how the hell did this discussion become a "would u rather have AI or Jennings" debate? i was saying AI's a huge upgrade over Chris Duhon & worth bringing in on a 1 year rental, & ur disagreeing w/me because u'r still sore about the fact that Jennings isn't wearing a Knicks' uniform... get over it & stop wasting ur time stressing over things that u can't change & start looking at the options that are available for the Knicks to pursue right now... there are no legitimate drawbacks to bringing AI in this year... even if he creates a ruckus & acts a fool, the Knicks can simply waive his ass & it's no big loss... u guys trying to bring up the Marbury comparisons are severely reaching... Marbury was no longer a productive player, he had spent the past 5 years making a fool of himself & alienating Knicks fans & brass, & none of his teammates even respected him anymore... of course it was time for him to go... AI can still play at a high level, he's got a chance to start on a fresh slate in NY & he's still a well respected player around the league... just tell me u don't like AI & that's a more valid argument over trying to create these imaginary reasons why the Knicks shouldn't sign him.

I just mentioned that Iverson doesn't bring what the Knicks really need, Point Guard Leadership (As opposed to shooting guard chuckerism) unlike what we should have had.

And I'll bitch about that for years to come so I'm sorry if that bothers you.

Like DJ said this is about selling tickets and T-Shirts, a move to satisfy fans who cannot stomach "The Plan" that they claim they are on board with.

Hey, I'm just wondering, maybe you can answer this for me: If having Iverson here is such a no-brainer, why didn't the Knicks sign Iverson over the summer again? Duhon sucked for his entire career. You're telling me they just found that out? Classic Knicks management.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Wait, what does Jennings have to do with this? Oh, you'd rather have him on the team then AI? Really? REALLY? wow, I mean, thats a given but totally irrelevant to this whole conversation. Iverson plays his heart out every time. Even if 10% of that carries on to our team its a Huge asset for us. Not to mention him being a legit scoring threat. Not to mention that he might be top 5 in league scoring wise if he comes here. Not to mention that we'll win more. Yes, TD will play less- but he will learn from AI a few neat things i bet. What if coming here rejuvenates him ? Can our guys really learn more negative stuff from him than positive? I doubt it.

Actually it is completely relevant to bring up Jennings. The Knicks are signing a guy to fill the position they should have had the thought to address previously. It shows that the Knicks are nearly incapable of proactive improvement, just re-active desperate moves.

Now to address whether Iverson plays his heart out all the time...Really REALLY? Wow, I guess you did not get the news that he just quit on 2 teams in 6 months?

And the Knicks will win more? What, 23 games instead of 20? Break out the champagne and confetti! Who cares if Iverson leads the league in scoring on a terrible team?

And yes, Iverson is really well known for taking young players under his wing! Riiiiight...Jeez, where do you guys get this stuff from?

I guess the guys can learn something from Iverson: Quitting is for Winners! Don't Listen to your coach! Shoot a lot and don't look for your teammates!

It just goes to show that Knicks management and fans cannot back their words with action.

why didn't they sign him over the summer? i have no idea, i was all in favor of the idea... Donnie & MDA obviously had concerns about AI being a distraction... speaking for myself i had no illusions about this team contending this year, i knew it was a throw away year & i've made that point many times on this forum ever since last season... i've said all along the main goals for this year should be to figure out a way to dump Curry or Fishlips' contracts & to give our young guys a chance to grow in this system... IMO brining AI in here will help to pump up Curry's value because i think he'd excel in the P&R, much more than Duhon will be able to bring in the same role... i think having AI here will open up many easier looks & scoring opportunities for other guys on this team... obviously this move is about giving fans something to root for & a marquee player to watch when the come to Knicks games... i never said it wasn't... this year is a throw away like i said, why not throw the fans a bone? that doesn't mean we're not on board w/"The Plan"... the plan is for cap flexibility in 2010... signing AI on a 1 year rental at minimum dollars fits perfectly into that plan.

Alright, if its so relevant lets bring up all the other great players we missed out in the last 10 drafts? We can talk about how its stupid to try to bring in a former all-star (what 10 times?)to replace one of the worst starters in the whole league? And you say AI don't play with heart? Sry, i disagree. He is known as one of the most dynamic players of our decade and you are saying our young guys can't learn anything good from him? Heh so what exactly are we risking? Lemme guess- we bring in AI and our team starts falling asleep on the court, Gallo will be ignored for the most part on offense, we'll have noone to penetrate and dish, and last but not least out PG will only want to play P+R with Lee or take halfcourt shots or dribble into the paint just to keep his dribble and dribble and then dribble out of the paint and reset the offense. Yeah i think i will definately miss all of those things if AI gets here.

I'm really trying not to drink the Kool-Aid because I thought I was going to have at least 82 games where I didn't have to worry about starphucking and just be able to really evaluate what talent we have or don't have. But now 11 games in we are already looking for a savior. I thought we'd be free of this until the summer.

Again, if you are an A.I. superfan I see why you'd be hyped, but I really question if New York truly has the stomach for rebuilding. 11 games, people. We finally got our last big project in Curry back on the floor. Now A.I.? I'm not going to use the character argument like others have, or even the media circus argument anymore. I just would have liked us to stay in our lane for a minute and figure out a way to fight through our problems.

Also, I don't see a lot of people truly considering what could go wrong with derailing the organization's attention on the future, in lieu of appeasing the fanbase today. I know I'm not converting anyone to my point of view. I just hope if it happens it is as "win-win" and "low risk" as everyone says.
