but think about it, should this team be 3-13, Tyson or not?

No way, no way. Not 3-13, that's crazy, that's lottery. No way this is a 3-13 team no matter how much you think Melo sucks.

IronWilG - we are sometimes victims of judging our beloved Knicks in a vacuum. The Answer Man has been distracted by his undying love for the orange and blue in the past, howsineva... no one can deny the effects of bad karma.

Or violation of any one od the basketball commandments:

3-13 is 3-13 for a reason.

You have to look at the coach when a team is making the same mistakes over and over and losing games they should win! This isn't a case of having no vet talent or quality player at key positions. The core of the team that was 15-1 as a group last year is still here!!! You have to be able to make it work on at least a base level where you can achieve about .500 with a team like this. At it's worse last year they were about .500.

The Knicks are like the crazy hot chick. some sucker will always come along because the team has money and it's NY. Even knew he didn't fit when he signed. Unfortunately, nothing will until a more stable ownership team is in place.

Regardless of wether or not you agree with what mgmt is saying, it doesn't bode well for Woodson, if they did say it. For his sake and ours, Tyson better wake this team up. It also might show that this is less about mgmt dictating what Woodson does and more about him wanting JR to have this role on the team. Either way the results speak for themselves.

According to league sources with knowledge of the team's talks with potential trade partners, president/GM Steve Mills' management team has also cited Mike Woodson's coaching as one reason for Shumpert's poor play.

"They're saying that Shumpert's a better player [than he's shown] but Woodson isn't using him right," one league source said.

Yea, exactly,

and Woody is a part of that record,

the team, in a vacuum, given the talent that's on the roster, is not a 3-13 team?

this team has a max player in Melo,

either Melo is a bum or Woody is a bum,

teams with superstar max players aren't 3-13, look at all the other bottom dwellers on the standings, how many have max superstars?

But if firing Woodson is simply about sending a message or appeasing the outrageous number of fans currently in panic mode, then it'd be best to hold off. Allowing an assistant coach like Herb Williams or Jim Todd finish out the season as head coach simply "just because," is not the answer, and should not be considered a solution. If that's an option currently up for consideration, the team might as well give Woodson the rest of the season to right the ship. After all, he can't do much worse, and it's somewhat unlikely than Williams or Todd would do that much better, all things considered without disrespect.

I have to say I agree with this. No offense to the assistants but I don't think there is a game changer there and I know it isn't Herb.

Who knows what Herb would do at this point. He's been here for a boatload of different coaches. I bet he has his own ideas now that would in fact be much different than Woodson and might actually surprise people. You just never know in a situation like this. Who has more experience in terms of watching other coaches and picking up things and understanding the NY thing in every aspect? It's not like it would hurt to let him try. Woody isn't exactly some amazing coach himself. I don't believe Woody has any answers. Even when the team was winning there were issues with Woody IMO. With all of his crutches gone Woody is proving to be out of his depth. Most of all maybe Herb won't have the same bias towards players like JR or misuse of players like Shump etc.

I have to say I agree with this. No offense to the assistants but I don't think there is a game changer there and I know it isn't Herb.

I want Woodson here for next year because we have a draft pick.

The team doesn't respect woodson....are they even listening to him, they dont believe in what his doing..

MDA left on a 7 game losing streak, part of the reason was melo not believing in the system and not playing hard..woodson comes in with the same exact roster and wins 7 in a row.

But as the world turns, melo is now playing the hardest for woodson and most of the other players are giving half of effort

it starts with anthony on offense chucking and defense dogging.

chucking and dogging by a guy who wants to test free agency.

at this point he is basically a thief.

if woodson wants the team back he should start by punishing carmelo anthony for not earning his exorbitant salary.

time to start restoring order instead of being a puppet in dolan and anthony's bizarro world.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Or list the names of players who are not giving a damn other than Beno, Shumpert and Pablo?

I miss Mozgov, Gallo, Wilson Chandler, Corey Brewer and the two first round picks.

the word is oblivion and the season was fried before it started. carmelo anthony ensured that by stating he wanted to test free agency. if you want to lead a team you don't say such things. and he can't unsay what he said. a clumsy roster is not the reason players are not giving effort.

lets start by eliminating the switching on defense- I think that encourages players to be lazy on defense- Melo is definitely guilty here.

Lets run something other than an iso. And until JR Smith regains form, he sits on the bench. Shump and THJ both provide better effort, shot selection, energy and smarts than he is providing.

Next time Melo jacks a shot when confronted with a double team, call a time out, show him what he did wrong, and sit him. Not for the whole game - but just long enough that he understands you would rather lose the game playing the right way than win on Iso-Man Heroics.

Look, I don't expect Melo to be Magic Johnson with the passing, but he has to learn to identify the double team and pass the friggin ball already.

Lastly, I'd challenge my players to be in the offensive end with 20 seconds or some similarly aggressive number on the shot clock. I'd fine those who failed, and split that money up to those who succeeded.

he loss the team already and he is stubborn like Dantoni
his philosophies don't work and the players know it with all the coaches from around the league
we have been exposed and yet we have no adjustments, something Woodson and Dantoni both were horrible at, in addition to their stubborness
