THE KNICKS WIN*

*with caveats

1) coach stubbornly keeps short rotation (even with hurt players)
2) Gallo injured
3) TD in obvious pain, no sub
4) Ronny hurt also, no sub
5) WTF

good win.. pacers play ugly and made this ugly..

Big 4th by amare, he was getting beat up down low..

Chandler didn't shoot much, but I think that had to do with SF's like granger and posey guarding him.. no mismatch. but chandler didn't force the issue and played hard.

Gallo: great game, 5-8 and got 19 points pretty easy. I hope he is OK, injury cut his game short. He displayed a nasty left hand.. he goes left and can use his left to finish as well as anyone I have seen, especially at his size..

TD: best game in a while. 7 dimes is the most important stat for me. He played very well in that first half, resembling a real PG..

Felton: got outplayed by collison, who IMO is the best guard out of the UCLA bunch, yes, even a better point than russel brick brook.. kid can play.. felton needs to shoot less, distribute and control tempo more..

Turiaf: saved the day. 10 boards and 6 blocks.. made every big play it seemed on defense.

Shawne williams: 5/5, solid game..

good win.. I will take it..

19-14

an understated review. gallo was posting up and calling for the ball plus finishing. GALLO.

you never know with this coach but if he can bottle that and have gallo repeat that game after game. this is a big turning point upward for the knicks.. but like i said you never know with this coach he is a crack addict for the three ball.

DUDE! I'm gonna say this and hope that you will finally understand. The things Gallo did today are ALWAYS there for him to do. This system isn't limiting, it's what you do within the framework of the play. Mike has always said that the ball finds energy and if you want to make something happen it will. This is not about Mike's system it's about Gallo being aggressive and Mike has said that for years. STOP BLAMING THE COACH for players not stepping up and taking charge of what they do on the court.

imho this coach rules by fear. which is fine. it is a motivator. but the fear is, do as i say or it is the out-house for you.

so if i see fields shooting threes, which frankly i dont want to see him do, i blame coach. if i see gallo idling at the three point arc, i blame coach. if i see felton taking his shot first too often, i blame coach. when i see corrections like what i saw in gallo tonite, i credit coach.

I'm trying to tell you that you're wrong. The spacing of the floor doesn't mean that you MUST shoot the 3. Having the green light isn't just for shooting the 3 but also for taking it to the hoop, posting up, making cuts to the basket etc. As these players mature and learn how to use ALL OF THE OPTIONS in this offense you start to see them doing that. Fields does all of those little things and that proves the options are there. Gallo has ALWAYS had the green light to pumpfake and drive or take his man at any time. Mike has told him to be more aggressive for years now! Mike has said this in print many times that he wants Gallo to stay aggressive. Mike wants FT's cuz he loves high % offense and nothing is higher % than FT's.

no.. he was guarded well briggs.. granger and posey played him left the whole game, plus they are long, good defenders.. chandler was still hustling and playing hard, so trying to use the "he was out of it "excuse is a bit dissapointing bro....

Chandlers cool n calm demeanor on the floor always baffles me... even when he hit that buzzerbeating 3 from halfcourt he just turns around and walks to the bench... no smile no nothing... thats a really weired character trait there...
I like him though. Think it can be a nice supplement to fired up guys like Turiaf, Gallo and Stoudamire!!!

The funny thing, Chandler is what the NBA aparently wants from everybody, no emtions can be showed these days, or you get a tech.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

For the most part, he wasn't being guarded by a PF who couldn't keep up with him-very few open jumpers today.

To his credit, though, Chandler did not try to force things, and made the big 3 pt shot near the end of the game when he was left open.

exactly, he didn't force anything, which is to his credit...

The NBA really should limit these early games. It's almost always AWFUL BB. I just don't see why they have to be that early or why there have to be so many of them so early. 3:00 is early enough for most families. No need to throw the players off by having them play so much earlier than they're used to.

Knicks continuing to beat sub .500 teams, no complaints here. Stat still dominating 4th quarters. Great to see that from our franchise player.

You know that seems like a small thing, but it says something huge about this team. We know how to get him shots in the 4th qtr. Most of the time it's very hard for teams to get their best player shots, cuz teams take that away. We've been VERY good at getting Amar'e touches and in scoring position even tho teams know that's our goal. I'd say that's a victory for Felton and MDA. To get your star off when teams know that's where you're going takes some great execution and some planning to put just enough of a wrinkle in how you do it that you can still succeed.

While we'd all like to see the Knicks pick off a few dominant teams (I'm confident they'll have their fair share of upsets), it's critical that we win most of the the games against the sub-500 teams. It's amazing what a difference having a top-5 NBA player on our squad does.

The rest of the team remains a work in progress, but it's very nice seeing the team execute on both offense and defense in the clutch.

I'm a little bit worried about Gallo talking about a clicking sound in his knee. While broken bones are bad (X-rays were negative), sprains (and tears) are potentially much more challenging from a recovery standpoint. Let's hope it's just a mild tweak. For his sake, I would hope the Knicks hold him out of the next game.
