To be fair, some people on this forum can make the most sanest people go nuts.

Yes, but nobody holds that against you.

Now don't take this to heart just humor. It's Sat. and Papabear is going to a cookout. The Bloger before me you are right about the New York times blog. I'm learning that different blogs bring in different types of fans.
Talkin about anger!!! I've been a Knicks fan since 1960 when I was just a Kid. Celebrated the 2 championships we got with Reed and Fraizer. The second one with Earl the Pearl. We've had an over thirty year drought. Disapointments one after another. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Marbs. He said that this was his childhood dream was to play for the Knicks. He said if he only scored 6 points a game and they won he would be happy. He said he scored 20 points and more all of his NBA career and it got him nothing. He said his family is here in New York His teachers are here in New York and he wants to win in the worse way and I beleived him. He admitted that he made mistakes and him being proud got him in trouble but after being around Zeke and listening to Zekes stories and how he went the extra mile to win thats what he wants to do. Let's cut the man some slack just one more season and if it don't pan out then I'll agree with you that Marbs will have to go. Peace!!

It takes a while to understand the UK culture. I know it seems like were all just a bunch of "haters", but if you read the posts and look at the different styles you'll see there's really a broad spectrum. There are definitely a lot of frustrated and alienated fans though.

One thing that bothers me is when people who haven't really taken the time to learn about all the different posters paint us with a broad brush and say we're just a bunch of haters. I don't think that's true.

BTW, I think on UK, the definitions are:

Hater - Still considers him or herself a fan, but doesn't like the direction the team is going in. Believes criticizing/joking about the team is okay
Homer/Lover - Considers him or herself a fan, believes in supporting the team no matter what, is generally offended by criticism and jokes about the team.

Another way to look at it:

Haters - Don't like Isiah and Marbury
Lovers - Do like Isiah and Marbury

(You guys can let me know if I've got this wrong.)

Personally I never cared for this binary view of UK fans, but that seems to be the way or discussions / arguments break down, so I accept it.

I guess I fall into the hater camp, but I'm not on the far right wing of the hater camp.

Welcome to UK and enjoy. Try not to take things said here to seriously or personally. People use this forum to vent and blow off steam.

All wrong! Nah, not a bad assemsement although, most haters seem to hate everything Isiah/Marb and are so fed up that they hardly ever acknowledge anything good that two has/had done within this organizatoin.

I think that's a pretty accurate assessment by the way.

haters are cynical, tired of hearing the talk be talked without seeing the walk be walked. many don't respect the mindset of the current brain-trust of the franchise and it's trickle down effect. feel a certain integrity has been lacking in too many facets of the organization.

lovers live on potential, possibility and layden's legacy. they have an old fashioned Black&White newsreel quality to them, like the pro war movies of the 1940's. patriotism and "support the troops" is at the forefront of all analysis. matters of mindsets, emotional maturity, leadership, etc, are considered unseemly and not fit for public discussion. to them hater's represent a modern day version of Chinese/Soviet communism, out to destabilize our system, ending truth, liberty, justice and the American way in the process.

i think we all care deeply about the franchise, we just disagree on where the franchise stands and the wisdom of how they go about their business.

"On paper, they're a really good team with guys who can really play, but they still have to get on the court and do it," Marbury said. "Chemistry is everything. We look good on paper, too, and we have a year under our belts.

"I'm not thinking about Boston," Marbury added. "I'm only thinking about the New York Knicks. Our new nickname is nice and nasty. That's how we're coming."

hehehe... what a card.
