great thread guys... I really enjoyed. Was watching GMen yesterday and then had company so I missed the game.
Glad Douglas had a good start. I really had high hopes for him getting in the rotation and giving us some desperatly needed D on the perimeter.
Terrence Williams was my first choice at pick 7
The Lee bashing is nothing short of entertaining. We start Hughes who might play his way out of the rotation and Duhon who is a great backup along with Jared Jefferies and Al "I dont get paid to pass" Harrington and Lee gives you 20/9, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block in 25 minutes shooting 60% you guys say he was average and just feeding off his teammates. Good stuff.
Not sure we are bashing Lee-- I would just say we aren't nut-hugging him. David does the right stuff on offense. On the boards, moving without the ball, getting superior position, rolling off the pick-- he does a great job at all of that. He supposed to do that. The fact that other Knicks stink at those things does not make Lee exceptional.
While I would agree that Lee is the best player on the team, his strengths would not be as extraordinary on a better team. i.e. he wouldn't have so many rebounds if the Knicks didn't take so many bad shots or other players boxed out. He fills a stat sheet and doesn't get enough credit for the blue collar work. He deserves more credit than Al Shootington for playing better team basketball. He had a good game.
By contrast, Will had a great game and did it at both ends. We all want to see Will attack the basket more and there was a real sense of frustration that the Knicks were standing around the 3 pt line chucking.
Harrington's stats were more empty in my opinion cause although he is probably the most talented Knick, he really didn't involve anyone else.
I think the key to take from this game is to keep an eye on the ball movement between Nate and Chandler and between Gallo and Lee. Those two pairs are clearly playing well off each other.
Douglas will be a good player. I didn't like any jumpshot he took, but he was damned good for a rookie.
