Obi is a wasted talent on this team. He is a finisher but needs guards to find him. We have no one who does that. At least Mitch can get something for himself with rebounds. So while he is missed as much as Obi he can still get stats.

You can’t start in the nba only dunking unless you are Shaq.

And you don’t get fast break points in the 4th quarter, like Wally said on the post game. Usually teams lock in and force you to beat them in a half court set. A pg can only help someone so much if their entire offensive skill set is dunking. He has to be able to hit some type of jump shot consistently.

The “if only we had a pg” excuse only goes so far. Obi is shooting 23% from 3 this year. Elfrid Payton and Dennis Smith Jr laugh at that

You need to count how many missed lob opportunities there are a game. You would be surprised how many points that adds up to. Drop Obi and Mitch onto the Hawks and watch Trae work magic with them. Our guards can't hit a shot or drive past the 3pt line.

Even with RJ's ascension old broken down Rose is still the most important player on the team. We have no other player who can break down the D. It is why were a middling team last year until the trade for him. Him doing that one thing unlocks everyone else on the floor with him because they can't do it for themselves. When he was playing our bench was the best in the league. The bench is slowly turned to trash without him.

How many problems on this team can be traced to Thibs?!?! Even the coddling of Randle is his fault.
The algorithm gives and the algorithm takes away

The Knicks are 2-10 in their last 12 games ..
Tonight the Knicks scored 18 pts in the 4th qtr. ..
In the previous game against the Lakers the Knicks scored 42 pts in the first quarter, and then could only score 44 pts in the 2nd half of the game, which include the overtime points too.

The Knicks have 30 LOSSES & 24 wins this season, which head coach Thib's coaching/substitution/and poor team offense/defense plan has a lot (75%) to do with.
Plus one of the NBA most minute played tandem happen to be the Knicks star players (Randle & RJ Barrett) are not good team-ball starters, and the two star-players has a bad habit of playing individual ball, and poor one on one defense.
And tonight's final seven min performance from the Knicks two star players SHOWED again they are definitely not CLOSERS going down the stretch of a game (5 pts in 6 min).

After watching 3 seasons of the Knicks star tandem Randle & Barrett in the lineup the final 6 minute of every game, the Knicks two star players has not created any chemistry on offense/defense together as a tandem, their foul line shooting hasn't improve, their turnovers are still losing games, and their decision making in the last 6 min of a game has been consistently awful this season, without D.Rose creativeness & leadership in their lineup going down the stretch of games !!!

Can't take the never ending quest for a point guard anymore- basically every other team in the league has a starting calibre PG, some have two, yet we've never been able to manage it for decades- a season of Felton, and a few games of Lin aside.

This post took a couple of hours to hit me but damn you are right. Our best PGs of the decade plus is the corpse of Kidd, Felton and 2 and a half weeks of Lin. This reaches a whole new level of pathetic when you put it in those terms. I personally like Obi but the fact that Hali was there after this teams lack of a PG is unforgivable.

This was a lot closer than I expected but whatever. I liked the effort and at this point, it's all about the young guys and the vets not damaging their trade value. Utah is a good team even without Gobert. Mitchell is just on another planet. Very proud of Mitch. He's playing outstanding right now and really making the case to be signed long term. His rebounding and finishing are at a elite level lately. I still would not be surprised if he get's traded in the next few days. Randle played well. That's 4 in a row. Really liked how he was encouraging the team. RJ showed some new moves off the dribble but shot poorly. The next steps for him are definitely being more consistent and improving at the rim and at the line.

I don't dislike Burks. It's not his fault. He tries. He's just not a PG. He's been a good soldier who actually won us a playoff game last spring. I hope he get's traded to a good team so he can help them off the bench.

I don't think I can ever be a Fournier fan. I just don't like his game. Not blaming him alone for this loss but that's two games in a row now he has a critical and careless turnover late in the game. His defense is back to putrid level too. I just don't think you can be a good team with this guy playing big minutes. If he's not shooting that three really well, he adds nothing. He has zero intangibles. I really hope he get's traded tomorrow.

Wasn't too impressed with Reddish but he should get minutes in the second half of the season.
