So he missed the first 10 games and was rehabbing on the fly so his shooting numbers were down first half. He rebounded to have a very good 2nd half with a good eFG around 58%, but got hurt the last week or two of the season. Hopefully with a bit more time off this offseason he can get some of that behind him. That and it will make sense to keep his mins down to keep him fresh. Why am I not surprised that the Celtics (Danny Ainge) is leaking information to their number 1 homer of a fan to discredit a former player? The idea that Walker wasn't doing everything he could to get his knee straight is laughable. Perhaps he was nervous about taking multi million dollar advice from a doctor over the phone? Fact is Ainge had to go because he was trying to trade Kemba around the league without disclosing the nature of his injury. He lost whatever remaining shreds of confidence he had after that and the only way forward for the franchise was his firing. Celtics were up Schlitz creek and so had to give the powerboat keys to Brad Stevens. Surprise! Coach turned rookie GMs only plan was to run it back with players he likes even if it meant giving up a pick. Ainge's reputation has been built on the Brooklyn trade where he allegedly 'fleeced' the Nets. New city, new arena, made the playoffs added about 1 billion in franchise value, trust me, no one in the front office rued that trade. Hope Simmons and Co. enjoy the sour grapes! |

![]() Question.
If Kemba Walker balls out next year, will NYK have any capability to extend him long term for say 2-3 more years? |

So if his 2nd year is like 9 mill we offer him $15.75mm which could translate to 4 years $74mm which at 33 isnt a bad extension. "winning is more fun... then fun is fun" -Thibs

There was no market, so Oklahoma City bought him out earlier this week. The desperate Knicks, striking out on other targets, brought Walker home on a modest deal that could still be reworked but is believed to be for the rest of the Knicks’ cap space ($8 million) with possibly a second-year option. https://nypost.com/2021/08/06/kemba-walkers-knee-injury-could-become-dicey-knicks-situation/ wow ES

Yeah, looks like we signed a D Rose clone to give us another 20 minutes of the same on the court. Would make sense to manage minutes for both of them, give them frequent off nights, give minutes to IQ as our PG of the future, spread minutes around to save players the wear and tear. Problem is: this is not how Thibs coaches. |

![]() Why don't i hear anyone talking about how his former team is paying him many millions of dollars not to play and go away? Normally that is a pretty bad sign.

![]() This is the best time for Kimba to come to the knicks. He's not under any max salary pressure. But rather an upgrade over Payton and a mentor for McBride....who I think will battle IQ for that future starting PG spot. In reality, IQ might be a career 6th man.. which isn't a bad thing. We shouldn't try and force him into being an everyday starting PG. Mcbride is more PG ready than IQ. He just lacks NBA experience. Next season will be very important for IQ and RJs growth.
