you were trying to exaggerate champ

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I believe that Melo should take all his money and say kiss my azz. Just listen to the way some of you are talking between both sides of your mouth. If Melo took less money you haters will still hate him and you none believers will always believe we will never win a championship. Let Melo take his money. Some of you think he should take less or just trade him and rebuild. When have the Knicks ever rebuild a team? Thats dreaming. I do believe some of you haters would rather enjoy a loosing season if it meant Melo leaving the team. Man what a bunch of azz holes. Get real. Hey Melo !Take your money get paid because you will never be able to satisfy everyone so just satisfy yourself.

I agree with you on your point that some people will never like Melo even if he takes a paycut, but that doesn't mean that he shouldn't. Bottom line is him taking a paycut increases our chances of winning a championship, a goal that would help both knick fans and himself. Just because people don't like melo doesn't mean he should say "**** you all, I'm gettin my money" and cripple the team financially because of it. There are still fans that believe in him, he shouldn't turn his back on them and make a selfish decision just because some people don't like him. There will always be people that don't like you no matter what you do!

I'm going to surmise that a big reason for your fondness of Melo is because he is on the Knicks, correct? Well if the fact that melo plays for the Knicks governs how much you like him, then aren't the Knicks your primary fandom and isn't your affection for Carmelo a secondary, dependent fandom based on your love for the Knicks? If so, in such a situation as a contract extension, why are you more interested in how Carmelo benefits from the transaction than how the very team that made you like melo in the first place fares in the same deal?! I like Melo, but I would much rather have a contending team with melo at a reduced pay rate or no melo at all than a team with maxed out 32 year old melo getting bounced in the first round. The Knicks always come first, above the interests of any player.

for him to take less money for the opportunity to get better players would be a sign of character.

not surprised our resident ursine wants the opposite. the hibernation season can't come fast enough.

That guy has made it clear he's far more concerned with Melo getting his money than the Knicks getting a ring. Mind blowingly awful

I don't have that level of confidence in my abilities.
I'll leave that to the professionals, like you.

Let me be very clear with my reasons for Melo to take his money. To me the best thing to happen to the Knicks in the past 13 years was Melo. Now you can't always be worrying about what the next team was going to do. We jumped and signed Chandler and we should have waited for Chris Paul. Melo is just one player who is carrying the weight of this team. Melo had nothing to do with the Amare injury. Bad break for the knicks. We could have gotten him for 4 years instead of 5. You see Melo does not have control of these azz holes running the knicks. Pat Ewing never played with a super star next to him. He had good players but they never got the right man to support Patrick. If Melo gave up some of his money what assurance Management will get the right guy. Hey I'm a Knicks die hard fan but it is what it is. Even a lot of you guys posting here is saying the Knicks are hopeless. So why should Melo give up his money when you guys don't even believe we will win a title. You say there is no hope for the knicks so why should Melo give up cash. You are talking from 2 sides of your mouth. Let's hear some positive vibes from some of you haters about if Melo gave up some cash.
In all fairness to Melo if he thought he could get the right superstar to come to New York I believe he would give up money. Melo is our last hope to win a ring for a long long time. Give the man respect. If he wasn't that great we wouldn't be debating about him so much. And some of you haters keep saying he is no great player and he ain't worth 12 million. I say screw you and I would grab all I can because you know why? It makes no difference. 40 years no ring 13 years of hell and the man who brought us back is most hated here. That's why I say grab your money Melo because it makes no difference. I will however enjoy the ride and then you'll never know! Melo may save the day.

+11 factorial.

And I always find it interesting when someone feels the need to inform you they are living in reality. On the internet. On a fan board. For a team they really have little to nothing good to post about.

Real reality.

Anyone read this?:

http://www.hoopsworld.com/is-maxing-out-carmelo-anthony-a-mistake

Like some people have already said, the numbers are eyewatering:

2015-16: $24.141 million
2016-17: $25.825 million
2017-18: $27.509 million
2018-19: $29.193 million

I just don't think we can afford to do that under this cba. His agents obviously playing hardball with all of this 'Melo would leave to join a contender for less money' (hmm- strange how he didn't do that with us a few years a go)- unfortunately Mills will likely fall for the ploy. It's real tough decision- do you risk losing him for nothing and ending up with no one or do you sign him in the hope he lures another big FA (again no guarantee- you could just be left with him and his huge contract).

I hope he doesn't opt out as that buys us a bit bore time, and gives us a better idea of what FA's are available in 2015.
