Why would anyone think he'd be "forced" to change the offense in preseason?

As for you claiming you don't use preseason it hasn't stopped you and others from slamming the team based on how they looked early on. Do you deny doing that? Look everyone pretty much knew it wasn't going to be automatic. Some changes can have a rather quick improvement because it may rely on just using the players athletic ability. Like for example running and gunning. For teams that make a change to just pushing the pace it may show quick results because it's so simple. The Triangle is basic but not simple because of all the very specific rules players have to master. The spacing, timing and passing angles. Having to read and react makes it harder to execute naturally until players have done it over and over so much that their brains just react instinctively. It's gonna take time for this to be instinctive to our players. Some guys pick it up faster than others.

Good Power fowards shoot a very high pct and also pass the ball. There is no excuse yet people for some weird reason still give me a pass.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Are you seriousl;y mad folks are commenting on the games? I told you before , you're focused in the wrong place. Check the gamethreads, everyone comments when good plays are made and when things dont look right.....thats what a fan do. We all know it will take time, the beyond obvious, but what is obvious to some is that some will NEVER get it.

And thats where you fail.

That's a helluva reach by you or you being very premature with timelines

Don't be silly. Of course i'm not mad that folks are commenting on the games. Stop acting like you've never read any of my posts over the last decade. You know I understand how things work here. My comment was clearly not just about comments on this thread. I referenced other comments made in the past regarding this teams chances of adjusting to this system. There are those who think this will fail.

In any event there are those who predict doom and gloom for this team and they were jumping with joy when things looked shaky in the preseason. They haven't really had as much to talk about since a lot of the players are starting to get the hang of things. That's all i'm saying. The longer these guys work on making the needed changes the better they're getting. For some it will take longer and yes some may never get it, but we don't know that for sure.

Who said Preseason was gonna be a complete disaster

Preseason has been mediocre, that's what I think we'll be

The assessments of team center on the "regular season"

And what this team will be able to accomplish

I never use preseason as a means to

Judge a team's regular season success

There are still several unknowns and traits of concern

Do you really think anyone, no matter how down they are

No one is jumping for joy to see the team lose, and thats why I continue to say you focus on the wrong things alot. We're all Knicks fans, I seriously doubt anyone posts on here with any other guise in mind. But what i do see is irrational posts, perhaps I may have some, although I will give credit when it's due, and when it isnt I will state my piece there as well. there is nothing wrong with a poster thinking this will fail, especially when they can explain why.

Is the team getting better? Sure. Is it at the level of being able to compete on the nightly basis? I'm not sure, but I'm leaning towards "no". That can change once the rotation cements and the guy who hold the team down in progress will be limited in action so forward progress can be made.

I'm not saying people aren't fans of the Knicks. I'm saying some of us dislike this roster or certain players so much that they express very little to no support or faith in this team. It's what I call Self Hating Knick Fans. I don't have to accuse anyone their comments make it self evident.

No different than ones who harp on them for feeling so. it's not like this team has enjoyed 10 straight years of playoff appearances. they havent, been awful for a while and decent recently with a setback. Even though I dont like this roster at all, i do think they may be better than last year. but that isnt saying much...last year is easy to improve on.

I disagree with the rationale of being overly pessimistic based on the moves Phil has made to improve the balance and fit of the roster and the huge improvement of the coaching staff and the new system. Phil has openly stated what he wants to accomplish with this team and nothing they've done so far suggests they aren't up to the task of changing the culture of this team. Rather Knick fans should be more upbeat given the change to a real basketball mind being in charge of things.

To be clear it's not rationale to be nasty and negative given the vast improvement in team leadership over who was making decisions before. If a fan can't appreciate the difference in having Dolan making all the major decisions verses Phil then they can't be helped and deserve to be called out. Everyone doesn't have to be ecstatic but geez some of the negativity is unwarranted IMO.
