If you don't teach it, emphasize it and demand it as a team goal then I don't think you can fault the players too much.

The players are still at fault. They're out there playing. I don't care if my coach is not telling me anything. I know as a human being that I need to stop the other guy. I play my best on defense when I am playing basketball with my friends or whoever. I never let up. It's pride and hustle. You need to have it inside you.

spurts

Better spurts than none.

He cannot do everything all the time. Sheesh.

We have to make those spurts count.

that sounds like a shawn kemp line.

Damn, didn't realize this game was on ESPN. Can actually catch the 2nd half.

Shitty foul call on Melo. I love that intensity on D, "foul" and all.

That sounds good on paper..but human nature doesn't work like that..The Coach is like a General..if the General doesn't care about defense his players won't.

I'm not absolving the coach but to say it's very little on the players is giving them a pass. If a guy like Amare is consistently awful on defense how much fault is that on the coach? Amare puts no effort on defense. He doesn't care about playing it. He never did for anyone.

JEFFRIES with the steal!

Nice passing to get it to Melo. Yes.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I agree but then you see D'Antoni has coached him most of his career.
