D'AnToni seems cool as can be with it...

"We got to get him healthy," D'Antoni said. "Whatever it takes -- one game, two games, 10 games -- I don't know. It's day to day but he's got to be healthy. It wasn't fair (to him). He's trying to battle through some stuff and in this league, you just can't do that."

lol @ D'AnToni

no one is close to jordan.. but in this era, kobe is probably the closest....

gasol needs to put his big boy pants on...... that is true.. kobe has won with gasol, he also has been known to get on his case as to push gasol.... Not sure what he said that was so wrong here.....

if gasol is hurt, then he should have told the team and not get on the court and possibly cost them games if he can't perform.... sorry, I like pau a lot, but not feeling too sorry for him, nor am I going to make dantoni a villan here.... this team was messy before he got there..

I don't feel sorry for Gasol really... as he should have more pride in who he is and what he's been in his NBA career. If he's going to let people walk all over him or disrespect him then a person kind of deserves what's coming to him.

I think Kobe is out of line to this extent, earlier this year he said he wants Gasol to remain a Laker while he's there. Now he's telling him to put his big pants on while the guy is sitting on the bench long stretches to close out game.... watching Dwight Howard attempt build another Staples Center at the Free Throw line.

He told the fans and reporters to STFU and be patient about the Lakers Princeton offense but then 3-4gms later gives Mike Brown the death stare and mean mugging teammates in games

Kobe isn't a consistent leader, never has been a consistent leader. Does he want to win and does he play all out yep for the most part he does but he's a selfish spoiled butthole clown and always has been

As far as D'AnToni goes it's another opportunity to change the tide of a slumping franchise and be the difference maker but this time what's in his cupboard isn't in question. He has some of the best talent in all of basketball. I'd say with exception to maybe 4-5 coaches in this league they'd cut off their right arm to swap rosters with him. Just the fact he's coaching a team with players who have got it done, he should come there and show them the ultimate respect and not bail or alienate himself from them less than 10gms coached. The Lakers are not a 7sec or less roster. He came there knowing Nash wasn't healthy.

D'AnToni once again is angling to get what he wants and it appears Gasol is not what he wants. To be honest I don't think Howard is what he wants but he knows D-12 is a hopeful anchor tied to their future/franchise going forward. Gasol has already been put on the block several times by the organization, therefore easy target for everyone as things go sour.

I thought D'AnToni would be a perfect fit and good hire for the Lakers, but looks like I could be wrong. It's still early and they don't have Nash but they have Kobe/Howard/Artest/Gasol and that's more than enough to work with.

You blame Melo.

I blame both actually. It's more of a matter of whether or not I think you should fault your number 1 guy for not being motivated no matter what. Which I didn't think Melo was.

But I am happy that we have a coach/environment that can motivate him now.

If I'm having a discussion about my favourite team and the player who supposedly is our number 1 guy and the pillar our roster is built around, then I would say yes. I do expect the NY Knicks' top player to be motivated.

I don't fault Melo for not wanting to run up and down the court jacking up 3-pointers in 7 seconds or less never allowing your defense to get set up

dantoni wasn't playing ssol with that group.. and honestly when has carmelo ever worried about the defensive side of the ball to the point where he didn't even want to play offense?

Being on losing streaks should motivate Melo to start running up and down the court.

Wow!

what exactly doe Homers stand to gain from this? IS melo up for sainthood? Vetting for a seat on the Supreme court?

You guys are that desporate for a hero?

Old man Nalod is at it again...stirring up the pot. Even worse, now he has a sidekick!!

It seems like fans from both sides of the Melo fence (with the exception of TkF..obviously) are starting to notice a trend on how MDA treats certain players...I think only NewYorkNewYork & 3G are the only two really bringing Melo into the convo...but I guess Nalod has nothing better to do in his old age.

Do I smell another "manifesto"?

Yes, the poet is always above it all, telling everybody what they do is wrong while pumping up DwightHoward,Wizards,Nyets, the Russian, ect.

Can't we just go back to the good ole days when just for thinking the team is improving while signing Kidd/Berwer/Priggy, getting felton/camby would get you reprimanded and a strong detailing about how everybody in the east has improved just as much or even MORE!!!

Oh those summer days, us Homers just don't learn so good.

The combination of SSOL and Dantoni's inability to motivate, communicate and hold players accountable, lack of ingame adjustments, substitution, doghouses, weak training camps and practices is what lead to the slow starts, long losing streaks during his 4yrs here.

You also said the Nyets laugh at the Knicks and the Clippers and even the Wizards before they went 0 for 12.

Come to think of it you say alot of things for other teams. You play that fence all the live long day.

Nah, the problem is with the homers pumping up their own team/players, and if anybody dislikes anything about another team they are praying to mooby right. That is actually the reasonable position on the Knicks forum?!!

The problem I have with Kobe doing things like that is it sends mixed signals to the team from a leadership standpoint. You can't in one breath back the coach then death stare him during a time of tense circumstances in a game when he knows everything they do is under a microscope. He comes across as phony the same with the Gasol situation. Kobe doesn't want anything to get in the way of his personal goal of winning and playing his best...he'd probably send his baby girls through a ring of fire if it means he gets another Chip.

I talk about Clipps? Don't recall. Wiz I said with vets they'd would no longer be a pushover. Nene and John wall were out, Wall still out.

NEver even came close to discussing any team, even the nets as some are DRONING on and on about the rockets, Lakers or Denver!

Seems we talk hoop and other teams do play in the NBA.

We not talking up a home team player, Mooby's are going to great effort to discredit those who did not promote Melo's play to defend the faith.

Mooby is Love!

Does Lakers lack of success so far put things into perspective.
