Yeah we gotta get Goga. Can we only use the MLE to sign him? 5mm+?

I am going to be honest. I am not as confident anymore. We lose a lot offensively and we have to rely on Mitch to stay healthy.

Almost $30m per year? No chance of beating this.
To put this in perspective, this, at least briefly, makes iHart the 8th highest paid center in the NBA behind Jokic, Embiid, Gobert, A Davis, Ayton, Adebayo and Towns.
And ahead of Capela, Myles Turner, Jarrett Allen.

Sometimes things are just way too stacked up against you. We should have tried to fill the backup PF/C position through the draft.

So that they could help out 3-4 years down the line? Realistically, wouldn't have mattered.

Dude, really?

It’s not like the Knicks won’t sign anyone else or we lost our top player. IHart was really good, yes, but we can find another center who will do some of what he did and maybe at a better price.

Did I want him back? Yeah, but mostly because the team was such a feel good one that I wanted everyone back and he had big plays in the playoffs. But can we get another center to help? Definitely, so he wasn’t indispensable.

Just thank him for all he did in NY and move on.

Now we get to see if this FO can follow up with another expert move. This wasn't a surprise, I'm interested to see what their plan B was at center and if it can be executed.

Never said he was a top player. He was a player that excelled in the areas that made us better. With a combination of skils that is unique in centers. There are no centers left that will be able to be good on defense, rebounding while being a good secondary playmaker at the top of the key when teams double Brunson.

his playmaking was overstated and would be even less on this team with Mikal here and Randle back.

Mikal is not a playmaker and who is to say Randle won't get hurt again? We can agree to disagree.

I am of the opposite opinion. For me, iHart has a similar impact on this Knicks team as having a spacing center on others. It matched well with the cutting spacing downhill team.

But can we still get a center in the open market? Do we have $5m to play with for that? Is this the taxpayer mid-level exception?

I am a bit confused about how the cap hold on our first rounder affects our ability to sign more players. If we absolutely have to shed it somehow by stashing Pacome in Europe, then it is one thing. But if it is going to count against our cap anyway, I don't see why we could not use it on a big man that we actually need today than on some non-obvious prospect.

Yes I think iHart's playmaking is extremely underrated and a massive loss. The Brunson/iHart two man lineup was crucial. Brunson did his best work with iHart on the floor and healthy and was the key to beating doubles. iHart was exceptional at executing what he was told to do by the coaches - was positioned in the right place and instinctually made the right pass or read off the pick and roll most of the time. Even if he wasn't uber talented as a scorer, he he was an engine.

Will never forget the offensive rebound,, pass and later block in Game 2 of the Philly series. DiVo made the shot, but in many ways iHart made the biggest plays in that sequence and that's what he brought to the table for the Knicks in 2 yrs. Smart player, great hustle, great motor.

Huge loss.

iHart was huge for us.

If we’re counting on Mitch and Sims we’re screwed.

Impress us Leon.

This changes our matchup with the 76ers. If Mitch gets injured we have literally no one to even slow down Joel. OG is good in spot on him but asking him to guard Joel for a full game is too much.
