These guys are never going to the get the chance to prove themselves with our organization.
Our organization is not run as intelligently as Boston's, and that's a bad sign for long-term success.

Even sounds like the Knicks. Great talk but no results in the end. There is some truth to this, you gotta admit. Originally, I thought A-Rod would have been much, much more relaxed and great with the Mets. And I was only talking about contract wise. A-Rods numbers may be close to matching the worth, and clutch hitting isn't one of them. It's true and it's ugly, but ugly is the truth.

As a matter of fact, I think it is important to bring each and every player back to the new ballpark, to make it as full of a transition as possible. That way we bring the full aura over to that field, before we start shipping people out George Sr. style.

I know Rocco. He's a good guy and the injuries seriously messed with him, there is nothing he wanted more than to be on the field the past 5 years but he would always end up hurting himself. I think everyone is hopeful that they've figured out what is/was wrong him and as of now it seems like things are cleared things up for him, he seemed to do just fine this year when he was eventually called back up, but we'll see. As a prospect in RI he was often compared to Joe DiMaggio based on style of play, swing, talent, everything, but he really does have that kind of talent.

I wouldn't mind letting him play CF for us, not at all. But I'm bias

according to what i've heard on Rocco TB declined his option in '09 because of a diagnosed condition he had w/his metabolism that caused him to be abnormally fatigued after work outs & may have had something to do w/a weakening of his muscle tissue... he's definitely someone i'd consider bringing in to play CF but only if he came relatively cheap... the guy's got tremendous talent but his proneness to injury is a huge concern... Rob, do u have any info on that from knowing the guy?

i think he was compared to Joe D primarily because his name was Rocco Baldelli. other than that its an insult to dimaggio to say baldelli is even in the same ballpark.

that being said, i agree, he isn't a bad option for CF if he doesnt have some sort of degenerative disease.

Jake Peavy told reporters at the end of the season that he would not accept a trade to the AL.
When asked about his trade stance again Tuesday in the midst of reports that he's on the block Peavy responded that he didn't "want to get into any speculation." His preference is important given the full no-trade clause included in his recent contract extension. "Jake has a strong preference to stay in the National League," agent Barry Axelrod said. Alexrod added that "Jake would only approve a trade to a team with a solid chance of winning," specifically mentioning Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and St. Louis as cities that fit "his and his family's lifestyle."

You would be right, TMS.

He's doing alot of different things to counteract this condition and is working pretty well so far. We'll have to see how it plays out longterm, though.

I think we'd be able to sign him relatively cheap and he's your typcial high-risk/high-reward guy. Personally, I think he'd look great in CF, although he'd have to find a different jersey number.

Only NL? That's retarded. What is he scared of pitching to DHs? Or is he in love with hitting and would miss it too much? I could understand only accepting a trade to certain teams, especially winning teams, but ruling out a league makes no sense to me. Maybe if a pitcher was really old and didn't want to hit and run, I could understand ruling out trades to the NL but that's it.

looks like Andy's coming back for another season in '09 (or at least he wants to come back & the Yanks want to bring him back, so all that's left is to negotiate a contract)... i think it's a wise move... he struggled down the stretch but the team also failed to score him any runs in at least 3 games where he could have easily gotten a W during the season... a 15-17 win starter who'll give you 200+ innings is just what you want to round out your rotation if you can also pick up a stud ace to anchor it.

Andy is going to be fine. I know he had a rough second half, but I believe he can pitch to a 3.75era next year.

i think he's capable but i'd be fine w/a low 4's ERA out of him next year, as long as he can win at least 15 games while giving this team innings & save some wear & tear on the bullpen... he had a rough ending to the season but i think he can have a bounceback season much in the same way Moose did last year.

that team's got great balance - good speed at the front & back end of the lineup w/good power in the middle... defense is also improved w/Gardner in CF & Hudson at 2B... the starting rotation is pretty sick obviously & u got 2 lefties, which is nice... we already have a good bullpen so no need tinkering w/that.
