Shumpert has been displaying a lot more discipline on offense lately. Almost to the point where he has been turning down open looks. The rookie has benefitted from his new role as sixth man, which could be a perfect role for him, along with Novak. Add Harrellson with Jeffries and the second unit suddenly has some firepower, defense and rebounding.

If we could bring a quality lead guard off the bench, things could get very interesting.

No more waving off Lin ala Melo and I will be a much bigger fan.

He did play well tonight and a Lin/Shumpert backcourt is really looking solid defensively.

The difference in on court communication is better. He is around the ball and makes good things happen.

Shumpert. Fields. Anthony. Stoudemire. Chandler.

Hit the open man.

Shumpert is talented and has skills

Still don't like his ugly JuMpEr ..though sometimes that crapshot goes down!

i think shumpert is playing great alongside lin. i said all along he wasn't a PG. he looks great as the shooting guard next to line.

imagine, sometime next week, a lineup of:

Lin
Shump
Fields
Amar'e
Tyson

Shump is a perfect sixth man. His defensive effort is consistent every night.

Novak inherits the shots Bill Walker bricked last night. Although the Knicks shot poorly at the start, one never got the sense the game was out of reach.

As long as Shump does not waive off Lin to go iso then he should be fine.

Funny, at the end of the game last night, Shump tried the PnR and penetrating ala Lin and he fumbled the ball. Really shows you that you really need to have PG skills to run this system.

I think people are overreacting to the waive off. i mean it was one time because shumpert and lin have worked well together

Not over reacting. That play really stopped the flow a little bit. These are bad tendencies. The only good thing about it was that he missed badly on his shot and it should teach him that he should never do that again.

It was not about that one waive off (for me). Shumpert rebounds and runs. I hate that. I wish he would rebound, stop, look for Lin and give him the ball.

When he runs, often the ball does not make it back into Lin's hands and the offense looks more erratic. This is all on MDA. He has to set him straight ... unless he wants shump to run on rebounds which I would still hate.

Not on his case. He is playing really well but like everybody else, he can improve on this part of his game. Like The Rock says.."You gotta know your role!"

Agree. It is a tempest in a teapot. Shumpert is still a rookie. The trial and error of December and January has led to more settled February. Shump is no longer trying to force things.

Last night, he showed more signs of imitating LIN to get to the rack. Iman is built to take a hit, and get his shot off.

Lost in the commotion over Lin's dunk was Shumpert's fancy flight that was "this close" to being on ESPN.

Did someone say 42 inch vertical?

The Shumpman's learning on the job from the Professor. Insane.
I'm so happy right now.

It's starting to feel like the Gints are 7-7 and out of the playoffs and then...all of a sudden...

His dunk attempts are a bit off the mark but you can't help by love the effort.

The failed oop by wide open Lando to Shump who was covered was fun but had we lost by a point it would have sucked.

Glad Lando is having fun with the other yoots!

Don't bother me if SHump in the rookie game or not. These games are crap anyway. Maybe he gets picked if Brooks can't play.

He is playing more in control. He is going to be just fine.

Could he and Lin be our Future?

Lin needs to be signed/extended ASAP. Give him 1st round money for 5 years at around $2M per year. It would really be stupid if we don't.

Disagree, it was a stupid, immature play by Fields. Maybe at the end of a game up by 20 but never during a close game. Kind of reminded me of a bonehead play by nate.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

That was on Fields not shump and I've never seen Fields do that so I give him a pass (this time)
