Also, Knicks probably have 13 players already on the roster id JR comes back and the Lin/Novak case is a win.

Yep and hopefully they bring in machado on a undrafted non-guaranteed contract

a second round pick counts against the cap. knicks have cap issues. if they're in win now mode as you say, it makes more sense to save the cap room for a randy foye or something.

Then I realize people react the same exact way every year, even to meaningless second round picks.

Not gauranteed is a good thing. Wont count against our cap once we invite Machado to summer league then cut him after training camp and send him to the dleague. Bring him back on a 10 day if anything happens to lin or kidd then we have weeks to sign him to a deal for the remainder of the year!

Exactly. If we are really worried about Foye couldn't we just wait to sign the secound rounder until after free agency. We would still have the rights but it shouldn't count against the cap until after the contract is signed. Unless these rules were changed under the new cba..

If you cut your 2nd round pick, you lose his rights. If you sign him he counts against the cap for his contract amount. Since the pick is playing under contract in Europe, the Knicks hold onto the rights without a cap hit.

i have a feeling the knicks front office has put some thought into this move, guys. and has a better understanding of their cap situation than we do. this is really not worth getting worked up about in any way.

they should invite some of the undrafted guys to summer league. end of story.

Im telling you knicks brass knows what they are doing and I have a feeling it is Grunwalds doing. Even those awesome "Isiah" picks. Give me Machado and we got 2 players out of this 2012 draft

We got a lefty, just not the lefty I wanted.

We have no backup PG
we might not have a SG or back up SG healthy
we have no stretch 4
we have no athletic forward
we have no legit shot blocking center

Super athletic my ass, Super athletic in Europe means average to under average athletic in the US

Add him to the list that won't come over, like I said the last 2 Euros that came to us

Gallo/MozGov, they played well for us and they went bye bye quick as can be...

The Knicks won big with the FA hearing--no complaints on pick 48 if they think we need the money. Im sure they can pick up some decent names that went undrafted to our SL team.
