Randle: Its a good deal for him and Wolves. Let's not forget as much as we loved Jules and the best version of DDV engrained in our minds, he could not go two playoff series as he kept breaking.

As much as we get on KAT, we went to conf. finals, he was 2nd in NBA in rebounding and 12th in scoring at 24pts per. DDV played 62 games avg 25min and had a nice 3pt shooting year. Less attempts but good %.

Kat played 72 games. OG avg 18pts vs. Jules 18.7. Randle defense vs. OG? If your not in love with OG's defense your not paying attention.

Interesting that there is no waiting period on Julius extension - he can be traded immediately without any 6-month holding window.

Brings flexability and we B better than the Lakers.

If he wanted to come for the TMLE (~$5.5M) yes we could.

Wonder how bad his reputation is with NBA front offices -- if he is basically a don't touch at all player.

I've always loved the size, skill but hard to argue that teams seem to fall out of lover QUICKLY with this guy.

Would he be happy watching ALL of our guys tossing shots up while he has to cover for Kat/Jalen -- not sure this is the guy but I guess I'd be excited if we could get him cheap.

Smoke?

So on TV this AM they are saying this is first time in 20 year career that Lebron opted in without an extension.

He has though almost always threatened to leave every summer in order to put pressure on his team to improve.

I do wonder if Lakers didn't offer him an extension (or at least one he liked) and now he is pissed and trying to get out.

One angle that is interesting. If he wanted out - why not just opt out and become a F.A.?

Not sure on this but if he were a F.A. many teams would be capped out and unable to offer him big $ so maybe in this case he is getting his +$50M and will force LA to move him. And if he were a F.A. some teams may be restricted from pursuing a sign/trade.

Also because it's off season Lebron despite being a $50M player (+$14M) - he can still go to ANY team - no restrictions on teams that otherwise can't pursue guys making over the $14.1M MLE.

No idea at all what's going on but would assume Lebron stays in LA.

Someone who I think could be a good value signing is Day'Ron Sharpe. Thibs would have loved him because he crashes boards.

Have always hoped we could grab Sharpe -- seems to gobble up rebounds but not sure on other parts of his overall game.

Outside of Kat we really suck at rebounding. Mitch while a demon on offensive glass is pretty mediocre on defensive glass.

Saw blip that Hawks favorites to land NAW from Minny --- Hawks would add another wing defender and Knicks will need 2 or 3 Jalen Brunson's to dribble ball past 1/2 court vs ATL.

I think we're going to have a lot of problems signing anyone until we get a coach.

They are building a really interesting defensive team. It used to be Trae and bunch of 3 pt shooters. Now its possibly Trae and a bunch of wing defenders. They are actually looking really competitive.

Mitch is constantly having to help on defense and contesting the shot - going to pull him out of position for the board. Fair bit of that is by design, especially when you got someone like Josh who's going to come in at 30mph to crash the glass. But yeah, too many times he steps over to help, contests the shot, and no one covers his guy for the offensive rebound. Valid area for concern.

The Lebron thing with Windy was a lot to do about it, but they had no angle given if he wanted out, he could have gotten it.
Is money his big thing? He got a billion at least. So I doubt that. Lakers with a proper center are good. how good? Remains to be seen. Ayton buy out for how much? If 15mm, he can get that elsewhere. Might be worth a shot for a team to see if he has gotten his head right. His last year in PHX was not awful.

I just don't see how the Celtics mathematically can keep Horford and Kornet. And the calculus has to favor keeping Kornet since Horford has 1-2 seasons left at most. Kornet doesn't stretch the floor, but he's much better as a rim protector and on the boards. He has become so good defensively.

Of course given he has more years left, he's more likely to draw interest from a bunch of teams, potentially bringing his cost out of reach for Boston, and then Boston may go back to Horford. Really fascinating to see how this plays out. If Boston keeps one of them, I still think you have to respect their ability to win 45-50 games next year.

Ziare already back in BK - they get a cost savings vs his QO

Shams Charania: Free agent forward Ziaire Williams intends to sign a two-year, $12 million deal to return to the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell ESPN. Williams averaged 10 points and 4.3 rebounds in 63 games. Nets officials and Aaron Mintz of CAA negotiated the new contract. The second season is a team option, sources said.

Tre Mann non-tendered. Bit of a surprise. Kid has some offensive chops. Was hitting his 3 last year.

Nets just gave Sharpe the same deal. Basically saved some money off the QO and gave themselves a free option at another year with both guys. Good business for them.

FROM SHAMS:

Jordan Clarkson is finalizing a contract buyout with the Utah Jazz, sources tell ESPN. Clarkson will target contending teams for his new home -- with interest from multiple playoff teams already expected.

Russell Westbrook has emerged as a potential free agent target for the Knicks and Al Horford is a top target for Golden State, league sources tell @jakelfischer.bsky.social and me.
