I started reading and they are thinking we could sign quick to an overpay contract with out MLE to either drive up the price for them or tofill out our backup PG. It is something I never thought of but I doubt we do it. Quick was not really happy playing in a backup role. So sooner or later he will start to cause trouble for us.
Are we thinking he is only getting the MLE?
Anyone have any idea what the Mle would be this offseason? I am not even going to pretend I have any idea. If it is less than 30 a year no chance he would sign it.
It’s going to be around $13 mil for the first season of the contract to go on for 4 years total with 5% salary increases. The crazy new nba tv contract may change that though
Won't be any big changes with the new contract because the players have already agreed to limit the year on year increase to 10%. This is because during the last jump a lot of guys who hit free agency that year, like Mozgov, signed huge deals while the guys who hit the year before or later got screwed.
The only guys it makes a big difference for are max guys who get paid a percentage of the cap rather than a guaranteed amount. Those guys will see 10% raises going forward.
I'm not sure what happens with the extra money. I imagine it's held in escrow. It's possible that between organic growth and the new contracts, there's a 10% increase every year going forward.
