I'm listening to the pregame ESPN interview w and I really like what he's saying- a lot of positives about Chauncey- and I forgot C.B. was 's point guard in Denver-
Anyway I know Dan Patrick is the softest interview on NY - Even lighter than Jill Martin- but sounds smarter than I thought of him- I think has handled NY ok - and the adversity has made him more similar to the beat-down Knick fan-
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

- Not to be Captain Obvious but Good Toney won us the game tonight. Maybe a better way to put it is Bad Toney would have easily lost us the game with bad shots/decisions/pounding the ball in the vacum created by Billups' injury.

- Absofrickinlutely LOVED the way the entire team looked committed and cohesive on D tonight. I have no doubt we'll figure out a way to score consistently but it warmed my heart to see the D tonight. I hope it wasn't entirely a product of the Hornets offense in general just being very mediocre.

- Landry fields was definitely more aggressive and Melo in particular seemed to be more in sync and aware that Fields' game is cutting by defenders distracted by Melo/amare

- Welcome back Shawne Williams! We missed you buddy. Shooting like the 3 point making robot sent by the future to destroy opponents like when he first carved out a role on this team.

- Melo/Amear nice and efficient. I was going to say it looks like Melo's elbow is bothering him because he's missing shots I expect him to make. But then I check the box score and he's shooting almost 50%. I know I like him waaaay better when he's attacking the rim and crashing the boards then when he does his iso thing. Also he looks much better with no Dwight Howard.

- Amare just soned okafor. Nothing more to say really.

- Jared Jefferies..not completely useless. Hustling after loose balls and rebounds. As usual..painful to watch him do anything on offense. If you get the rebound..just pass it out to reset. Please. Thanks. Welcome back to the Garden. I promise I'll try not to groan every time you start a shooting motion.

- Favorite moment of the game: Roger Mason assuming Herb Williams' crown as victory cigar. At times I've felt like he's a waste of a roster space but he's handled everything like a grown man/veteran and it was good to see him get his moment in the sun. AWESOME that he hit his first shot. Even better when he hit the next one.

Not the most thrilling game to watch but def. helped take the bad taste of Orlando/Cleveland out of my mouth.

Next up: Revenge on the Cavs!!!!

edit: oh yeah crzymdups just made me remember this but I'm getting fond of Old Man Carter. Dude's got heart.

Random thought: Nickname for Fields

Laundry Fields

or

True Grit

?

Donnie's plan is coming to together. He found his coach, then went and got his players and the team has people who can flat get the job done from the front office to the 10th man on the roster. I'm happy with what we've seen them do in year 3. Donnie is the best GM we've had in a long time. He had a vision and has seen it thru almost to completion.

ditto. Or Deron, and immediately put up a blueprint sign with Amare, Melo, DWilliams.

The next year and a half of STAT/Melo/Billups may be a better big 3 than STAT/Melo/CP3 - I'm just concerned about how long Chauncey can fight off Father Time.

My other concern is that after his contract runs up, he might prefer to head back to Denver.

I'm sure we're going to have another fun year next year with CP3 mania.

next year has the potential to be crazier than last year's UFA because three top tier guys will be competing to play in NY , as opposed to the bride's maids looking at NY as an option

Yea was thinking the same thing. I think Rose, Dwill, Rondo, Westbrook, etc have passed him as PGs.

Guy just had a bad night...it happens. CP3 is still the best pure PG in the league, he's all about pass first.

I dunno man. I like him a lot but he's been bad for 11 games now. Way too many for someone who's supposed to be an ELITE pg.

Yup. Not only makes you wonder what is going on in his head at this point, but you have to think about his physical condition and what he can offer a team in the future.

I did not see a special player out there tonight. Felton outplayed him the first game, and Douglas was his match tonight.

I may have been against the Anthony trade, but he's in his prime as a player, with no serious injuries or doubts that he can continue to play they way he has in the past. You know what you are getting with Melo.

Not so for Paul, who may still have his PG savvy, but seems to lack the explosiveness. He is not the same player he once was.

Not sure he is worthy of a max offer at this time given his production.

I fantastic seats for a Rockets/Hornets game before his slump and he played the off guard while Jack carried the load. I was far from impressed

I see alot of people down on Paul in this thread. What I seen today was alot of great passes that the other players could not convert into assists. He is a different player now, because he does not look to score as much. His vision and passing ability are still good. His passing is what we need from him now his scoring. On another note, I almost cried when I saw Jeffries box out like a mad man.

Yeah I was going to say, for his first game back to a newly constructed NY team, he looks extremely comfortable out there.

I thought the same thing, he looks pretty comfortable out there. He does give us extra height too. I think he will play a good roll for the team but this board loves to rag on him.

I know I am late to the party here but I gotta get this out there, this is the role Jefferies was born to play.

Let's not forget he became a hot target playing on a team with Arenas, Butler, and Jamison where he didn't have to score at all, but just know his role. Isaiah tried to outsmart everyone and only outsmarted himself trying to make everyone think Jefferies was Lamar Odom.

Jefferies was never multifaceted. Jefferies was always a defender who could handle a little bit and that's it. If you take Jefferies for what he is, you won't be disappointed. He is in the perfect role to suit his skill set.

The question will be how much we have to give up to get him or how much he will he cost.

Is he still worth a max contract in your opinion?

there's a long time to go before cp3 is available. we'll have a lot of chances to evaluate his play.
