I thought he even said he did not give it 100% and would turn it up for Woodson?

Even if injury hampered him, much of the season was not MVP caliber.

The world thru "Melo colored" glasses must be a good view!

Now you are channeling Nixluva with all the propaganda.

Melo Mailed in in (and even said so)
We gutted the team to get him

Love it!

The only difference between Melo now and earlier in the season is he was missing shots he normally made during his career and now he is back to making them. It wasn't like as soon as Woodson took over he started dropping 30. He only averaged like 15pts a game on less then 40% shooting for the first 7 games of Woodson's era. Then they started to fall vs Miluakee and he hasn't looked back.

We were 6-4 in the beginning of the season with Melo averaging 26.6pts, 6.5rebs, 4.5ast, 8.9fts, 42.6%
. Then he got injured and we went down hill until Linsanity.

The major difference though pre Linsanity and now was Novak didn't get any playing time until Linsanity and Jr Smith was in China. Those 2 guys are the ones giving Melo the extra support he didn't have earlier in the season for these wins to be possible now.

Its not about Melo not trying hard then but trying hard now. The timeline goes Melo is playing well but doesn't have Novak or JR. Melo gets injured and can't make any shots. Melo gets healthy starts making shots again, Novak and Jr Smith add the help he didn't have earlier in the season.

I like it. Everything's sort of blue and orange and white and black, with smiley faces everywhere, and I'm Coming Home keeps looping over and over again in the background...

Race to the MVP Ladder
The Race to the MVP Ladder is a weekly look at our favorite to walk away with the Maurice Podoloff Trophy (aka the NBA MVP award). The rankings are written by Sekou Smith of NBA.com's HangTime blog, Hang Time podcast and The Jump! fame. If you have an issue with the Ladder, or have a question or comment for Sekou, send him an e-mail. You can also follow him on Twitter.
Just In Time, 'Melo
April 20 -- Welcome to the party Carmelo Anthony, we expected to see you here months ago.

You were supposed to be a part of this from the beginning. But it didn't happen. The Knicks were busy trying to find their way without a full training camp to lean on and there were new bodies added to the mix, making for a choppier transition than expected.

You're here now, though, sitting pretty on the KIA Race to the MVP Ladder in the final two weeks of the competition. If Anthony's January or February or March looked anything like his April, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant might have had some headband-wearing company at the top of this list.

Anthony has been operating on another level since Mike Woodson took over as coach, following the departure of Mike D'Antoni. The 32.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 51 percent shooting from the floor and 46 percent from beyond the 3-point line is more what Knicks fans expected when the organization traded for Anthony last season.

Now that the Knicks have secured a playoff berth, Anthony is guaranteed an opportunity to continue his April (points) showers for at least a couple of weeks more.

It's too bad for Anthony that we're shutting this competition down next week, though. Still, his scoring kick that has propelled the Knicks into the playoffs has also re-established him as one of the league's most difficult players to deal with.

And if he finishes in the playoffs the way he has finished this regular season, Anthony will have vaulted himself back into the MVP conversation when this kicks back up to start the 2012-13 season.
