What the freak is he supposed to do when his best players are not getting it done. You think we can just win games without them playing well? These repeated statements from some Knick fans are just ignorant. This team was averaging 106 ppg and now we struggle to get 90 pts. That just doesn't make sense. The team is built to be a shutdown team. Not without more size. That trade only made us weaker on D, so the team MUST be good on offense. For some reason we've gotten worse.

It is well known that DOES NOT put an emphasis on defense, we are a one trick pony team when we can't score we ****ing lose. The ignorant one is you bro, believing that this joker with his run and gun no defense style is going to win the big one day. Child please.

Oh shut up. You're just spouting the same parrot talk all these other guys have been. No real analysis of what's really happening on the court. Just "MDA doesn't focus on defense" as if that's the only thing you need to do and every team in the league would be defensive juggernauts. It doesn't work like that. At some point you need to have the right players to get the job done. Our best 2 players aren't good or committed defenders and since they log starter minutes that means when their on the floor you have some holes on D.

Tonight the Knicks didn't lose due to D. Sure it wasn't great D, but this was about horrid offense, much like the other losses have been. we haven't reached 100 pts in any of the last 5 losses!!! This for a team that avg'd 106. To me that is a problem with the offense. This team isn't setup to be great on D. We have to be great on offense.

The Knicks have won 96 out of 238 games with this coach. You have a million excuses but it is almost the end of his third year. I think his adjustment period, time to get guys to play his system, not having the right guys to play his system period is done. I never thought he had the right approach in the first place and I have posted it from the day he was hired but please stop asking people to blame the players and be patient 238 games into this guys tenure.

238 games into the guy's tenure with how many of tehs ame players on the roster? TD is the most seasoned Knicks and he's in his second year. It would be a different story if MDA had a stable roster that is underperforming but he once again just got a new team 18 games ago. The guy deserves at least 1 year with a talented roster that is together for at least a season before an actual judgement can be made.

I get upset at TD's play sometimes but he is frequently the hardest working player on the floor on both ends. A couple of times the ball movement looked pretty good, so good that you have to wonder why the F they aren't doing it more often. Still would like to see some picks set for Melo.

Agreed, I feel the same. +/- stats are something that shouldn't be only emphasized but for me, tonight highlighted guys who play both ends of the court end up with:

min fgm-a 3pm-a ftm-a +/- off def tot ast pf st to bs ba pts

TD actually does certain things very well. He is able to function as a scoring guard in this system and knows how to get his shot off and penetrate. He's not a great passer or PnR guy, but he is still effective cuz he's doing all the other things right. The Defense has to react to him because he's a legit threat at all times. This opens up other options as long as the ball moves. If he ever learns how to run PnR and to keep his head up and look for his teammates as he's driving, TD would be a really good PG. He does it sometimes, but not nearly enough.

With TD's quickness and shooting he should be able to get 6-8 assists a game easy. He's has his games where he's looking for teammates, but just doesn't do it consistently enough. He'll shock you once is a while with a big assist game. Have to remember he's only in his 2nd yr. There's still time for him to get better.

He was really going after them. It stood out in part because the rest of the team looked so flat. If TD could improve his decision making I wouldn't be against resigning him. Those stats also make a good case for widening the rotation. Carter should be getting minutes.

Don't look at +/- figures guys unless there is a better way to decipher the stat

Toney Douglas in the previous game didn't have a good +/- neither did Shawne Williams and lol Carter had been banned to the bench with several DNPs in a row. The last game Melo/Turiaf/Mason/Effries had the best +/-

Douglas was very good beginning to middle of the month +/-(when Billups was injured) but has slipped in this statistical area to middle of the pack to lower half.

Coach is looking at starting him now alongside Billups maybe from here on out. What an arbitrary(extreme) move to make if so but hey he's doing what he does best....COACH BY FEEL and without core principles...... because Fields was the glue guy with starters right? The player who couldn't be offered in a trade right? The guy who gets the key rebounds and makes the right cuts to the basket right? This means Carter is back in the rotation. Funny how Fields Minutes are slipping now, meanwhile Amar'e continues to get ran into the ground.

Papabear Says

Lets get real!! D'Antoni needs to sit Billups down and let TD start and keep Fields in the starting lineup. This will give us 3 guys from the old system before the trade who know each other and this will help Amare get his game on.
