I hope the sprain is mild.

Do we have the cap room to resign him? His contract status is something I am not familiar with. He is a FA and no bird rights I think. Do we have to sign him with cap space.

UFA but Knicks have full Bird Rights. No cap space needed

Thanks

No it doesn't. Most of those turnovers came because of passing and trying too hard to distribute.

His effort was 100% and his production was awesome.

24 points.
9 rebounds.
5 assists.
FG 8/15 (.533%).
3PT 3/7 (.429%).
FT 5/6 (.833%).

But yeah. Right. Lets let turnovers overshadow his performance.

That's like me being petty and nitpicking RJs 9/24 shooting despite his 28 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 block while only focusing on his not so good 9/24 shooting.

I'm not sure but RJ played 42 minutes and Julius 40.

I don't think that's too smart with a back to back coming tomorrow @ Cleveland for a big time Eastern Conference game.

Would've liked to see our bench unit get more playing time today in order to keep our starters fresh for tomorrow.

We desperately needed this one. Good to see Randle have a nice bounce back game with scoring wise with 24 points on 8/15 shooting and 2/5 from three but he's still gotta chill with the turnovers. I really think Thibs needs to simply stop the mid-post/Iso plays with him cause they usually lead to him turning it over or a bad shot against the shotclock. Run plays where Randle gets the ball ready to shoot or make a play. Letting him Iso and try to a read the defense has been disasterous. I also wish there was a way to like reprimand him for arguing with the officials. I cannot absolutely stand it! It's annoying! Imagine how the zebras feel having to listen to him bitch and moan all game. He's almost becoming as bad as Rasheed Wallace. No wonder they never wanna give him a call! Can't Thibs somehow ban him or fine him if he continues to do this? It's such a waste of time and energy! It's getting to a point where I'm siding with the damn zebras.

RJ was a monster with 28/14/6 and a key block on Zubac. IQ also had a nice game running the team. That bounce pass that led to Randle's dunk was one of the best of passes of his career. Getting Noel back is huge. If we're going to make a run and duplicate what we did last season, we need Noel and Rose back. Both add components nobody else on the roster can provide. Noel is a true anchor defensively. But I feel bad for Mitch,. Kid is made of glass. Everytime he's starting to hit his niche and play well, he hurts something. I'm iffy because of this on signing him long term. Durability is very important. Reddish did OK.

Enjoying this one cause this road trip is bound to be painful and frustrating. I'd settle for going 1-2 tbh.

You clearly see when Mitch is out, the Clippers started getting Offensive Rebounds. While Mitch was playing, Clippers had zero.

But I also love the back taps from Noel and Taj. All 3 guys play a part. Taj is the grandpa of the group, but that level of leadership is needed for Mitch. Noel is very agile and great at PnR defense.

But the star of the show is definitely RJ Barrett. And it's clear he knows this. It's his time to shine. Not sure what we going to do when it's time to pay RJ and Mitch, but lets hope for consistency in this second half of the season.

This is one reason I think the Knicks would be active in moving Randle if the price is right. RJ becomes the focal point and the Knicks can completely embrace better ball movement and less ISO.

This!!! The 4th quarter was difficult to watch. First 3 quarters we had decent ball movement. Then, Randle comes back in at the 9 min mark and the offense comes to a halt, as we watch one Randle-iso after the next. He had several turnovers trying to deal with the double teams, one was a shot clock violation. When he didn't turn it over, he was taking low percentage contested shots....

Working late tonight so I had a chance to watch and listen to the 70s championship years and how they made a trade that helped reed and made Clyde a full time starter. I believe these Knicks are in a similar position to make a few trades to clear up the rotation issues and style of play.

I don’t mind the iso plays. The problem is Randle is not the best iso player. And he has a problem with identifying double teams or how to overcome them without turning the ball over. But he can learn that. What he will continue to struggle with is his default iso plays he seems to go to in crunch time. He’s been mentored by Kobe and AD which is the problem because he’s not on their level right now.

But trading Kemba and allowing IQ to be the full time starter will help this team and help IQs development. Trading Randle and allowing RJ to lead this team is also a move I would consider. The problem is I’m not sure who I would rather have or who’s available that will fit this system and allow RJ to blossom. Or do you trade him for picks? No clue. But removing Randle might be an addition by subtraction move.

The pace of the game was more to our liking. Clippers play the half court game. Everyone was comfortable tonight. Not rushing and out of rhythm like we were against teams that play with pace and like to run. If we are going to win, we need to dictate the pace.

Yeah, the Knicks are still a half-court team.
I caught the 4;30 game on free NBA League ....
The Clippers performance (Zubac & R.Jackson) reminded me of the 2012-17 Detroit Pistons performance having Drummond & Reggie Jackson LOL
Kemba, Fournier, Randle, Burks are all offensive half-court winning players ..
This regular season transition teams are doing all the winning.
The Knicks only have a few transitional players in their rotation that could turn up the tempo on opponents .. D.Rose, Quickly, Obi, and old man Taj Gibson ..
Nice afternoon Knicks Win !!!

Our next 3 games are on the road .. then 2 home games ..
1) Cavs (28-19) BigMan rotation?
2) Heats (30-17) Top winning team in the East rotation?
3) Bucks (30-19) Championship contenders rotation?
Kings (18-30) A Feb deadline rotation?
Grizzlies (32-17) I want two 2nd row seats at MSG for this Game?

How many Knicks wins in the next 5 games ???

I think that question is what the Knicks have asked themselves over and over again. Is he a learner? The TOs and it’s now year 3 in which Randle has not shown the ability to adjust to double teams and decision making. And the propensity to rely on ISO even when it’s not needed is the key. Randle was glorious last year and mostly that had to do with his shot making from everywhere.

Every high level team definitely needs on ISO guy or even 2. Don’t think that Randle is reliable enough in that capacity, he most likely has topped out, just can’t see the double team and he meanders too much with ball.

MitchRob & Noel wouldn't stay injured on and off throughout a season if they didn't have to play two position (Center & PF) in a lineup.
Randle does not play the PF position since coach Fiz told him he's a point-forward.
Taj Gibson are a PF in the Old NBA, and new NBA !!!
Today, Randle played 40 min on the wing
