I like Bender a lot, but I don't think he can handle a full time role right now. Someone mentioned an OK4 signing or trade in another thread. I think OK4 would definitely compliment No D Lee.

I agree. I think if Walsh keeps Benders minutes to below 25 and lets him rest on some back-to-back nights, he should be able to make it through the season, given the continual training that he does. Anything more would be pushing it. Walsh really pulled one out of the hat with this signing. We needed another 7 footer that MDA actually is willing to play, as Curry and Darko appear worthless in this system. Bender has skills to fit in the system and he is a legit 7 feet and has added bulk over the years. Great pickup by Walsh. I think Bender, if he can stay healthy and continue to improve, will add 3-4 games to our win total.

Trust the Process

I like Benders game a lot, and i think as he gains more confidence and isn't afraid to be more physical because of his knees, he will be a great rotation player off the bench. I see him being a perfect fit for this offense and an ideal D'Antoni big who can hopefully play 70-75 games per year for about 20 mins per game. Also, as long as he can stay healthy, a player like him can play well beyond his prime because of the lack of miles on them, an example of this is grant hill. We could have a very good role player on our hands for many years. You can't teach the abilities that he has, being a lanky 7-footer who can shoot and possibly play spot minutes at the 2 thru 5 positions.

Bender has looked great, I just hope that D'Antoni doesn't get tempted to play him more because he wouldn't hold up...

What a terrific idea. It's hard to believe the crap these guys have to sit on. Kills the back.

Hey Brian, please tell management about this idea and get Jimmy D to pony up a few thou and get it done. Small investment with high reward (i.e., better posture, less fatigue, fewer back-related traumas, and grateful players.) What's not to love about this idea? I bought myself one of the HM chairs last year for $600 (barely used) and it has hugely helped me. I work at a laptop all day, so it's important for my back.

take another looksie, when some of the bigger guys go to sit they do have big old pads for them. Saw JJ use them the other night and perhaps someone else. But you are right, don't know why the NBA doesn't call for all the stadiums to lower the area where the players sit and allow them to bring in bigger chairs. Nate will needs something special. Special Nate.

Given that Bender can't handle major minutes..

Which of these 7 footers should be getting more PT:

Curry
Hill
Milicic

???

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Can't really rely on Bender to be durable.

Im happy for the guy and for walsh. Lets hope it lasts and his legs can withstand the remainder of the season.

I like reading thatt maybe its more importnat that Hill get his legs in NBA shape for big man. Oden was not ready.

Right now, the 8 man rotation is working. I really can't see which big they can replace.

8 man rotation (bigs only)
No D Lee
Fishlips
Gallo
Al Harrington
The Mayor
Bender

Guards are Dudu, TD (Hughes replaces TD when he is healthy)

I would really love for Hill to get some burn but I think Fishlips is being showcased, so until the trading deadline, Hill be stuck in the bench.

he's looked great shooting the 3 but otherwise i think he looks very rusty to be honest... to be expected after not playing for 4 years & his conditioning seems better than i would have expected, but he looks uncomfortable handling the ball & has been getting his shots stuffed at the rim... at least he's going up strong, i'll give him credit for that... he's been able to stand up to contact & get back up which is encouraging... his past injury history is always worrisome when u see him take a fall, but so far so good... it was a good signing... now if only we could get Jordan Hill worked back into the rotation after the deadline, i'll be even happier.

Bender's bball IQ is evident when he plays. His jumper is a very pleasant surprise. He drives well to the basket. I can see why Donnie traded for him in Indiana.

Bender is solid but Jordan Hill's development has to be an important part of the planning process for us. We passed up on Ty Lawson, Brandon Jennings, etc. among others, and to take a guy with the #8 pick overall, he needs to pan out.

Especially when we don't have one coming this year.

agree 100% Jordan Hill's development should be taking precedence right now but we're all haters if we question MDA's methods.

Dude, Hill will develop. It's a long season and he's just a rookie. Bender is a hobbled hall-of-fame talent that is ready to come in and contribute EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED, RIGHT NOW!! He is tall and he can drain the trey. Hill will get his time, but right now WE GOTTA SALVAGE the season!!

I agree but I think the plan is to raise Fishlips trade value. They were trying it with Curry but gave up because they saw that it was only hurting his value more . I hope that JJSkinny gets traded soon. I think he might be heading to Washington or Houston.
