Either that or breakdown the defense. If he can get one of those things down he is golden.

I think Brunson is going to make all of our guards better. I see him as being a player/coach/mentor to the young guys. What a great signing.

I’m still watching TNT. They couldn’t find anything negative to say about us. It’s a great day when we can shut all the critics up

You talkin bout Rick or Jalen?

Jalen. All of our guys need to improve their handles.

I figure Rick taught Jalen. So both are good signings.

I learned two things tonight 1) We are clearly winning the Championship and 2) that Detroit pick isn’t going to vest this year.

First rotation by the starters was a little clunky but after Derrick Rose came in it was smooth sailing.

JB is a game changer on offense,he's going to be wowing us for a long time with all that Niftiness in the paint. His height will be an issue on defense all season but the rest of the team is solid enough that it won't be unworkable. Brunson is willing to sacrifice his body to take charges which are some of the best plays in the game.

How about Mitchell Robinson's breakaway dunk to start the game!? You could see his teammates were looking for him on offense, but it seems like Robinson will forever struggle to be a roll threat like Capela or peak DeAndre Jordan. Hart has a lot more flash to his game (though passing up dunks can get you exiled from Philly). Still, Robinson's D is tough to quantify. The eye test says that all good things the Knicks do this season will start with Robinson's ability to shut down the paint and control rebounds.

RJ and Randle played with a bona fide point guard and their efficiency shot up- hmm.

Deuce got 6 steals. I think his offensive role might be cuts and picks. With Hart spreading the floor it could work. Hopefully Thibs will embrace running teams ragged with our depth.

Cam- we have such high hopes for you! After he hit that first line drive 3, I had my hopes up high. I was pumped to see him pass back to RJ for the assist. Cam needs to trust he will get his opportunities and try not to force it.

Preseason has had blow outs across the league so far. I don't know the statistical history of preseason but it could be an ugly regular season. I don't think teams are running scared of GSW or Boston. It looks like Klay has lost a step and if he's not at All NBA level, the Warriors are beatable. The drat looks like it will have at least two franchise players. It's possible that after 20 games the contender and lottery teams might already be sorted out.

We’ve seen in years past the Mavs taking way too many uncharacteristic shots, which hurt them in games.

Since the start of 2022, the team has worked hard to create their shots but being efficient is the difference.

The work Kidd and God Shammgod have done with Brunson has helped improve his overall game.

His ability to attack the basket and pull up from mid-range has been tough assignments for opposing defenses.

Brunson has had developmental coach God Shammgod and Coach J Kidd in his ear. After one game you can see he is in complete control of his game. That’s what I was referring tohttps://atozsports.com/dallas/heres-two-reasons-why-jalen-brunson-is-playing-at-such-a-high-level/

After 11 minutes of playing time, and 1-6 FG shooting Cam Reddish left the game having a ankle injury.
It looks like the (injury-prone) Cam Reddish trade never should've happened, and the Knicks should've selected 6.8 Jalen Williams with the 11 pick in the draft.

I'm still expecting the Knicks to win all their preseason games by 20 pts vs Lottery teams !!!

I get the feeling that if you have 12 and the dealer is showing a 3, you stay every time. Sometimes you have to take a gamble! Cam was the number three ranked player in?high school. Knicks saw some potential and took a swing.

That was pretty impressive. This is clearly a deep team, probably too deep. The key this year is Thibs giving the quick hook to the starters if they get stagnant. It was limited last night, but Randle and RJ bog the team down with their dribbling. If the ball starts sticking get Obi, Rose, and or Quickley into the game. The Knicks have above average bench talent. I expect them to torch 2nd units. Harteinstein gives the team another look and appears to be a great signing. Unfortunately the Cam Reddish experiment appears over. Time to cut our losses. If they can get a future 2nd round pick for him consider it a win and move on. It's a shame because the roster is missing a combo forward. There is a role here for a back-up SF, 3rd PF. He is being outplayed by the smaller guards. Sure, he has a size advantage over McBride, or Quickley, but I'd run 3 guards out there before playing him at SF. Those guys are better players with better energy. It's that simple.

His rotations and lineups have been interesting and satisfying for a preseason game. But this is what every coach should do for preseason. Experiment on lineups and combinations.

McBride got some run with the starting unit which was great because during the regular season, I’m not sure he gets the same opportunity.

Too crowded but I hope your right. He’s a rhythm on ball shooter. Catch and shoot is a different skill set that he needs to work on. I remember going from on ball to catch and shoot. It took me a year to perfect that and I was a good shooter. McBride always had the ball in his hands in college or G league. But I’m rooting for him. We just need this level of on ball guard defense during the regular season.

I want McBride in the rotation this year even if he’s just a backup pg. his defense is disruptive

I agree but there’s a few players ahead of him.

JB
Rose
IQ
Grimes
Fournier

But I believe this proves my point on why I was on thigs last season when instead of turning to Burks (when Kemba went down and when it was clear Burks was not the answer). I’m not saying he should’ve started, but IQ could’ve started and deuce as backup. I feel like deuce would’ve been even better this year. But hey I’m just a fan what do I know. I’ll keep my trust in thibs for now. Maybe this was better for him may be not. Right now he seems even more ready to impact the team even as a defensive specialist. Lots of dynamic and shifty guards in the league. Glad we have someone who can guard them.

Hand picked by thibs himself. And with his play so far I can see this team making some minor trades which is needed in order to see these guys like deuce on the court during the regular season.

My expectations with cam is over. Mentally he thinks he’s Paul George. But he’s not. So he has to look in the mirror and figure out what game should he play. Cause Paul George is not it. He needs to be a 3&D type player. Catch and shoot while playing defense. But his contract is getting lower snd lower as these injuries and on court play starts piling up. I feel like cam got a lot of playing time. But he’s still struggling to find his niche with this offense. I think he should spend some time in the g league to work on his game and confidence vs riding the bench. Important year for cam.

Man those corner 3s from Obi looked like miss guided missiles. He’s not afraid to shoot which is good. Mitch for example might not have more than 5 attempts his entire career. But Obi 3 pt game just isn’t a strong point right now. Getting easy buckets is his swim lane.

Randle looks content with his new teammates. Still a different look from what I’m used to. We have an actual PG dribbling instead of RJ and Randle. I’ll have to get used to that and see how those guys move without the ball.

Thanks to JB this will be a fun year to watch.

It's unfortunate but I think you right. Hopefully that ankle is not too bad and he can get some more minutes but not looking good.

Julius was perfect. He played within’ the team at first. I didn’t mind his misses. He made it easy on himself. He went beast mode once he could have.

RJ played well. His shot looks good. He didn’t force anything either.

Brunson is what we need.

If we are a good team this year, Mitch should be able to compete for DPOY. He’s a beast on defense.

Anyone who thinks Obi should be taking Randles minutes is just wrong. I like his activity and his movement without the ball. That’s not enough.

Harty played pretty good. He’ll be reliable off the bench.

Deuce needs more minutes.

Cam didn’t play too well at all before he got hurt. He moves so smooth…. And that’s about it.
