Both Kayil and Nickel looked like they could benefit from some nba coaching and competition. Both need to work on their footwork. I can see them both getting camp invites. I believe the big guy had a set back with a bad injury when he came into the league but he looks to be putting it together. At 27 this could be his last opportunity but he doesn’t look desperate, he looks ready. Robbins earned a camp invite from what I saw. I also like the Sellers kid. Worth an extended look. Bring him to camp and let him compete.

Nickel and Kayil will get more than camp invites for cap reasons IMO .At least one of them will be on the payroll. I will assume Nickel will get a deal and Kayil could either take a two way or be a stash player for at least another year. There's a possibility we can trade 2 of Kolek/Deuce/Dadiet for a third center. That would open a spot for both players on rookie mini deals to give us more room under the cap I believe. Leon will have some decisions to make to set up the opening day roster. Aller will work his magic.

Robbins looked good out there today. He may get the invite and see if he can earn a spot. We don't have much room to work with and we are really only missing a third center so, anything can happen. I just think they will keep at least one rookie on the books at the moment.

It may be early, but would a fair characterization of Robbins be Luke Kornet with range?

He looks comfortable shooting the 3.

He looked like a stretch 3 that can board, defend and pass.

He had flashes in the first two games, but was turnover prone and rushing a bit. Today everything fell into place and he played as complete a game as you could ask for, was relaxed and basically did everything competently.

Robbins could be a cheap solution to the 3rd string Center position if he can come to camp and show he's ready.

They did keep him on the floor most of Game 3 today despite being so-so the first two games. They are giving him an extended audition for a reason.

I liked what I saw from him today because he displayed good fundamental skills and a solid hoops IQ. He's not just a big body, he does understand the game.

Kayil Played great … he is a player we need to keep, he has that warrior in him. He outplayed Okorie and is more of a complete player as of now then okorie I was pleasantly surprised by his defense as well.

He’s only 20 but the tools are there to be a really good player for us in the future . I feel there is a trade brewing in the near future

I was gonna say maybe more iHart with a 3 than Kornet. Temu that is. I liked what I saw today for sure. Definitely worth a third center look.

So....with 13 contracts. We have 3 young guys fighting for two regular contracts. Nickel/Kayil/Robbins. Would we go that route and not trade for a center? Lot's of options and I trust the FO to do the right thing no matter how they solve the bench. It's great being the champs!!!

Amazing what actually having a PG on the floor can do. Why they tried to turn Diawara into a playmaker is beyond me.

SL is for trying out things. It makes complete sense to at least try him there to see how he handles the role as an offensive initiator. That's his projection kinda sorta. The SL is not for winning, it is for seeing what you got.

Where else would you do it?

Yeah I know you are right. Just felt like there should be some balance and the Knicks went too far in that direction. Diawara should not be in that role at the SL level full time. Dabbling with it is fine. I would have liked to see them use him in the post a little bit and run plays for him as a finisher as opposed to the initiator.

Two good rookies picked in the second round, one of which is ready for primetime, the other maybe just a season away from rotation minutes, is a helluva good draft for a team constrained by the 2nd cap and bringing back most of its squad.

Our scouting is pretty damn good

Is this a joke? He was the 4th pick in the draft

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

You’re right. Knicks probably wouldn’t have traded back from #24 and just taken him there, never know with the Lakers
