First understand that not everything league does is "Adam Silver". He is the CEO and the NBA has 30 owners.
If revenue is a measure of growth, they are growing.
Expansion? Im not necessarily for it but do get its been a while since they last did it and the international game over 30 years has produced many allstars and MVP's now as well as depth for the league. The talent pool is richer in my opinion now.
Not sure how the European expansion will work but its solidifying the future and perhaps a pathway for true global league in time.
with Supersonic Travel about to revive again soon it could close some of the issues preventing true global expansion.

Viewership modelas have changed since the heyday of network domination of the broadcasts. I don't have full expertiese on the matters but im not dumb enough to say just because I don't like something does not mean its not succeeding.

All sports over a full season has declining viewership via traditional methoeds and fans watch replays, highlights, and stream which is not fully accountable. Gambling revenue is a growing source as are international broadcasts. While it has to end at some point but until that happens franchise valuations keep rising.

And yes, all major sports has them booing their Commish when he grabs the microphone!

Yes nalod you should thank the Knicks and Lakers for being good and pumping up nba league ratings during the playoffs I agree.

https://www.nba.com/news/nba-playoff-viewership-highest-33-years

Some highlights:

*. Game 4 of the Detroit Pistons-Orlando Magic series on NBC and Peacock averaged 5.42 million viewers, making it the most-viewed first-round Game 4 on a weeknight ever.

**During the 2025-26 regular season, 170 million people in the U.S. watched NBA games across ABC/ESPN, Amazon Prime Video, NBC/Peacock and NBA TV. That was the most in 24 years and an 86% increase vs. last season.

* Additionally, more than 1.3 billion total hours of live NBA game coverage were consumed on linear and streaming platforms (excluding NBA League Pass) across all measured markets globally, up 93% year-over-year.

Top Games: Boston Celtics-Philadelphia 76ers peaked at 7 million viewers, while a first-round Game 4 for Detroit-Orlando on NBC drew 5.42 million viewers, a record.Driving Factors: The return of games to over-the-air broadcast (NBC) and the implementation of a new "Big Data + Panel" methodology by Nielsen (which increased reported viewership by 5% to 10%) have significantly boosted numbers.Global Impact: Over 1.3 billion total hours of live NBA game coverage were consumed globally early in the playoffs, up 93% year-over-year.

PhilC: Your lazy arrogance in these matters over the last year vs. all the things I said to the contrary are now played out. Last year I told you the measurements did not include online metrics. The evidence seems to point out the new broadcast deals are quite robost. Knicks have been in the playoffs now 4 of last 5 years so its not like they are new to the ratings. Same for Lakers.
Since they play on the west ooast those games often are as highly rated. Nice attempt to pivot into the Lakers conspiracy as your cover.

Reason for ratings has been the majority of series being so close. Reason for that is parity. Play in teams that surged together in held up. Also consider superstars Curry and Giannis are not factors as they were in the past.

If you must, NHL despite no stars or NY teams also having record viewership in early rounds. NFL playoffs showed a significant ratings boost as well. I can't speak to the longevity going forward of growth but as complicated as these streamig platforms can be for fans the early returns are showing positive. Fans boo the commish fo each league. The owners decide on TV rights.

Im not predictiong this trend will continue. A global econmomic slowdown might pull all entertainment spending down a bit.

Such a great commissioner he can’t figure out how to stop 1/3 of the league from openly tanking and divas like KD from taking off every other game when they are healthy. Master Class in leadership.

Nobody said things were perfect and its been an issue for many years. They are addressing it. It won't be perfect either.
Fact is the last CBA installed harder caps and the intended parity bought less dynasties and less boredom. more teams competing. You see it in the playoffs and fans are reacting positively. This also gave way to teams that stink a faster path to rebuild. We see teams moving from the bottom to respectablity in faster times. Detroit for example, and last year Indiana. Getting Siakim helped them and the resluting assets also helped Toronto in time.

This leaves the draft as the best way to secure a star player. Tanking has gone on decades. What is new is the thin line where your either in the hunt for the play in or if you out, secure a top pick. T

The structure of the NBA is the owners control everything. They participate via committee to make the bylaws and thus how things get done. Adam Silver is the CEO but not the owner. He is the face. He is no doubt a powerful force and its him that is the face of attemmpting to correct the tanking to maintain integrity.
Tanking is legal. Fans can revolt by not going to games or give up their season tickets. They don't. Nobody forces them to buy tickets. Supply and demand.

Tanking is legal. Lottery has many coincidneces and of course with lack of facts the feable tilt to the conspiracy for reasoning. NBA does hear the noise addressed it. Doubt it solves everyting but they do whats best for the league. Btw,, whats best for the league is not always best for the fans is it? Not until it hurts the bottom line. Its a for profit entertainment enterprise!

As for KD? The 65 game rule is not always fair but it helps the fan to some degree. If a player can't stay on the court or wants load days then it costs them accolades and limits the contract upside. Some players have legit injuries. KD is 38 years old. His contract is on the Rockets, not Silver. Personally I don't like stars taking time off and not playing for their fans.
Objectively is it any different than Mitch not playing back to backs to preserve his abilty to play? He has been healthy this year for a change.

Nice try to deflect.

Going to hope SAS makes short work of Minnesota now that TWolves advance. I'm still watching this long game of rock paper scissors where Knicks beat Spurs, Spurs beat Thunder, Thunder beat Knicks.

That’s a deflection? He’s the commissioner of a league which 1/3 of the teams openly are tanking and he is letting spoiled divas like Kevin Durant sit out whenever they want in the regular season. Not a great business model to have 8-10 teams every year losing on purpose and star players sitting on the sidelines healthy DNP’ing it. Can’t wait to drop thousands of dollars on tickets for that. Silver is not an effective leader on any level and he is letting the inmates run the asylum. He only has the job because of Stern hooking him up otherwise he would have never sniffed the commissioner job.

But yeah, deflection.

Minny wins while down 2 starters.

How is Cleveland not trouncing Toronto who is also missing 2 starters?

Just tuned in to the end of the 3rd quarter and watched several minutes of hardcore bricking. Both teams look spent ATM.

If ORL wins without Wagner it will be an accomplishment though, similar to Minny winning 4-2 vs. DEN without their stars

ORL just collapsed completely.

Got to favor the Pistons in a 7th game at home now.
