We gave up every asset we had, minus Fields, Amar'e. That's all. Incredible.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

In the end I don't care about those assets we gave up. It was the price of doing business and getting this done with a good 29 games left to try and work on some chemistry. This isn't just about this year but the next 5 years or more. We can work to find the final pieces to have a true contender. It's very expensive, but we're in the running.

We don't know just how good this group will be. Billups, Melo, Fields and Amare is pretty darned GOOD! Don't underestimate that group. They can go head up with any starting lineup in the league IMO. We still need some size and PG help, but other than that this team is really pretty good. Definitely better than we were.

Dolan and Isiah can't kill my buzz over this deal. I'll deal with that as we go along. If they allow Donnie to get back to work he can get the missing pieces. This is the kind of deal that an owner can get involved in, but he's not gonna make the small detail deals that Donnie can make. I just feel bad that Walsh had to be disrespected in this whole process. He's a grown man, he can take it.

So this trade was just between the Knicks and Nuggets? Randolph and Curry are still Knicks?

Yeah, they need defense inside. But Melo and Amar'e are actually both underrated defenders - at least to my eyes. I've seen both come up big in big moments. Amar'e is what third in the league in blocks right now? I've seen him save at least three games this season with blocks.

Knicks are NOT barren outside of Melo and Amare - Billups is a high level player. Fields is a high level player. Turiaf/Toney/Walker/Shawne are a solid bench - better than Miami's bench.

I agree it would have been better to wait until the summer - and I am trying not to think about the Isiah/Dolan implications and I will want to puke if Walsh leaves...

Great insight. Just boggles my mind the opposition to this trade. We are not talking about getting Marbury here..a headcase. We are talking bout Real Ballers & Competitors who pride themselves on hard work and leadership. What won me over even more is Melo's play this past month when he could have dogged it knowing he was coming to Knicks anyways. But he wanted to show people you can't be serious..I'm a beast.

Nope. They're Timberwolves. It's in all the links we've posted.

Yeah, that part just doesn't make sense. How could we be sending those two for nothing? We have to be getting something of value back.

Gallo and Mozgov, I bet, are PISSED!

ESPN didn't say anything about those two or about the Minny pick, except Minny is involved.

So WTF are we getting back or is Denver getting from Minny? What is the purpose of that?

nix, aren't you a business owner yourself? How can you make such a statement. It boggles my mind.

If you aren't business owner, might I suggest that you never go to a country where you have to bargain for anything in a market.

I hate Dolan with all I have to hate a human being. I hate Isiah Thomas as much as Ive hated any sports person ever. But.. Mosgov had a few good games. Chandler and Danillo, although I like them, sometimes have 4 point scoring nights. Carmelo Anthony is an All Star Starter. I mean, come on. We gave up too much because our owner is garbage, but we still got an All Star Starter. WHO WANTS TO PLAY FOR THE KNICKS. Come on now.

Anyway, I'm going to be annoyed about this trade for a few days, but then we'll see how Melo performs and how this core performs. I am happy to see that we kept Fields. I felt Fields was the most untradeable of any of the pieces. We paid an incredible premium, but I'm interested to see how this turns out. The Knicks will be exciting. I think the team as currently constructed has a ceiling of just under 50 wins. We're probably slightly better this year. The bottom line is unless got Melo at a discount in exchange for more years, we get Paul or Deron or Dwight Howard, this trade is a bust. We really went all in.

Heh. I don't know, I'm listening to WFAN and they are telling me I'm an idiot that I'm not excited about this trade. I guess I'm an idiot. I like Billups, but maybe I just hold a grudge for Melo from the brawl.

Take out Felton / Billups wash
Take out Mozgov / Williams

So what's left?

Gasllo, Ill Will, Curry, AR, 1st rounder, 2 seconds for Melo and Anthony Carter?

That sucks whatever way you look at it.

Donnie Walsh ally says of steep price paid for Melo: "This is all Dolan. All Isiah. All (Worldwide) Wes and Leon Rose..."

Makes sense:

A league source said Jim Dolan has been hellbent on getting Anthony to keep him from Russian owner Mikhail Prokhorov, whom has become a definite rival.

. Minny got Curry and AR- Denver needed Minny to absorb the cap space to save money on the cap this year and Minny had cap space. Minny didn't give up a pick but it seems they gave up Brewer to Denver.

We ended up with Melo, Billups, Shelden, Balkman and Anthony Carter. Denver got 2 NY second rounders, a 2014 NY first rounder, Gallo, Chandler, Felton and Mozgov.
