You can see that he is the main option on a lot of sets but he was out of position so they quickly reversed it and went away from him. Having Tobias just man handle KAT out of position is one the main culprits. I mean, at one point, KAT was moved out of bounds on the baseline. Refs are letting them do this to KAT. This is post 101. If your main post player is getting moved then you move the primary defender off him by setting a back screen and have KAT setup post on the other side and have the ball swing swing to get him a better matchup. This also puts Detroit in a chase situation which opens up cuts from opposite KAT. Jesus. It's not that complicated.

We must have watched 2 different games...on a few occasions, this may have happened, but in the 4th quarter, Kat was mostly hanging out behind the 3 point line, spacing for Brunson. The way to get Kat the ball or least involved in the action is to run pick and roll....I don't remember Kat and Brunson running more than 2-3 pick and rolls all 4th Q. When they did, it mainly for Brunson to get a switch and hunt the mismatch.

Hard to get the rebound when you are the primary on ball defender or the primary help defender.

The 1st Cleveland game was the 3rd game of the year...What's the excuse for us looking unsure, and tentative on offense last night, game 2 of the playoffs?

I was convinced that Thibs playing the starters together for so many minutes early in the year was to build chemistry come playoff time given they had no offseason together.

Unfortunately the chemistry keeps getting worse and worse and the starting unit keep performing worse statistically.

Its 5 good players, but not a good 5 man unit. It seems like we're almost always better when one player - honestly any player - is swapped out for a bench player to give things a different look.

For me, this is one of the underlying problems

From the Post. Thibs has to sort this out. We’ve seen them play the right way.

The Knicks’ problems didn’t start in their Game 2 loss to the Pistons, according to New York sports radio legend Mike Francesa.

The former WFAN great criticized coach Tom Thibodeau’s offensive scheme, which he believes is too centered on point guard Jalen Brunson and is holding them back.

“The stagnant four guys watching one guy play basketball is not an offense, and I don’t care what your name is,” Francesa said on his Bet Rivers podcast after Monday’s game. “And Brunson is not Michael Jordan.”

Brunson tallied one-third of the team’s 81 shots from the floor in Monday’s 100-94 home loss, scoring 37 points in 44 minutes on 12-of-27 shooting.

If this offense is just going to be Brunson bouncing the basketball for 15 seconds and then if he’s double-teamed he’ll flip a pass to somebody and hope they hit a long 3, or he’s going to find a way to get to the foul line. Dive against a guy and get free shots. Flop to the ground,” Francesa said.

“How many times in one night is Brunson on the ground? 32? It’s not appealing basketball. It’s all about Brunson. Why do you think the other teams think he flops? He’s on the ground the whole game. That’s half the Knicks’ offense.”

Francesa adds that it doesn’t matter if the Knicks advance past the Pistons because if “four guys are going to be standing around watching Brunson, you’re never going to beat a good team. You’re never going to beat the Celtics.”

They can get KAT more involved it doesn’t take Mike D’Antoni to figure it out.

Excellent point. The pistons got pretty much all the calls yesterday. For the people complaining Cam didn’t play he got 3 fouls in 4 minutes

Yeah, only 3 Knicks shot FT's last night. Zero for KAT. That's a problem.

The Schroeder flop was egregious but Thibs didnt want to use his 2nd challenge. He wound up never using it.

I do believe that we, as an organization, are not as aggressive as we should be using challenges. Other teams use them as momentum plays.

Didn't the Knicks set like 3 or 4 of their top 5 single games for assists this year? Like 4 games over 40 assista? How does a Knick team that set records for best passing Knicks team ever have a game like that?

A few things have been very clear all year.

We aren't going anywhere with ISO Brunson completely dominating possessions and overall shot attempts.
Josh Hart is an issue on both ends of the court --- he's a 25-30 minute player.

Can't believe Thibs gave Cam 4 minutes after game 1 performance YET continues to give Josh +40 and even Deuce +25 a night. At a minimum Cam can/will knock down a 3 and he gets to the rim (something Deuce has yet to figure out).

Thibs was BRUTAL tonight --- very simply MOVE THE F-ing BALL

Pathetic BUT we've done this casual guarding of the 3 point line all year --- and Shroeder of all people.

As soon as I see Jalen struggling to get open to receive the inbound on our end I know we will eventually shat the bed.

He struggles to receive inbound, takes 7 seconds to beat the 1/2 court count, gets across 1/2 court and stops (waves hands for a few seconds), Hart eventually trots over for screen near 1/2 court --- other 3 players stand watching. Then we get to watch ISO Brunson.

Pick up the pace, get Jalen off the ball some and use your bench (Cam) who typically plays when Kat goes off.

Saw stat the Brunson has passed the ball to Kat 12 times total in 2 games. On flip side has passed to Mikal I think 38 times and Josh 28 times.

He basically won the Philly series for us by hitting open 3s when their game plan was not to guard him. He hit massive 3s in the Cleveland series a few years back too. He's proven to step up and hit them in big moments, we should be trying to find him because they aren't going to guard him. That will blow up their whole game plan if he knocks a couple down.

100% I am not sure what is going on with his head. Shoot the ****ing ball. If you have no confidence with your 3 then move up under the 3pt line. I don't care if they call that the worse shot in basketball. You make enough of those the other team will start double teaming your primary players.

You realize the other team doesn't care and they want Josh to get the ball and they will live with his occasional lucky makes.

He shouldn't be on the court so often.

Been saying for years Thibs is not good enough. How many people on this team can we say are put in the best position to succeed?

I agree with you on Thibs BUT when does Jalen start to own the fact he is completely dominating the ball.

Becky was right we aren't winning with Jalen dominating shots so heavily -- the very 1st thing he should be thinking is let me get Kat/Mikal/OG going and I will close things out down the stretch.
