Good question, and I think the answer would be YES, as the Knicks (or another team trading for Melo) would want him to sign an extension too.

and we'll throw in our 2014 1st rounder and the Golden State 2nd rounders.

If we lose at most Gallo/AR/Douglas for Melo, we're still in great, great shape. Still have Fields, Chandler, Turiaf, Mozgov, 'Buike, Walker to round out the rotation. We'd need a backup point to replace Douglas, but we can sign a vet one like Antonio Daniels as a stopgap for now, or look to trade for Jonny Flynn, who doesn't seem to have a place in Minny with Ridnour playing well and Rubio on the horizon.

Two months ago, giving up Gallo/AR was considered way too much, but because AR's proven pretty expendable to our success, it now seems more palatable.

I dont think we should gut our roster for Melo. I dont want us to gut our roster for Melo. To me Gallo/AR/Fields is too much.

Now unlike some people who cry and moan about trades 2 years later so everyone knows they were right (despite nobody caring, cough cough TMac trade) if Walsh trades for Melo I will root like hell for him and hope he is the star here you envision him being.

Furthermore when we win a title with Melo (or even go to the finals) I will print out a "TMS was right about Melo" t-shirt that you can wear at the next pub outing and I promise I wont bukkake in it or anything like that (hope Marv doesnt get it first, cant control that old guy when he takes those purple pills).

I would like to see us develop our own talent, and I think we have good talent and I think we should be patient with that talent and allow it to develop.

I have also said Melo is better than Gallo, Chandler, Fields and anyone else on our roster not named Amare, but I have also said he's not worth giving them all up for.
