Man a lot of posters got owned in this thread. I wasn't around then but I understood why the trade was made very indifferent to it at the time.

Hardcore this team IMHO was gonna make the playoffs witout Marbury, so the question is how far can this team go with him as is ? Let me hear your response so I can blast you away.

Hardcore was flipping out , like he just got some for the 1st time.

I knew this was a marketing move, I wanted to win it all .

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I was a junior in high school when this trade went down. I nearly lost my mind. Marbury was my favorite player...before he came to the Knicks. Damn I really thought we would become the elite in the east after that trade.

BBallJones has put me on to cruising UK history. It's so awesome. It puts so much perspective on things. Look at this thread as an example. UK used to be overflowing with joy and positivity -- a stark contrast to today.

This is hilarious seeing what people said about Marbury and how they talk about him now. What a difference a couple of years make. I personally am looking forward to either: 1) IT redeeming himself and getting the Knicks to the playoffs; or 2) IT getting fired. Either one will be a breath of fresh air for Knicks basketball.
Trust the Process

I think it's because people got beat down through the Layden years. Then Marbury supplied us with a ray of hope. Then Tim Thomas was brought in and we knew we were doomed
I just hope that people will like me

Damn real... Time for a STARBURY jersey.

HELL YEAH give up the draft pick. WHATEVER. Who would we get in the draft that is better than Starbury???

Kill that noise. We came off better than we have in a LONG TIME.

What's gonna blow up in Zeke's face? Success? I am not even trying to hear that ignorant madness.

This is a GREAT DAY for the Knicks!!! A NY Point Guard on a NY TEAM.
CASE CLOSED.

Success is a pearl neckace. IT blew up.

Look, Marbury is a great player and an all-star, but you have to admit the Suns absolutly ****ted on us in this trade.

Consider, by getting Mcdyess/Ward, they clear off about 12-13 mil in caps space (the net of taking on Eisley). So they will lure in an FA no problem.

They also picked up two no.1's, one of which could easily be in the lottery. They got the best PG in Europe, and a player in Lampe who has Dirk-like upside. Sure, all could bust, but the boom factor is also very hight. Add in the fact that they still have Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire, Joe Johnson, Zarko Cabarkapa etc. This team could be absolutley sick in a couple of years, or maybe sooner. We are looking at the new Mavericks, and yet another strong team out west.

Sure we got an all star player in them, but they were going no where with him, and now all of a sudden things are looking very bright. And if we don't make the playoffs with Marbury, things are looking bleaker here.

I will give Thomas that this was creative, and he did land a big ticket player. But he's on the lopsided, bad end of this one. I'm sorry. He shouldn't have had to give so much, and should've gotten more back. Couldn't we have at least taken Cabarkapa from them? I'm sorry, I'm not a fan of this deal.

Hmm....

All that didn't believe in Isaiah Thomas looks like a DAMNED IDIOT now! Yeah baby! NBA EXEC OF THE YEAR. Anyone who was Pro-Laydown, can SUCK ON THIS!!! LMAO LOLLOOLOLOLOL

Funny, it seems one can't like Lampe, Milos, or draft picks without being a Layden fan?

NBA exec of the year? It looks like a very "Laydenesque" move to me.

They are unloading nearly $150 million in obligations. Including the players they're getting back, they'll save about $100 million in salary.

In trading Marbury, the Suns are getting rid of contractual obligations that total nearly $105 million over six seasons, counting the current one. The club signed Marbury to a four-year extension just before the season started.

The Suns also are getting rid of Hardaway's contract, one which they have been trying to dump for years. That contract will cost them $43.9 million over the next three seasons, counting this one.

Looks like Kobe going to the land of the rising sun.

WE are in Cap hell. Forget free agents, forget that all the great players in the league came from the draft, and we gave our next two picks.

Laydog usually made one half of a trade, but never completed the others.

I do hope in time this one makes sense when all the moves are completed, but from a growth standpoint, and financially.

Dolan did it again!

Im on the books for that one.

I wonder what Layden is feeling right now. He's problably very suicidal lol All the work he put in has been destroyed thank god lol

LayDown is so damn slow, he's prolly just getting the news that he's been fired. The friggin' retard will realize that Marbury was traded here sometime around Valentine's day. What an ass.

Thank GOD for Messiah Thomas!

Im not flaming Hardcore, we made our peace long ago and he is a good dude who was very excited at the time.

Hardcore can Marbury elevate his teamates games on the knicks to a championship?

With the right help, yes, he can. If he has the right coaching, too.
He's the best PG we've had since Mark Jackson. Go ahead and embarass yourself by trying to argue with me on that.

Cook's POV: At that point there was reason to believe, because in Marbury's beginning stint w/ the Knicks he averaged 19.8 ppg and 9.3 apg. If he was still playing like that we would be a much better team. But after that first season being a NY, being called the savior, being a NY native, and Allan Houston unable to play he tried to become the New York version of Kobe Bryant, which was something we did not need. I believe if Allan Houston was never injured or came back and played at the same level he did before his injury, Marbury would not beas hated as he is now. I also think it is much harder playing for a team in your hometown than it is anywhere else. You try to do so much to impress family and friends instead of playing the same ball that made you the player you were. That's why I think Lebron output is going to shoot throught the roof when he leaves the Cavs (which I am almost positive he will). Knicks over Cavs tonite too.

After browsing through UK history I can honestly say that Uk.com was boring as **** before that Marbury trade.
