Just a couple games ago he was begging for touches in the post and troubled by sitting games late in the 4th. This doesn't make sense. So Kuptchak meets with his reps and they ultimately say they'll have no choice to trade Gasol if he doesn't adjust and now he sits. So appears to me his agent(s) have drew a line in the sand with the Lakers....Get to trading my client while he sits as to not ruin whatever value he has.
If he was legitimately hurt Kobe would look like an arse for saying what he sad about Gasol. Lakers are done, they aren't winning a chip this year. This is another example of why Kobe will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever come close to Jordan
D'AnToni seems cool as can be with it...
"We got to get him healthy," D'Antoni said. "Whatever it takes -- one game, two games, 10 games -- I don't know. It's day to day but he's got to be healthy. It wasn't fair (to him). He's trying to battle through some stuff and in this league, you just can't do that."
lol @ D'AnToni
no one is close to jordan.. but in this era, kobe is probably the closest....
gasol needs to put his big boy pants on...... that is true.. kobe has won with gasol, he also has been known to get on his case as to push gasol.... Not sure what he said that was so wrong here.....
if gasol is hurt, then he should have told the team and not get on the court and possibly cost them games if he can't perform.... sorry, I like pau a lot, but not feeling too sorry for him, nor am I going to make dantoni a villan here.... this team was messy before he got there..
I don't feel sorry for Gasol really... as he should have more pride in who he is and what he's been in his NBA career. If he's going to let people walk all over him or disrespect him then a person kind of deserves what's coming to him.
I think Kobe is out of line to this extent, earlier this year he said he wants Gasol to remain a Laker while he's there. Now he's telling him to put his big pants on while the guy is sitting on the bench long stretches to close out game.... watching Dwight Howard attempt build another Staples Center at the Free Throw line.
He told the fans and reporters to STFU and be patient about the Lakers Princeton offense but then 3-4gms later gives Mike Brown the death stare and mean mugging teammates in games
Kobe isn't a consistent leader, never has been a consistent leader. Does he want to win and does he play all out yep for the most part he does but he's a selfish spoiled butthole clown and always has been
As far as D'AnToni goes it's another opportunity to change the tide of a slumping franchise and be the difference maker but this time what's in his cupboard isn't in question. He has some of the best talent in all of basketball. I'd say with exception to maybe 4-5 coaches in this league they'd cut off their right arm to swap rosters with him. Just the fact he's coaching a team with players who have got it done, he should come there and show them the ultimate respect and not bail or alienate himself from them less than 10gms coached. The Lakers are not a 7sec or less roster. He came there knowing Nash wasn't healthy.
D'AnToni once again is angling to get what he wants and it appears Gasol is not what he wants. To be honest I don't think Howard is what he wants but he knows D-12 is a hopeful anchor tied to their future/franchise going forward. Gasol has already been put on the block several times by the organization, therefore easy target for everyone as things go sour.
I thought D'AnToni would be a perfect fit and good hire for the Lakers, but looks like I could be wrong. It's still early and they don't have Nash but they have Kobe/Howard/Artest/Gasol and that's more than enough to work with.
I agree kobe is a butthole.. LOL.. but I said this before, if I had to choose between douchebags...give me the most talented one...LOL.. but as you sid, kobe plays to win, prepares to win both mentally and physically and at times he can come across as cold blooded.. Jordan was the same way.. these guys are not into making friends, they are into winning... nothing more, nothing less.... you don't see kobe at clubs, mugging in public for photo opps... toasting at weddings with other players trying to recruit them..... this guy prepares his mind and body to win and he expects the same from his teamates.. I respect him for that... I have no problem with his stare at brown, his emotions got the best of him. but publicly he backed the coach and tried to buy in with what his coach was doing, he didn't sabotage brown, so again, i can respect that.
As far as dantoni, he is another guy who is somewhat smug, he is not a baby sitter or big brother.. he is a coach, you are the player, he will be prepared to coach and you should be prepared to play.... with that said, he can take a lesson from pat riley when it comes to dealing with players..... the lakers have talent, dantoni may not like gasol, I think he is a better fit than dwight.... I am sure they will get it right....
