Man Speak With Forked Tongue?

>>Balkman is going to be a nice player with little maintence which is something that the NBA needs more of, guys that go about there business and play to there strengths and don't complain, we are lucky to have him with Lee and Fyre, guys that will just play.......True Knicks

Isiah is a shortsighted smooth talker that doesn't know how to build a winner,

So. let me get this straight - Balkman, Paul Miller, Kenny Adekele, Malik Rose, Lee, Jackie Butler, Qyntel, Collins and Frye are cool.

Isiah, Steph, Jalen, Nate, Jerome, Eddy Curry, Mo Taylor, Stevie and Jamal are not cool.

Honestly, name me a fan of another team in any sport where they hate half the team and the coach and GM.

Objectively, you really have to ask why they are fans of the team at all.

Especially when these same guys LOVE everything about the bulls and nets.

I'd say you were more of a local beat writer that is forced to cover the local team.

but to hate half the roster (all the starters) and management just means you can't see what they are doing with the team...I'm cool with that, I see it, and it's clear to me that after 2.5 years on the job, isiah has put us a year away from contending.

I'm just saying I've never seen someone hate half the team before...even when the cowboys and yankees sucked in the 80's I never hated half the team, but that was before the internet.

I don't understand why you get your panties in such a bunch because of that statement...it seems the so called "haters" have this thing of not only hating the knicks, but hating on other posters.

I posted a link to islesfat and maybe you guys should really check it out...if the plan is to stop me from posting so there is more time for negativity, that's one thing, but to jump right to the personal attack is kind of weak and I guess, young.

If you are a kid, than it makes sense, that's what kids do, but adults try to stick to the topic and their opinion on the topic, not use terms like jackass and snit.

make sense? or you gonna wait for islesfat to respond?

fyi...

Try not to be such a d!ck.

nyk4ever - put down the rvhoss HaterAde and step away from the vehicle

The name calling is TOTALLY uncalled for.

Do you have something of value you would like to add to the discussion?

I already have in this thread. Do you have anything to add other than calling me out instead of calling people out as well? I guess you agree with him and feel we're not Knick fans becuase we don't agree with you and your assessment of the team. Thats fine, but I am tired of hearing this fool constantly call people Anti-Knick fans becuase they disagree with his view of the team.

anger anger anger...come on nyk4temprary, feel the love...it's all just healthy debate.

Just stick to the topics and stop posting like islesfat and you'll be all good.

besides, over the last few weeks I've gotten a different sense from you, you're just a long time frustrated fan.

and when you are frustrated you...now, don't get mad at me for this...lash out.

and right now you are lashing out at half the roster, management, the owner and the few positive knick fans.

No worries. we're all fans here.

just some more than others.

There is absolutely no need to feel your honor so damaged that you cannnot craft a more mature response than you diss another's mental capacity. we should all learn from another opinion, sit back and settle down,, and take a deep breath to consider another point of vies...

it would make for a much better environment.

Meanwhile, back at The Garden...

“The first time we played, it was like, as a kid, I always wanted to play in Madison Square Garden. (Now) I’m here, I’ve got all these butterflies. The second time we played, everything was gone. There was no fear. I went out there and busted my head wide open to get it done.”

Shouldn't you be telling this to RV as well? but instead you only address me. I'm the one who is disagreeing with you guys in this thread, therefor, you should be taking in my point of view, the same I fully take in all of your point of views but when someone tells me I'm not a Knick fan because I don't blind support Isiah Thomas and Stephon Marbury it's extremely childish.

Either way, don't respond. This isn't on topic, I just felt I had to say something because I'm sick of it happening.

Balkman is King!

nyk4ever - c'mon dude, it's not personal

Its strictly business

How can one NOT feel good about Balkman when he runs down how he feels?....

“But my game on the court will show them who I am. I’m not going out there to prove to people that I can really play basketball; I just want to go out there and play my game, and show them that it was a great pick.”

The Fix Is in

nyk4ever - okay enough fooling around... check THIS out....

Let's say, just for discussion purposes, that (1) Renaldo and (2) Collins are better than NBDL material and make the roster of 15 in November.

let's say that (3) Paul Miller turns out to be as dependable an outside shooter as Michael Doleac and becomes a favorite in the same pick and pop run for Kurt Thomas...

Let's get REALLY crazy and think that (4) Kenny Adekele is, minimally, the second coming of Anthony Mason's second cousin and gets exhibition PT in October and is good enough to AT LEAST do what Malik Rose did last season... (which was exactly...?)

provided that 5. Frye (23), 6. Lee (23), 7. Nate (22), 8. Curry (23) and 9. Crawford (25) stick around...

would you be willing to suffer the growth curve of this tempting but tender, 9 man, core of YOOTS for another season?

Would you be willing add the yootful 10. Jackie Butler (21) to the mix and take your chances?

That makes ten.

Could you learn to LIKE these TEN guys playing with passion wearing orange and blue?

What say ye?

Yes I would love that. I said many times last year that I didn't care if Brown got rid of every single player on the team aside from Lee, Frye and Crawford and signed players from the CBA to play for the Knicks becuase I know those guys would relish the chance they'd be getting and play as hard as possible every single play. I hate guys like Marbury and Francis who have been noted team-killers, have not toned their games down to better their teams, even after numerous attempts by present coaches and past coaches. I would love the team that you put together, as long as they played hard ON BOTH ENDS OF THE COURT. I'm tired of this crap where teams don't play defense, that's not basketball. Theres two ends to a basketball game, defense gets overlooked way to much today.

And for the 1000th time, I like Balkman as a player but I'm tired of our GM constantly throwing away resources. Look at a team like the Spurs or even the Nets, they HARDLY ever throw away resources and that is what makes these franchises successfull. I love Isiah as a drafter but I feel he is putrid in every other category. Unfortunately bargaining is part of drafting and Isiah has failed there too becuase if he maximized his resources, Balkman would have been taken later. Hell I wouldn't have cared if Isiah even traded down 1 slot to the Nets becuase their mouthes were watering to take Williams, and would have likely given up one of their picks to make sure they could draft him. It's called gamesmanship and our GM doesn't have any of it when it comes to bargaining. Thats my problem with this team.

>>Do you always resort to attempted hilarity(notice I said attempted) when you don't have anything else to offer in a conversation in terms you loosly call fact?

JoeC - lighten up dude. it's only basketball. Its entertainment.

And YES as a matter of fact I DO resort to "attempts" at humor. You want deadpan commentary you can always go read about the next tsunami, the desperate situatio in New Orleans, global warming, Iraq or the middle east conflict.

And yes, you're obsessed with talking about a draft number. I'd rather talk about a coheisve team and complimentary skill-sets. You wnat to talkabout "trading down". I prefer to talk defending and hustle.

You want to talk imaginary scenarios.

I want to talk the reality of a NYK frontcourt that already has some talent and size.

A draft number. JoeC - Did you say draft number?

How silly is that?

Lol...Earl, it's not just draft humber, it getting the most out of your picks and maximizing what they give you-look at some of the top teams-SA(the seem to get productive players every year. PHX-They don't want to draft a player, they sell the pick and get cash and a spot to go out get a vet that they know will contribute. Miami doesn't play rookies, but they draft (usually) solid guys. And if Wright keeps developing they will have a sweet back court with him and Wade. Detroit always manages to pick solid role players out of the draft(excluding Darko of course). You never hear of teams like this reaching.

And it's not just in basketball-Look at the model for any pro sport-the New England Patriots in football(I know it's a little different but bear with me). They never waste a pick or reach for guys. They make the draft work for them by maximizing their return. The Steelers operate the same way-There was an article in USA Today about 3 months ago where it said like The Steelers had 17 or 18 players starting for them in the Super Bowl.

My point is, it's my belief that you should maximize your draft return. On the flip side, is the reach for the player you want no matter what pick it is belief. The only time I think that is valid if you are on the verge of doing something special and you need that player.

My argument has nothing to do with Balkman the player. I like him. My argument has to do with Balkman the pick.

Don't Get Me Started With The Mixed Analogies

JoeC - now, go back two decades, or so, and check the Steelers records BEFORE they won The Super Bowl. Check the number of years they struggled and stayed with their General Manager AND Head Coach while they languished at the bottom and finally turned it around with extreme patience and loyalty to Bill Cowher.

Are you teling me that NY fans and media would grant the identical brand of patience to GM Isiah Thomas, or Scott Layden... or whoever.... after ... say... the 1999 run to The Finals?

Are you teling me that Cablevision ownership would stay the course with ONE front office leadership brand for so long?

When was the last time you witnessed Steeler fans booing each and every first round college draft pick in front of a live television audience?

Think of booing Hines Ward becausr he was picked TOO HIGH.

Get real.

Au contraire, my debating buddy, it AIN'T that kind of party.

And this ain't football.

Fine forget the football, since you don't want me to "get you started"......The best teams in the NBA always maximize their draft picks. That is my argument. Disagree if you want, but it is the truth. I am arguing that Balkman at 20 is not maximizing their pick.
