Either that or he went to a mediocre team because he cared more about getting 3 years of guaranteed $ than about winning another ring.

He was getting the same offer from Dallas. And he said one of his reasons for coming here is because he sees NY's roster as giving him a better chance to win.

Tyson Chandler !!

From his radio interview:

"It was a tough decision,'' Kidd said today. "I looked at their roster and felt I could go quietly and retire. Or I could try to compete and help a team win. So I saw the pieces on the Knicks and felt I could help them out. Dirk totally understood, which helped me make the decision."

I never doubted that he had said the right things.

So you're just ignoring the fact he took the same
Money Dallas offered to come here?

I guess you're right. He's lying. No way he can think that NY has a better roster than Dallas. (Saracasm)

How can anyone say it is a bad contract - it is only a --> 3 <----year contract, unless I heard wrong
(4th year is a team option, so it is only a 4 year deal if we choose it to be)
The numbers are nowhere near as bad as they could be in that 3rd year. If anything, Houston did us a favor.

3 years at the price the average NBA player makes. It's a good deal.

Still another week of unofficial news?

I wasn't thrilled about getting beat a bunch by Kidd back 10 years or so ago, but it wasn't like he denied us a championship - ever. We weren't close to winning from '99/2000 up until now.

Jordan, Olajuwon, and maybe one year each for Miami & Indiana....That is who killed any shop at a title The Knicks had 1n the 1990's.

I like the Kidd signing - and I bet most of the people that say he is too old, in the next post want to sign Camby. Also, I don't care how on top of his game he is - Nash is pretty old as well.

You CAN have a couple of fossils on your team if you have young talent at the crucial spots, and while we don't have any super young talent, our key guys are mostly 5 years from losing a step.

...or maybe I've just drank too much this sunny Saturday afternoon.

That is a great contract to sign Lin to. The fourth year is a team option, so essentially you get him for $5mil for each of the first two years, and if it turns out he is way over rated, he becomes a $9mil expiring contract in his third year. Whats not to like about that?

Bingo!!!!!

That may keep our second unit scoring very efficient, while Melo and Lin can handle the first unit scoring if Woody can teach them to play together.

But if Amare moves to 2nd unit who is our third big in the first unit assuming JR is the 2? We lost Fields and if Melo plays PF who will play SF? BTW -I still think Amare should start but I think him playing majority minutes with Kidd and Novak can be potent.

I've wanted our starting unit to be Lin, Shump, Novak, Melo, and Tyson with Amare and JR coming off the bench for a while now.

I love what the Discount Dentist did for us last year - be he is not a starter - I don't know what this White character can or will do - but he might be the right size/bodystyle for that slot.

....and even if 'melo is GREAT at Power Forward - He isn't one.
Amare needs to start there - I haven't given up on him....yet. He gets until January 1st with a then grace period of 5 games, or until the 15th to show something.

Lin - 'melo - Amare - Chandler - and the 2 guard remains to be figured out at this time.

Didn't know where to post it and haven't seen it yet (sorry if it's been posted) and thought it needed to be posted. Kidd does very well for himself and obviously has a type...BAD!!! As in bad meaning good...reeaal good The downside is we might have to be subjected to TJ's forehead on the sidelines. Kidds DNA must be loaded with PED's cause his new kid looks bigger than Blake Griffin.

Anyway back to the topic- I've calmed down a bit about this move. Basically if getting Kidd is our only biggish move of the offseason, I hate it. If we can still get a SG/ combo guard that can play some point if Kidd becomes Bibby esq, then I'm okay with it. We still have some serious holes to plug on the roster though.

Kidd wasn't happy in Phoenix and Steph... well... he wrote "All Alone" on his kicks that one time - which tells you how he felt about Jersey.

I found this article via Google: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/nba/suns/2001-06-28-trade.htm

@allzoner

Just got off the phone with NBA free agent Raymond Felton. He says a deal is about to be completed sending him back to the NY Knicks.

How is that possible? It would have to be a trade and I doubt they had assets to make the trade.
